Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

Chapter 250: Chapter 250: Model Student and Outstanding Class Leader

”It’s nothing, I’m just a bit worried. The zombies are getting stronger and stronger. What if a super-powerful zombie wreaks havoc on humanity?”

Leng Yebai spoke of his worries, but his eyes were fixed intently on the faces of Bai Zhengxuan and his wife.

”Why worry about that? That’s impossible! No matter how strong the zombies get, they can’t defeat humanity.”

Bai Zhengxuan waved his hand, firmly believing that humans will stand at the top of the Pyramid.

”What if?” Leng Yebai retorted.

”There’s no ’what if.’ There’s no way there could be such a powerful zombie!” Bai Zhengxuan picked his nose again.

”I think Brother Leng could be right. Zombies are so strong now, and some even have human thoughts. If a natural-born Emperor emerged and became the zombie’s leader, they might actually take over the world!”

Bai Yifan, sitting in the driver’s seat, shared his view.

Zombies feel no pain and have incredibly strong survival instincts. If a zombie could command all zombies, the chances of humans winning would be nearly zero.

”Come on! I don’t believe there’s such a powerful zombie!”

Bai Zhengxuan rolled his eyes and continued picking his nose.

”Why not!” Bai Yifan pouted, ”Brother Zhang seems very capable. If he were the Zombie Emperor, no one could beat him!”

”Zhang Yiming is a good kid. There’s no way he could lead zombies to conquer the world. He’d never turn against humans!” Bai Zhengxuan rolled his eyes at Bai Yifan.

Zhang Yiming obviously excelled academically and was beloved by his teachers.

As a teacher himself, Bai Zhengxuan liked Zhang Yiming more and more.

Leng Yebai: ...

You’re the one calling him a rampaging Zombie Emperor, and also saying he’s a model student.

This world is truly strange.

”Nothing is impossible!” Bai Yifan floored the gas pedal, making a sharp turn, and continued, ”If he lost hope in this world and had no family, ruling the world from a zombie’s standpoint seems perfectly normal!”

”Shut up!” Bai Anhai yawned, ”If Zhang Yiming became the Zombie Emperor and took over the world, I’d call you Dad! Just drive properly, at least let people sleep peacefully!”

Bai Yifan blinked.

Since Dad said that...

He’d make sure to ask Brother Zhang tomorrow when he’d be taking over the world.

Whether the world ends or not isn’t the issue; he just wants to elevate his status a bit!

Leng Yebai watched the Bai Family bicker and fell into deep thought.

The Bai Family’s gift of the gab was unmatched, especially Bai Yifan, who always seemed to elevate his status unknowingly!

Leng Yebai quietly glanced at the window and softly asked Bai Zhengxuan, ”Grandpa, do you think there’s any possibility in what Xiaofan just said?”

”If there is, I’d call him Grandpa!” Bai Zhengxuan glared.

Zhang Yiming’s face obviously screamed model student and outstanding class leader.

How could he conquer the world!

At most, he could save it.

Leng Yebai calmly blinked and glanced out of the window again.

...He thought it would be more meaningful to ask this question in front of those two outside.

Well, he’d ask again tomorrow.

Bai Yifan driving hardly worried about time.

Within an hour, the bus stopped in front of the city’s most famous mental hospital.

Tongji Hospital was still some distance from S City, and zombies roamed the roads in dull eyes, roaring as the bus approached.

They seemed ready to tear the bus apart.

The Bai Family appeared unfazed and got off the bus, locking the doors.

”Tsk, today’s little cuties look so dry. They need hydration!”

Wang Yiyun frowned at the grimacing zombies, wanting to spray water on their faces.

It was about ten in the morning, yet the fiery sun was already blazing.

These low-level zombies wandered around every day without any sun protection, clearly dehydrated. Their rotting faces had dried blood, and even cracked dead skin was visible.

Ice Needles pierced straight into the zombies’ temples, leaving them lying stiffly on the ground, motionless.

”Tsk! They’re severely dehydrated. Dissecting them might make it hard to assess their physical condition!”

Liu Jing shaded her eyes from the scorching sun, sweat dripping down her face.

Today seemed even hotter than yesterday.

”Sis, it’s so hot. Can I have some ice?”

As soon as Bai Yifan got off the bus, he felt the summer’s intensity.

It was fine in the bus with air conditioning, but stepping outside felt like roasting. He just needed some cumin to become grilled meat.

”Is it that hot? I don’t feel hot at all!”

Bai Xiqin shrugged, and with a slight flick of her finger, a medium-sized block of ice instantly solidified in front of Bai Yifan.

Bai Yifan hugged the ice block and rolled his eyes at Bai Xiqin, who was wearing shorts and a t-shirt.

If I dressed like that, I wouldn’t be hot!

Bai Xiqin wore a youthful, energetic white t-shirt on top and light blue denim shorts on the bottom. Her long, white legs were slender and straight.

Under the sun, they were dazzlingly white.

Leng Yebai scanned Bai Xiqin from top to bottom, briefly pausing on her long legs before shifting his gaze.

He wasn’t sure about others, but he knew the weather was indeed quite hot today.

”Xiao Niu, it’s too hot. Don’t wear so little, put on a sun-protection shirt.” Leng Yebai earnestly whispered beside Bai Xiqin, ”In the bus, you can forgo it.”

Bai Yifan, hugging his ice block, curiously watched Leng Yebai.

What’s going on with Brother Leng?

He didn’t quite understand.

Bai Xiqin rolled her eyes at Leng Yebai and strutted toward the mental hospital.

The mental hospital was messy with sporadic pools of black blood.

The decayed smell of the black blood drying on the ground intensified under the blazing sun.

At a glance, nothing seemed amiss.

The inside of the hospital was eerily quiet.

Bai Yifan eyed the perpetually open doors and empty courtyard, feeling something was off.

”Why are the doors open, but no zombies wandering in?”

After staring for a while, Bai Yifan finally spotted the anomaly.

Although the courtyard spilled with black blood, no zombie corpses or wandering zombies were visible.

”Be careful,” Bai Xiqin whispered.

Mental patients have abnormal brain waves, their brains differing slightly from the average person’s.

These differences allowed them a unique transformation during the apocalypse.

Seeing Bai Xiqin’s serious face, Bai Yifan closed his mouth and strategically stood in the middle.

His grandpa on the left, grandma on the right, dad and mom at the rear, and big sis and Brother Leng up front.

This lineup was very reassuring.

The family circled the courtyard, finding only dried bloodstains, with nothing else to discover.

It seemed they could only check inside the building.

The Bai Family halted in front of a building housing the mental patients.

”Creak...creak...”

Inside the quiet building came the sound of bones being chewed.

The bones creaked as they were crushed, followed by the gulping sounds of swallowing.
