Rebirth before Apocalypse: My Whole Family are Bigshots!

Chapter 239: Chapter 239: Everyone Is Doing Well Now

When the masked couple emerged from Butcher Wang’s courtyard.

A sudden inferno erupted in Butcher Wang’s house, the intense flames engulfing the entire courtyard in a fiery glow.

Until everything was reduced to ashes.

From then on, Yang Liu Village became an empty village.

”Would it be considered defying fate?”

The woman looked at the desolate village with an indifferent expression.

These people were supposed to become bloodthirsty monsters, preying on countless survivors.

Their appearance became their death sentence.

”No, this world has long since changed. Even if we hadn’t intervened, that young man wouldn’t have spared them.” The man looked gently toward Baiyang Village’s direction, a hint of relief in his eyes, ”That young man is quite something, not soft-hearted.”

A soft-hearted person cannot survive in the post-apocalypse.

The woman didn’t speak, her dark eyes carrying a twinkle.

She began to envy her existence in this time-space.

The entire family together, without partings by death.

This kind of happiness was something she didn’t even dare to imagine.

The apocalypse began with her family experiencing separations by life and death.

The man glanced at the woman, his thick eyebrows and large eyes slightly bending, ”Old companion, this place is good, let’s return after we’ve done what we need to do! Don’t linger, as long as they’re well, it’s enough.”

If we insist on staying, who knows what changes might occur.

He truly couldn’t bear to let them go through separation by life and death in this time-space.

They came to the past to stop some, letting them live well in the past.

”...Alright.” The woman nodded with tear-filled eyes, tears rolling down like beans, ”I just can’t bear it for Xiao Niu; back then we searched for her for so long, finally seeing some clues, only to find ruins, we didn’t even get to say a word to her.”

Such strong energy pulse, Xiao Niu must have self-destructed her Crystal Core.

How desperate must she have been at that time.

After the apocalypse, they racked their brains finding their family’s whereabouts.

They went to their son’s home and found Xiao Niu’s diary, which recorded Bai Anhai, Wang Yiyun, and Bai Yifan’s death dates and burial locations.

The sadness at that time was indescribable.

Luckily, their granddaughter was still alive.

She was their only family, the hope keeping them alive.

Even though they were an old bag of bones, summing up to over 140 years of age, they kept absorbing Crystal Cores, slaying zombies.

Going places others feared, enduring hardships others couldn’t.

Just to find Bai Xiqin, the only living family in the world.

But amidst so many safety bases in the apocalypse, only found clues in Fire Phoenix Safety Base, yet discovered she was missing.

Later, when a hint arose again, they hadn’t had time for a last word, only felt the strong energy pulse from that self-destroyed Crystal Core...

”It’s alright, it’s alright, they’re all well now, and have none of those memories.”

The masked man wiped a tear, gently patted the woman’s shoulder.

Hand in hand, they subconsciously walked toward Baiyang Village.

Finally returning near the air-raid shelter, sitting motionlessly on the tree branch, from afar watching Bai Yifan at the entrance playing with clay.

Bai Yifan brought back a burlap sack full of clay, but the village kids could only glance at it, being hurried into the shelter by the village chief.

Time for study.

Even in the apocalypse, Village Chief Li managed to find a literate person to teach the children to read and write.

In his hoarded materials, pencils, notebooks, and books occupied a lot.

The clay brought back, the kids couldn’t play with it, it was left for his own family.

To avoid disturbing the kids’ study, Bai Yifan carried the clay and played at the shelter entrance.

The yellow clay, in Bai Yifan’s hands, transformed into various shapes, each ugly figurine placed on the ground.

Bai Xiqin watched the bizarre figurines and crouched down to mold clay figures.

Leng Yebai crouched beside Bai Xiqin with a serious face, watching her mold figures.

”Don’t move, I’m molding one of you.”

Bai Xiqin held a clay figure, gesturing in front of Leng Yebai, changing it occasionally.

Leng Yebai’s lips slightly curled up, he felt his beloved Xiao Niu’s affection had reached an irrevocable point!

”I’ll mold Brother Leng too!”

Bai Yifan also eagerly grabbed a piece of clay, measuring against Leng Yebai.

He felt he couldn’t match his sister in learning, superpower, or appetite, but his clay-molding skill was decent.

At least a tiny bit better than his sister!

Bai Xiqin’s less-than-nimble fingers began molding the clay figure’s eyes.

Opened too wide.

”Leng Yebai, why are your eyes so small?” Bai Xiqin stared at the clay figure’s and Leng Yebai’s eyes.

The clay figure’s eye proportion was noticeably larger!

Leng Yebai instantly widened his eyes, until approximately sized like the clay figure.

Next was molding the face.

Carelessly molded into a pancake face.

Bai Xiqin looked at Leng Yebai’s defined-boned face, a bit discontent.

Before speaking, Leng Yebai understood.

She disliked his face being too small.

Without a word, Leng Yebai puffed his cheeks, roughly resembling Bai Xiqin’s clay figure.

Next was the mouth.

Bai Xiqin’s finger finally molded a small mouth on the clay figure’s face.

Leng Yebai’s mouth wasn’t big, but proportionally larger than the clay figure’s.

So, Leng Yebai intuitively puffed his cheeks, pouting his mouth, showing his cherry-like lips.

Half an hour later, Bai Xiqin and Bai Yifan’s masterpieces were complete.

”Grandpa, come see, who molded Brother Leng more accurately?”

Bai Yifan dragged Bai Zhengxuan out as a judge.

Bai Zhengxuan observed Bai Yifan’s clay figure.

Just like a shrunken version of Leng Yebai stepped in water, then hacked twice on the face.

If Bai Yifan didn’t mention it, Bai Zhengxuan wouldn’t realize Bai Yifan molded a person.

Thought it was a toad!

Turned to observe Bai Xiqin’s work.

...Even worse than a toad.

Did Leng Yebai have such a large pancake face?

Bai Zhengxuan looking at the clay figure rolled his eyes, sympathetically gazing at Leng Yebai.

Leng Yebai thought Bai Zhengxuan was comparing their likeness.

So, under Bai Xiqin’s gaze, he silently widened his eyes, puckered his cherry-like lips, puffed his cheeks.

Trying to hold a consistent image with the clay figure.

”...Your sister won.” Bai Zhengxuan announced the result with twitching lips.

Bai Yifan didn’t lose in skill, lost in bachelorhood!

Bai Yifan: ...

He remembered when Brother Leng first came home, cool and aloof.

How did he become more... silly?

In the distance, the masked couple sat on the tree branch, smiling as they watched the warmth at the air-raid shelter entrance.
