Chapter 190: Chapter 108: The Whole City Searches for Gu Changsheng_2 Chapter 190: Chapter 108: The Whole City Searches for Gu Changsheng_2 Lau Quansheng had opened a grocery store in the city and was known for his naive and honest nature. He was also honest in his dealings. At this moment, he also had a worried expression, “Lady, you don’t know, I too am troubled by this matter. You mentioned there was a death in the family, how can we possibly rent it out to someone else in the future?”

He had already moved the elderly to the city for their care, and this courtyard was rented out every summer to those seeking refuge from the heat, which barely brought in ten taels of silver a month, enough to cover half a month’s expenses for his family. But with this incident, who would dare to rent his courtyard now? Losing such a source of income, how could he not be troubled?

“Master, how about this? Name your price for the courtyard, and I’ll buy it off you,” Gu Changsheng knew that damaging the family’s feng shui would lead anyone to seek a resolution. She had already thought of a strategy: the courtyard was located at the foot of Baili Mountain. Buying it would mean having a place to escape the summer heat and collect herbs during regular times. It seemed like a solution that would satisfy both parties.

It’s a win-win for everyone, and seeing how sincere Lau’s son is, I hope he won’t ask for an exorbitant price.

Upon hearing this, the troubled expression on Lau Quansheng’s face deepened as he sighed, “Lady, you are unaware, this courtyard is the ancestral home of our Lau family, the foundation of Old Lau’s House. Who would sell their ancestral home unless absolutely impoverished? Although I am now somewhat established with a house in the city and it might seem harmless to sell the courtyard after this issue with the feng shui, my elders are still around. They are old and sentimental and spend a few days here every now and then with my wife and children. If I sold it, it would surely upset them greatly.”

“If I don’t sell it to you and instead have you compensate us financially for the trouble, that would seem a bit ungracious of our Lau Family. I heard from Xiangyang next door that you bravely saved him that night. He and I have been close friends since we were kids. I must consider our relationship and this favor.”

As Lau Quansheng spoke, he couldn’t help but continuously sigh. The few dozens of taels of silver he earned from renting out the courtyard every summer was not a small amount for someone engaged in small-scale trading. For a moment, he was extraordinarily troubled, not knowing which choice to make.

On hearing this, Gu Changsheng gave a faint smile, “It was Lan Zhi’s Family who came out to help me that day. I couldn’t just stand by and let him get hurt because of me. You exaggerate, sir.”

“I see you are a person of filial piety. My home is currently under reconstruction, and I run a medical hall. Once it is rebuilt, I plan to move back. How about this, if you sell this courtyard to me, if the feng shui really is ruined, it would be on my hands, not affecting your family. If your elders wish to return, they are welcome anytime. I’ll just be here occasionally to escape the summer heat or to rest awhile when collecting herbs.”

“I’ll offer you an additional ten percent over the market price, which you could use to start a different venture or perhaps buy a larger house in the city at your discretion.”

“What do you think?”

Upon hearing this, Lau Quansheng’s face lit up with joy, “Is what you say true, Lady? If I sell the courtyard to you, can my elders really come back to stay whenever they miss it?”

Seeing this, Gu Changsheng nodded with a smile, “Of course, it’s true.”

“Lady Changsheng, if that’s the case, how can I ask for an additional ten percent from you? I’ll sell you the courtyard at market price!” With his mind eased, Lau Quansheng’s face bore a naive smile as he agreed happily.

Simplistic people indeed have the most love.

Gu Changsheng had a very favorable impression of Lau Quansheng.

“The ten percent extra must still be given. It is because of me that your family had to sell the ancestral home. Besides, when I’m not living here, your elders could stay for a few days now and again, just to keep the place lively, wouldn’t that be just right?” Gu Changsheng shook her head, insisting.

“Lady, to hear you say this, to sell the courtyard to you and allow our elders to stay without charging rent is already gracious enough. How could I ask for more silver from you? What would people think if they heard?’” Lau Quansheng was more adamant than Gu Changsheng, “Lady, there’s no need to bring it up again. Our courtyard, being at the foot of Baili Mountain, is slightly more expensive than others in the area, with a market price of around six hundred taels of silver. You are welcome to have someone verify this, and you’ll find the estimate quite accurate.”

“No need to verify, I trust you.” Gu Changsheng instructed Xiao Cui, who waited at the side, “Xiao Cui, go next door and see if Brother Liu from Lan Zhi’s Family is at home. If he is, please ask him to come over and help us.”

Since Uncle Song was out, and the rest at her home were all women, it was inconvenient for them to handle affairs outside. The only easy option, Yue Xilou, was currently occupied with teaching followers and entirely unavailable, leaving her with no choice but to ask for help from Lan Zhi’s Family.

Xiao Cui complied and left, summoning Dong Lei to serve, and soon brought someone from Lan Zhi’s Family over.

Gu Changsheng handed over a silver note of eight hundred taels to Lau Xiangyang from Lan Zhi’s Family, asking him to help by going to the government office to get the deed changed. However, Lau Quansheng adamantly refused the extra two hundred taels of silver, and Lau Xiangyang from Lan Zhi’s Family also helped in declining. Seeing this, Gu Changsheng grew even more appreciative of the two and did not insist further, taking back the two hundred taels and purchasing the courtyard at the market price of six hundred taels, located at the foot of Baili Mountain.

“May I ask, Lady, under whose name should the new deed be registered?”
