Chapter 158: Chapter 90: The Ancestral Business of the Troublesome Sect

Dong Lei rubbed his nose, puzzled, and backed out of the room, but not without throwing one last longing look at the sauced pig’s head on the altar.

What did she have in common with a sauced pig’s head?

Seems like the wife has flipped out again! Unable to find an answer, Dong Lei automatically categorized this as one of his wife’s whimsical fits.

Gu Changsheng and Zhou Mu sat aside, watching the ceremony. They watched the two carrying three sticks of incense approach, and saw their plump young son solemnly trailing behind Xilou, making Gu Changsheng’s lips curl into a slight smile.

Zhou Mu, quick as a flash, tapped her arm and gave her a warning look.

Gu Changsheng looked at Zhou Mu, puzzled, asking with his eyes—what’s wrong? I didn’t do anything wrong, did I?

Seeing her clueless, bewildered look, Zhou Mu’s lips curved slightly. He leaned in and whispered in her ear, “If you’re not afraid of him getting angry and really giving up and walking away, by all means, keep grinning like that.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Changsheng immediately straightened up and wiped the smile off her face.

Give up and walk away? How could that be possible? A bun that’s almost in your mouth doesn’t just fly away!

Completely oblivious to how intimate their movements appeared to others, Gu Changsheng picked up a cup of tea, looking towards Xilou, who was seriously kneeling on the ground, barely managing to conceal her smirk.

With three sticks of incense in hand, Xilou bowed three times and then said solemnly, “Gongsun Music Workshop’s fifth-generation successor, Xilou, today accepts a disciple…”

“Pfft…” Gu Changsheng couldn’t hold back and the tea she’d just sipped sprayed out.

“Gu Changsheng!” Xilou, having had enough, turned his head angrily, looking as if he was about to fight her if she made another move.

“Hehe, it’s okay, it’s okay, I just choked on my saliva, go on, continue…” Gu Changsheng pleaded with a wave of her hand.

After glowering at Gu Changsheng one more time, Xilou turned back and continued seriously, “Gongsun Music Workshop’s fifth-generation successor, Xilou, today takes Gu Ze as a disciple, to inherit the teachings of Ancestral Granny and carry forward the skills of the Gongsun family, to perpetuate our academy for eternity!”

Gu Changsheng learned her lesson this time, her face turned red as she tried to hold back her laughter, her hands firmly covering her mouth, not making a sound.

What’s the rush? Any questions could be asked after the disciple ceremony was over.

Carry forward our academy for eternity? She wouldn’t be fooled by her weak grasp of history; dressing up as the Gongsun Music Workshop can’t change the fact that it’s actually just another name for a brothel!

Could she tell them that one day there would be a ban on prostitution, gambling, and drugs, with prostitution tackled first?

And that whole Gongsun Music Workshop, Ancestral Granny stuff?

Driven insane by curiosity like a cat scratched by its claws, Gu Changsheng was trembling all over. Xilou’s lineage was truly bizarre!

Looking back through history, Gu Changsheng could only recall one member of the Gongsun family from the music and dance academy!

The first dancer of the Tang dynasty in its heyday, Lady Gongsun, known for her exceptional sword dancing that stunned the world! Was this a joke of time and space, or a stunning historical coincidence?

The disciple ceremony continued: when Gu Ze knelt in front of Xilou, knocked his head to the ground three times, and called out “master,” the ceremony was finally complete.

Seeing the ceremony come to an end, Gu Changsheng finally relaxed slightly, and before she knew it, she burst out laughing again!

“Flower Peacock, what are you doing!” She lunged forward in a dash, aiming to catch Xilou’s hand reaching toward her son’s head.

But Zhou Mu, even quicker, intercepted her mid-air.

“Men and women should not touch,” he stated coldly, adding a note of reminder.

Gu Changsheng, stunned, withdrew her hand and scoffed in disdain.

Men and women should not touch, yet you’re grabbing my hand? Are you not a man? Or am I not a woman?

But now wasn’t the time to argue about this. Gu Changsheng pulled her son into her arms, warily eyeing the beaded hairpin in Xilou’s hand—the one he had just unfastened from his own head. The reason she had intervened was that the hairpin had almost made it onto her son’s head!

“My son is a boy!” With a little JJ, mind you!

“The Tower Master is well aware of that,” Xilou responded earnestly.

“Then why are you trying to put a hairpin on him?” She was certain the thing looked quite valuable, but more importantly, it was clearly a woman’s accessory!

Only someone like Flower Peacock would walk around in colorful clothes, jingling with jewelry like a walking jewelry box!

“This is the Disciple Inheritance Token of our Gongsun Music Workshop,” Xilou said, shaking the beaded hairpin in his hand more seriously than ever.

Following his movement, Gu Changsheng looked at the bead hairpin. Its gold engraving was antiquely exquisite, with large pearl tassels hanging from its tail, giving a grand sense of soaring through the skies.
