Chapter 184: Chapter 105 Demonic Sound of the Wooden Fish_2

Reclining on the bed to recuperate, Han Qiu furrowed her brows as she listened to her ramble and then dismissed the matter without agreement or objection.

“Sister Qiu, that Little Monk has taken an empty room and moved in himself; he isn’t planning to live in our house indefinitely, is he?”

“Since the lady brought him, she must have her own arrangements. They rushed back overnight; you should go and start cooking something first.” Han Qiu, hiding her worry, glanced outside and said to Dong Lei.

It was then that Dong Lei remembered the lady’s instruction to prepare food when she entered the house.

Startled by the sudden arrival of the Little Monk, she had completely forgotten her duties.

So, she hurried to the kitchen to prepare food.

With the rice and vegetables supplied by Yuan Bao already in the house, cooking wasn’t difficult; soon, Dong Lei had fried six meat dishes. Remembering the addition of the Little Monk, she picked some greens and stir-fried them, making two vegetarian dishes.

When Gu Changsheng was called to the dining hall to eat, his ears were still aching slightly, and the sound of the wooden fish seemed to still be floating around him. He rubbed his ears and couldn’t help complaining, “Later, I’ll need to brew some sedative medicine to drink, or else I won’t sleep well tonight with this illusory hearing.”

Yue Xilou, along with his apprentice Little Meat Bun and Xiao Cui, quickly nodded in agreement.

The wooden fish sound of Little Monk Bu Jie, ah, its penetrative power was too strong; their ears were still hurting…

“Where is the Little Monk?” Scanning around and not seeing the Little Monk, Gu Changsheng asked Dong Lei.

“I shall call him immediately.” Dong Lei kneeled and bowed, quickly arranged the food on the table, and went down to call the Little Monk stationed in the east wing.

Little Monk Bu Jie arrived quickly; by then, Gu Changsheng had already taken his seat at the head, and Xiao Cui had already laid out the food.

“Well! This is really like inviting Buddha into the house.” Gu Changsheng massaged his temples, “Xiao Cui, move that small desk to the side and serve these two vegetarian dishes to the Little Monk.”

He’s a monk, after all, monks abstain from meat, not even seeing it…

From now on, meals at their house would need to be cooked separately and served separately; it was quite troublesome!

Xiao Cui agreed and was just about to move the desk when Little Monk Bu Jie already sat down at an empty chair at the end. The monk recited a Buddhist verse and spoke, “Benefactor, there’s no need for so much trouble, I do not covet the pleasures of the palate, I don’t distinguish between vegetarian and non-vegetarian.”

“What?” The chief Gu Changsheng was startled, looking stupefiedly at Little Monk Bu Jie, “You are a monk, yet you don’t abstain from meat? Are you trying to let the wine and meat pass through your guts while leaving the Buddha’s heart untouched?”

Damnit, do you think you are Ji Gong?

“This is why my Buddhist name is Bu Jie.” Little Monk Bu Jie finished speaking and then recited another Buddhist verse.

At this point, Gu Changsheng’s lips twitched fabulously, “The name Bu Jie is rich with profound meaning; living within the Buddhist sect yet not adhering to its strict disciplines. Little Monk, was it your master who named you this?”

Gu Changsheng suddenly thought of the origin of Bajie, Zhu Bajie of the Journey to the West, who had to observe eight precepts; thus, he was named Bajie, as a form of self-reflection.

And Little Monk Bu Jie’s name was Bu Jie; damn, does this mean he refrains from nothing?

“Indeed, my Buddhist name was given by my master.” Little Monk Bu Jie nodded and replied.

“I knew it! A Taoist, persuading his own disciples to shave their heads and become monks, this is typically with ulterior motives, scheming! Little Monk, did your master send you to challenge the disciplines of the Buddhist sect?” Gu Changsheng’s face was full of interest, as she seemed to glimpse the covert battles between Buddhism and Taoism, surrounded by smoke…

“Benefactor, you worry too much.” Little Monk Bu Jie, under the gaze of everyone, forcefully maintained his composure as he replied.

Seeing this, Gu Changsheng’s mind shifted, and a sly smile hung between her eyebrows, “Bu Jie, did your master tell you whether or not you need to abstain from lust?”

If the Little Monk is not only a monk but also a flirty monk, then she would truly be impressed!

“Madam, Little Zen Master Bu Jie is still so young; why discuss abstaining from lust or not!” Xiao Cui hurriedly spoke up, interrupting her own madam.

Gu Changsheng could only touch her nose and give up the idea of further desecrating the behavior of the Little Monk.

Having another meat-eating monk at the dining table made everyone a bit uncomfortable; Dong Lei was even more depressed, looking at the two untouched vegetarian dishes that she had specially prepared. What a waste of food; maybe she should force herself to finish them!

After dinner, Gu Changsheng touched her throbbing head and glanced at Little Monk Bu Jie, then leaned back on the couch to check her son’s homework.

What in the world did Zhou Mu want her to bring a Little Monk back for? Aside from being able to beat a wooden fish and trick people, she truly could not find any other use for Little Monk Bu Jie!

“Heaven, Earth, dark and mysterious, universe so profound, sun and moon complete, constellations spread, cold comes, heat goes, autumn harvest, winter store…”

A complex thousand-character essay, recited earnestly by Little Meat Bun Gu Ze in his babyish voice.

Gu Changsheng couldn’t help but nod repeatedly…

Maybe the child still had potential! Life still held beauty and hope!

Of course, it would be even better if it weren’t for that silent Little Monk continuously knocking on the wooden fish next to her!

“Enough already! Son, let’s call it a day for the evening lesson.” Gu Changsheng embraced her son, kissed his little forehead, then turned towards the culprit producing the demonic wooden fish sound, “Little Monk, perhaps it’s time for your evening lesson to end too, right? Knocking on it like that all day, aren’t you dizzy? There’s a sedative soup in the kitchen; do you want to have a bowl and rest?”

The sound of the wooden fish continued, rhythmically without a single mistake.

“Little Monk, if it’s really unbearable, you should go back to your room, close the doors and windows, and continue knocking there; we are going down to rest!” Seeing this, Gu Changsheng could only resort to begging, as she really wanted to snatch that wooden fish and throw it away!

That is, if Little Monk Bu Jie could part with it.

“Don’t rush, benefactor; guests are arriving at your mansion.”
