Chapter 176: Chapter 101 Rumors of the Secret Sect Shang Clan

The next morning, Gu Changsheng woke up to the impatient knocking of his own son.

“Mom, Mom…”

“What now? Summoning souls so early in the morning!” Gu Changsheng yawned as he opened the door, and a little head peeked through the crack, continuing to look inside.

Gu Changsheng looked at his mischievously grinning son and grabbed him by the collar of his neck, lifting him up, “Son, what are you doing in my bedroom so early in the morning?”

“Catching cheaters.” Little Meat Bun Gu Ze dangled his chubby legs, obliviously replying as his little head kept peeking through the crack of the door.

At these words, Gu Changsheng’s face darkened.

“Huh? Why isn’t Uncle Wood in the room? I just went to his chamber, and he wasn’t there…” Puzzled, he scratched his head as Little Meat Bun looked up at his mother for answers.

“Gu Ze!” Gu Changsheng dragged him far away, clearly to keep him away from the entrance of her own chamber. Pointing at his little nose, she didn’t know what to say.

Seeing this, Little Meat Bun pouted, “Mom, where’s Uncle Wood?”

“He left.” Rubbing her forehead, Gu Changsheng remembered the figure departing in the night shadows, her heart stirring slightly.

“Left? What about little sister?” Little Meat Bun looked hopeful.

“Still thinking about that? I told you, the Guanyin the Child-giving Goddess is very busy, you haven’t offered even a bit of incense, and you still want a little sister? If she could give you a little sister all by herself, that would be something, she isn’t a hermaphroditic straw worm!”

“Mom, how about we go offer incense to the Guanyin the Child-giving Goddess, okay? I heard from the neighbor’s Little Hua that her mom took her to offer incense.” Little Meat Bun’s interest was piqued as he pulled on his mother’s arm, coquettishly shaking it, “Mom, I’ve grown up so much, and I’ve never even seen the temple’s Bodhisattva…”

These words touched Gu Changsheng, and she raised her hand to pat Little Meat Bun’s head, “Alright, mom will take you to offer incense.”

Her son had grown up so much, and indeed, he had seen very little. Just yesterday, his wounds had been treated, and he couldn’t wait to go out and play with the neighboring children in the afternoon…

“Madam, you’re going to offer incense?” Xiao Cui came over with some clothes for washing, joining in, “Madam, take me with you, and I’ll also pray for blessings for you and Sister Qiu.”

“Okay.” Gu Changsheng nodded.

“Madam, are we going to the small temple outside Liuzhou City or the further Great Lingyin Temple to offer incense?”

“Where is the Great Lingyin Temple?” Gu Changsheng turned to ask.

“Beyond Baili Mountain to the west, atop Spirit Hidden Peak.”

“How long will it take to get there?”

“About a hundred and ten miles by carriage, a round trip will take two days.” Xiao Cui explained and cooled the clothes, “Madam, as the old saying goes, ‘do not ask the distance when going to worship Buddha.’ The Great Lingyin Temple is said to be very efficacious. Every first and fifteenth day of the lunar month, devotees from Liuzhou City rush early to Jushuang Town…”

“Stop!” Gu Changsheng frowned and interrupted Xiao Cui, “Jushuang Town?”

Could it be such a coincidence?

Xiao Cui, puzzled, looked at her mistress, “Yes, Jushuang Town is right at the foot of Spirit Hidden Peak mountain, is there something wrong, Madam?”

“Nothing’s wrong, it’s just too coincidental.” Gu Changsheng squinted, thinking of the letter she had pressed under her pillow.

Zhou Mu had entrusted it to her with solemn promises. Even though she herself didn’t quite believe in these bizarre superstitions, she still had to make a visit.

“What a coincidence, Mom?” Little Meat Bun knew that the issue of offering incense had been settled and was very happy.

“Mom is going to Jushuang to find someone.”

“Who is it?”

“A fortune-teller.” Gu Changsheng replied.

“Mom, are you finding a fortune-teller to tell fortunes?” Little Meat Bun scratched his head.

“No.” If it were just about having a simple divination, she wouldn’t be so helpless.

She was going to snatch the Closed-door Disciple!

“Madam, when do you plan to go? How about we wait a few more days? The round trip by carriage takes two days, and it’s very bumpy, and the wound on your back isn’t fully healed.” Xiao Cui looked at her mistress worriedly.

“No need, let’s find a spacious carriage, and we’ll go tomorrow.” With Zhou Mu’s return, everything had already settled, and there was nothing for her to worry about anymore, and the matter of the five hundred Elite Guards wouldn’t be helped by her not being fully healed.

“Yes.” Xiao Cui agreed and continued with her chores.

Gu Changsheng took Little Meat Bun back to their room to start teaching him and Han Mo to read.

At breakfast time, Yuan Bao burst into the room, surveying everyone at the dining table, disbelievingly shouting, “How come one is missing? Where’s my lord?”

“He left.” Gu Changsheng swallowed a spoonful of porridge and replied.
