Chapter 182: Chapter 104: Kidnapping a Little Monk

Gu Changsheng was unusually indecisive, one hand propping up his chin, the other twirling a strand of hair around his ear.

“Little Monk, how much do you eat?”

This was important. She was already sponsoring the big eater, Dong Lei; adding another one, she would be eaten out of house and home sooner or later.

“This monk does not covet the pleasures of the palate.”

Good! That was great! Easy to maintain!

Gu Changsheng nodded her head and continued pondering.

“Little Monk, do you think there’s something different about me?” Gu Changsheng pointed at herself, damn it, this wasn’t her narcissism speaking; she truly was different.

She had to ask these questions beforehand; not to mention whether this tiny monk’s cultivation level was high or low, it was about her own secrets, she had to ask clearly.

What if she ended up harboring a tiger, bringing trouble upon herself?

The Little Monk, who originally had a vacant look, finally focused his eyes coincidentally on Gu Changsheng’s face, studied her for a moment, and then he smiled, “Buddha is in the heart, Guanyin Bodhisattva, in front of Buddha there’s neither your appearance nor mine, nor the appearance of all living beings, Benefactor, why bother yourself with coming and going, only to add three thousand threads of troubles?”

“If I don’t obsess over this, does it mean I won’t have three thousand threads of troubles?” Gu Changsheng was first stunned by his words, then sternly faced Little Monk Bu Jie, “According to what you’ve said, you really know my comings and goings?”

“Indeed.”

“Do you really know?”

“Truly.”

“Smack!” Gu Changsheng slapped the table, causing the wooden fish nearby to jump several times, “Little Monk, I know my own origins, since you have such deep insight, capable of deducing fate, then I won’t ask about the origins, but I only ask you one question, can I still return to the place I came from in this life?”

Damn it! This guy is truly a senior monk! Although he’s not tall, you can’t change the fact that he’s a senior monk!

“Merciful Buddha, let me go back!” Let her go back to the world she knew, back to her family, Amen! No wait, it’s Amitabha!

“As the benefactor has said, although this monk can deduce fate, there are causes and effects, fate should not be revealed.”

“Smack!” Another slap on the table made the little wooden fish jump even higher, Gu Changsheng glared furiously, “Little Monk, are you kidding me? These cliché lines won’t work on me, let’s change it up.”

Little Monk Bu Jie lowered his head in thought, then raised it again and solemnly chanted a Buddhist scripture, “Amitabha, Buddha said: ‘It cannot be spoken of’.”

“Smack!” Another slap, “Didn’t Buddha say something else?”

“Since it has come, then settle it.”

“Smack!” Another slap; the little wooden fish jumped a few times towards the embrace of Mother Earth, “Little Monk, a monk should be honest, I don’t believe in Buddha or karma, I only seek one result.”

Gu Changsheng’s heart was like a turbulent sea, but she forcefully maintained her composure, insisting on an answer.

If there was no hope in this life, was she really supposed to pin her hopes on the next life?

She was already inexplicably burdened with a past life she couldn’t forget; she needed to know whether this life, in this lifetime, there was still hope of returning!

Sweat slowly seeping down her spine, Gu Changsheng admitted, she was nervous, extremely nervous, her hands tightly clutching the edge of the table, her nails slowly digging in, “Little Monk, I am willing to stake my life for one result.”

The moment she finished speaking, even the stoic Little Monk Bu Jie’s brow slightly moved.

Waiting, was the most torturous.

Silence, even more so, disturbed the mind.

Just when Gu Changsheng thought the Little Monk would not respond to her, the Little Monk finally spoke up.

“At the initial thunder of spring, this monk glimpsed the fate atop Vast Mountain, Female Star of the Occupation Room clashed with Hook Chen, this is destiny.”

Gu Changsheng, who didn’t have much study on celestial signs, frowned slightly at his words, “Little Monk, can you speak plainly, make it simple and understandable, please?”

Little Monk Bu Jie sighed, “Benefactor, as destiny wills it, the result you cling to will have its fruit in time, just remain in the present and wait patiently.”

“Little Monk, the more you talk, the more confused I get; are you earnestly trying not to enlighten me?” Gu Changsheng rubbed her temples, threatening, “I’m neither a pious nor a faithful person, keep fooling me and see if I don’t pluck your bald head to use it as a polo ball?”

“Benefactor, seek nothing forcefully.”

“Monk, I am ultimately not a Buddha.”

“Benefactor, the time has not come, forcing it will also be fruitless.”

“Monk, when is this so-called time?”

“This monk, does not know.”

What can be tolerated and what cannot, as clever as she, Gu Changsheng, was, to be fooled by a hairless Little Monk, can you believe it?

“Smack!” Gu Changsheng slapped the table again, took a step forward, grabbed Little Monk Bu Jie by the back of his neck and lifted him up, her anger hardly concealed, “Damn it, you don’t know, after so much babble with me, you’ve missed none of the classic lines, you’ve added much that was unnecessary, so why didn’t you say anything I wanted to hear? When you and your old monk master set up a fortune-telling stall, how could you not starve to death?”

“My master is not a monk.” Caught in her grip, Little Monk Bu Jie looked disheveled, yet he still made it clear.

“If a monk’s master isn’t a monk, could he possibly be a Taoist?” Glaring furiously, Gu Changsheng, feeling deeply fooled, was in a very bad mood.

“As the Benefactor said.” Little Monk Bu Jie tried his best to scoop up his Little Wooden Fish and held it tightly in his arms, responding very sincerely.

“What?” Gu Changsheng, who was tormenting the Little Monk, froze and pointed at Little Monk Bu Jie with a tongue-tied look, “You’re a monk, right?”

“Indeed.”

“Your master is a Taoist?”

“Truly.”

“Damn it, what are you guys playing at? Mixing up monks and Taoists? This is ridiculous!” What weird combinations she had encountered!

A General’s family’s tigerish daughter persistently trying to sell herself.

A Qingcheng beauty determined to become plump.

A brothel owner who was a beautiful transgender man…

Damn it, dare the heavens strike her with lightning?

Gu Changsheng vividly recalled her transmigration journey, finding it increasingly absurd and melodramatic, the world too bizarre, her understanding constantly challenged and elevated.

The lightning did not come, but Gu Changsheng’s head was metaphorically struck…

“Ouch!” Gu Changsheng, lost in thought, held her forehead and looked at the culprit.

It was Little Monk Bu Jie, who hadn’t managed to stash away his mulberry wood mallet in time, “Damn it, why hit my head instead of the wooden fish?”

“Benefactor, the recitation of the scriptures is over, if you don’t leave now, you won’t be able to descend the mountain before sunset,” Little Monk Bu Jie said, pointing with the mulberry wood mallet at the western-moving sun, unafraid and still with a dignified air.

Hearing this, Gu Changsheng looked outside and indeed, it was getting late. She figured her son, after listening to the scriptures, would be anxious not finding her.

“Little Monk, let me ask you one more time, do you really know something or are you pretending to know something?” Gu Changsheng asked, eyeing the Little Monk she was holding.

“Benefactor, true or false, even Buddha can’t tell, let alone this poor monk?”

“Enough! Weren’t you just pretending, saying ‘the time is not right’? Fine, you come with me, I want to see when exactly is this ‘right time’ you speak of. If Flower Peacock can wait for its prey, can’t I wait for the right moment with a monk?” Gu Changsheng said, dragging the Little Monk out as she spoke.

Being carried, Little Monk Bu Jie was dragged along, his feet not touching the ground, finally showing an expression other than a smile, somewhat awkward and embarrassed…

“Benefactor, put this poor monk down, I will follow you on my own,” he said.

Gu Changsheng, frustrated, ignored him and continued carrying him.

“Benefactor, you took the wrong road, you should turn left at this intersection.”

Gu Changsheng didn’t listen to him, turned her head, and continued on.

“Benefactor, if you go further, it’s the back mountain.”

Gu Changsheng still ignored him, turned around, and went back.

Frustrated by the deception, combined with the winding paths of the Spirit Hidden Temple, Gu Changsheng was indeed ticked off.

“That Benefactor has kidnapped Zen Master Bu Jie, who is stationed here.”

A loud shout came, and in an instant, more than a dozen Martial Monks wielding large sticks blocked Gu Changsheng’s path, their stance threatening as they stared at the kidnapped Little Monk Bu Jie.

“Good monks do not block the way, clear off!” Gu Changsheng snapped impatiently, continuing to walk as if the monks were not present.

“Stop! Benefactor, put down Zen Master Bu Jie, or don’t blame the monks for being impolite.”

A few large sticks were thrust forward, neatly blocking Gu Changsheng’s path.

“Wow! This is serious, monks, aren’t you supposed to be praying and chanting instead of stopping people and threatening violence?” Gu Changsheng, irate, pushed the Little Monk Bu Jie forward slightly, raising a sinister smile on her frustrated face, “You want this Little Monk, huh? I’m telling you, I think this monk’s understanding of Buddhism is profound and mysterious; I want to invite him home for a detailed discussion.”

“Don’t believe me, you ask him!”

The dozens of Martial Monks all looked at the Little Monk Bu Jie being held.

Under everyone’s gaze, Little Monk Bu Jie hugged the Little Wooden Fish, bowed his head, and hid his helpless face, “My fellow monks, no need to panic, the Benefactor means no harm; this matter is a karma I myself created, it should naturally be resolved by me. My fellow monks, please go about your business, I’m unharmed, unharmed…”

The Martial Monks looked at each other, puzzled.

“If the Zen Master is willing himself, why does this Benefactor act so aggressively?” The leading Martial Monk, burly and with a shiny forehead, still worried, looked at Gu Changsheng, who clearly displayed an aggressive attitude.

Zen Master Bu Jie, though young, had chanted thousands of volumes of Buddhist scriptures and even the Abbot Master himself held him in high regard; how could they stand by and let an outsider bully him?

“What’s wrong with my deportment? This is my standard way of inviting a monk; is there a problem?” Gu Changsheng gave Little Monk Bu Jie a look that said ‘wise of you to know,’ her demeanor even more wild.

The Martial Monks were momentarily speechless.

Devout believers who came to offer incense, who among them had ever seen such a presumptuous and disrespectful person?

“Benefactor, don’t trouble them any further, it’s better to descend the mountain first,” Little Monk Bu Jie advised, speaking slowly.

Gu Changsheng, hearing this, slightly restrained her rogue demeanor, ignoring the stunned Martial Monks, and carrying Little Monk Bu Jie, she boldly walked past everyone and left spiritedly.
