Chapter 131: Chapter 72 We Have Reinforcements_2

“”You were cast out of your family over fifty years ago, and you still have the nerve to show it off.””

“Weren’t you also expelled from the convent? A nice nun you could’ve been, yet you insisted on chasing after some Mr. Right, truly a fool’s errand!””

Gu Changsheng gnawed on a pig’s trotter and looked up, sure enough, Thirteenth Lady Du’s head was conspicuously topped with a worn Taoist Crown…”

The Mo Family once made a name for themselves in the Three Kingdoms with their Mechanism Technique, which she had indeed seen in unofficial histories, but a seventy-year-old Taoist Nun looking for Mr. Right was certainly a first for her.”

Indeed, the world was full of wonders, and it just happened that she ran into one…”

...

The fight outside was still not over, but the bickering inside went on as if nobody else was there.”

“Mo Zhentian, you illiterate old coot, I will certainly take care of you one day!” shouted from inside.”

“Thirteenth Lady Du, you impure fake nun, I will take care of you one day!” answered from outside.”

Gu Changsheng wiped the grease from her lips, her eyes glinting with spirit.”

She seemed to have discovered some scandalous affair, taken care of…”

Tsk tsk, you two oldies, don’t just move your mouths, actually take care of one for me to see…”

The one outside probably wasn’t all that skilled with his hands, as the fight was taking quite a long time.”

When the two oldies got tired of arguing, the one outside went back to his fight, leaving the one inside with some free time.”

“Cough cough… that is, don’t listen to that old coot’s slander, I am actually a proper Taoist Nun.” Thirteenth Lady Du glared hatefully outside for a moment before turning to face Gu Changsheng.”

“Uh-huh.” Gu Changsheng nodded, as proper as could be, in the most improper sense.”

“My lord, why are you here?” Ning Er took this opportunity to ask the question in her heart.”

“It’s all because of her!” Thirteenth Lady Du pointed at Gu Changsheng, a flicker of annoyance crossing her aged face, “I was just fine recuperating in the mountains, but then Buddy Mu sent an urgent message, insisting I come down to watch over ‘his woman.’ Look, I’ve even got a new wrinkle at the corner of my eye!””

Gu Changsheng deliberately ignored the phrase “his woman” and looked in the direction Thirteenth Lady Du was pointing.”

Alright, it was all wrinkles, forgive her poor eyesight, she really couldn’t tell which one was new!”

Suddenly confronted with an assassin in their home and the sudden appearance of two peculiar old folks, Gu Changsheng kept busy entertaining her family with dinner while waiting for the fight outside to finish.”

Thirteenth Lady Du had no qualms about sitting down right next to Gu Changsheng.”

Xiao Cui looked anxiously towards the door, resignedly serving the food and setting the chopsticks.”

“Wow, the food at your place is really good.””

Thirteenth Lady Du ate ravenously, praising the meal endlessly while doing so.”

Nonsense! Gu Changsheng rolled her eyes at Thirteenth Lady Du.”

She truly couldn’t treat this lord as a seventy-year-old elder, and she believed that she herself wouldn’t be pleased to be treated as an old person either.”

Respect for the aged and care for the young? If this ‘aged’ referred to the lady before her, she might as well save it.”

Because some people are utterly lacking in self-awareness, even snatching food from their own child!”

“Kid, this bowl of soup is mine, respect the old and care for the young!” Thirteenth Lady Du clung to the edge of the bowl, facing the Little Meat Bun across from her as if preparing for battle.”

“Respect the young and care for the old, and you were just refusing to act your age!” Little Meat Bun stubbornly clung to the other half of the bowl, protesting!”

“I may not be aged, but I’m older than you!” Thirteenth Lady Du didn’t let go.”

“I may not be young, but I’m younger than you!” Little Meat Bun persisted.”

“Children should respect their elders!”

“And the elderly should love the young first!”

Gu Changsheng watched the two of them draw their swords and fight over the food, instructing in a carefree tone, “Xiao Cui, serve me another bowl.”

One too old yet refuses to act old, one too young yet refuses to act young, tsk tsk… really!

No brains!

The two squabbling over food glanced at the new bowl in front of Gu Changsheng, looked at each other, and exclaimed in unison, “Serve me one too!”

Xiao Cui sighed as she looked at the two of them and stood up.

“Xiao Cui, sit down.” Gu Changsheng swallowed a mouthful of porridge and called out to stop her.

“There’s plenty to eat if you’re self-reliant. Either keep fighting or serve yourselves.” Are they all acting like spoiled heirs, sitting pretty and waiting to be fed?

“How can you give orders to a maid?” Thirteenth Lady Du looked at Gu Changsheng disapprovingly.

Little Meat Bun resignedly shuffled his little legs off the small chair. His body was much better now. Although he spent most of the time lying down to rest, the wound was on his neck, which really didn’t affect his movements.

Since his mother had spoken, he had no choice but to accept his fate.

“Because she’s my maid.” Gu Changsheng gave the woman who was neither behaving old nor young a sidelong glance and raised his eyebrows.

“…”

Thirteenth Lady Du had nothing to say and could only serve herself.

The sounds of the fight outside were getting quieter, while the stench of blood inside grew stronger.

Gu Changsheng frowned in disgust. This damn situation really wouldn’t let him live in peace. What if it brought the neighbors over?

“Oh, that wore me out.”

The door opened, and a similarly old and skinny tall man entered.

Gu Changsheng stared dumbfounded at the man’s extremely tattered clothing, looking more miserable than a beggar’s outfit, his eyes wide.

Such a mess from just one fight?

Zhou Mu must have sent them not to guard her but to be a burden, right?

“Ha ha… You pathetic old man, look at yourself…” Thirteenth Lady Du was the first to burst into laughter, barely able to catch her breath.

Gu Changsheng was truly worried that she might end up laughing herself into a fit.

“Haven’t fought in too long, just warming up, warming up…” Mo Zhentian interrupted Ning Er’s bow, and seeing the mostly finished food on the table, he slapped his thigh and wailed in distress, “Oh dear, you didn’t even call me for the meal.”

Gu Changsheng gave the man an exasperated look, another one who refused to act his age…

“Who’s outside?” Gu Changsheng glanced at the bodies strewn in all directions outside the door and asked.

“Dead people.” Mo Zhentian stuffed a mouthful of food and replied with two words.

“I’m asking about their identities!” Gu Changsheng’s face darkened.

“Assassins.” Mo Zhentian was still focused on eating.

Gu Changsheng’s face grew even darker, damn it, of course, she knew they were assassins. Zhou Mu must have sent these two old men to piss her off!
