Time Travel: The Best Doctor in Ancient Times

Chapter 130: Chapter 72: We have Reinforcements

No one could tolerate such provocation, not even assassins!

The sounds of rising and falling voices came one after another, and before you knew it, more than twenty people had appeared in the courtyard.

“Are you Gu Changsheng?” The person in black leading the group pointed with his longsword, his exposed eyes fierce.

“Asking when you already know!” Gu Changsheng lifted the hem of his gown and wrapped it around his waist, rolling his eyes, “Are you here to raid the house or to rob us?”

“Your life!” As soon as the person in black finished speaking, he charged forward.

The murderous aura coming head-on forced Gu Changsheng to get serious, for she had seen the assassins of this era, most of whom had a foundation in kung fu, unlike her!

...

With a flick of her wrist, a scalpel appeared in her hand, its sharp blade reflecting the cold light. Gu Changsheng didn’t move, but the corner of her mouth twisted into an eerie smile, “Then I can only reply with one phrase: no money and no life for you!”

“Kill!” The leader gave a low shout, his body erupting forward.

The rest began to close in on Gu Changsheng.

Just as Gu Changsheng was readying herself to face the enemy, she heard several whistling sounds above her, and in an instant, several small, sharp arrows had buried themselves in the bodies of the front row.

“Lady Changsheng, fall back!” An aged voice came from the roof.

Without time to think, Gu Changsheng retreated behind a pillar at the door on instinct, knowing that whoever lent a hand was a friend rather than foe.

The sound of the air being split came again, and chaos erupted in the courtyard. The previously organized assassins were suddenly thrown into disarray by the unexpected turn of events, struggling to avoid the arrows raining down from above.

“We’ve been ambushed! Kill the woman first!” The leader did a carp flip to dodge the arrows and landed under the eaves.

The others also found the zones safe from rooftop assaults. Aside from those already shot, they all jumped to shelter under the eaves.

“Kill!”

“Lady Changsheng, retreat!” Another elderly voice rang out.

Before Gu Changsheng could even respond, she was dragged inside the house, her first experience as a deserter.

Gu Changsheng stared dumbfounded at the old nanny standing before her after the door closed, utterly confused.

What in the world was happening? Hadn’t she gone out to fight? How did it come to pass that before she could lift a finger in the fight, she was inexplicably dragged back into the house? Where on earth did this wrinkly old nanny come from?

“Your subordinate pays homage to the superior!” Ning Er knelt on one knee, his expression solemn as he paid his respects.

“Get up, get up, I haven’t seen you for a while, Xiao Ningzi, you’ve grown quite a bit taller, haven’t you.” The old nanny patted Ning Er’s head, smiling kindly.

“After a long time apart, you are still more radiant than ever, superior.” Ning Er rose to his feet and spoke.

“Ahem!” Gu Changsheng couldn’t help but cough twice, wondering how the conversation had taken such a ludicrous turn.

Did they not see the gray hair, the wrinkles plastered all over that face? Gu Changsheng gave Ning Er a derisive look, thinking how blind the young were!

Ning Er stepped back to the side, still looking up at the old nanny with adoration.

“Wow, are you that Lady Changsheng?”

An old, wrinkled hand climbed onto Gu Changsheng’s face, touching from her forehead to her nose, then from her nose to her mouth…

“Tsk, tsk… such tender skin, such handsome eyebrows and eyes, such a petite nose, and lips…”

Lingering caresses continued until Gu Changsheng got goosebumps all over.

“Come on! That’s enough, I’m a woman!”

Not a handsome man; why all this rubbing? Gu Changsheng thought annoyedly and dodged the grabbing hand, moving next to Han Qiu and patted her son.

“An old lady? Where does this old lady come from?” The old nanny got angry upon hearing those words, “This Fairy Lady is a sprightly seventy, a maiden still, who are you calling old lady!”

“Pfft…” Gu Changsheng was the first who couldn’t hold back a laugh.

Everyone, “…”

Outside, the sounds of fighting continued, while Gu Changsheng was left feeling drunk in a fog.

The situation was too chaotic, perspective too overturned; she needed a moment to recover…

“Superior, Lady Changsheng was unaware of your taboo, please don’t be angry, don’t be angry…” Ning Er seeing this, quickly stepped forward to pat the old nanny’s chest to calm her down.

“Thirteenth Lady Du, have you no shame? At your age, you’re buried halfway in the yellow earth yet you pretend to be a flower in her twenties?”

The noise of the fight outside still carried on, amidst which came a voice laced with ridicule.

“Ah, you woodworker, how many times do I have to say it? Stop messing with your rotten wood day in, day out; look, taking forever just to handle a few Luoluos.”

Thirteenth Lady Du pursed her lips, unhesitant in firing back a response.

“It’s the Mo Family, not black! What my Mo Family is best at is mechanical contraptions!”
