Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1324: Chapter 855: Don’t Use the Xuanqing Sect to Intimidate Me

”Young Master, won’t this cause trouble?” Zhang Cheng said with some concern.

”Trouble? Haha, if it’s the entire Xuanqing Sect, we might need to be cautious. But if it’s just the Wang family, there’s no need to worry!”

Yang Chengye, having been an Emperor before, would naturally be aware of such schemes and conspiracies.

The Wang family’s actions are merely attempting to drag the Yang family down, to position the Yang family against the Xuanqing Sect.

By then, leveraging the might of the Xuanqing Sect, they might directly wipe out the Yang family!

This is called standing under a big tree for shade; the Wang family backs the Xuanqing Sect, and naturally looks down on the Yang family’s newly risen status.

The Yang family has revealed many extraordinary aspects in the Sea of Spirit over the years, selling millions of spirit stones worth of goods; if the Yang family were just an ordinary family, it wouldn’t be able to provide such large quantities.

But only a few insiders know of this because most goods from the Spirit Source Land are sold through the Illusion Moon Sect, the Lu family, and the Ji family, so most people believe the Yang family is just a newly risen family with shallow roots and weak power, far inferior to old-established ones.

Yang Chengye pondered briefly and made up his mind.

”Qinting, go out of town with Uncle Zhang, pretending to head to Yang Family Town!”

They certainly couldn’t act within Green Jade City; this place is the territory of the Xuanqing Sect, acting here would be like slapping the face of the Xuanqing Sect.

But once outside the city, it doesn’t matter.

Zhang Cheng and Yang Qinting had no objections to this, quickly tidying up and leaving the yard heading towards the city gates.

...

”Senior brother, they are out!”

As Zhang Cheng and Yang Qinting left the courtyard, a few figures across the street wearing gray hemp clothes immediately took notice.

Among them were six people, led by a burly man with a full beard.

This man was named Wang Shanhu, a collateral member of the Wang family, had to address Wang Qisheng as young master according to their lineage.

Wang Shanhu glanced at Zhang Cheng and Yang Qinting walking away along the street and said in a deep voice, ”Let’s go, follow them!”

With that, the six of them dispersed, trailing behind Zhang Cheng and Yang Qinting.

Their tracking skills were quite good, blending into the crowd, taking turns following Zhang Cheng and Yang Qinting, maintaining a distance that was neither too close nor too far.

If they were tracking others, it’s likely they wouldn’t be noticed.

But they were tracking Zhang Cheng.

Who is Zhang Cheng?

A personal follower of Yang Zhenshan, one of the instructors of the Secret Martial Guards, capable of charging into battle and conducting covert intelligence work; he’s truly a versatile talent.

In terms of tracking, Zhang Cheng is undoubtedly an expert.

So as soon as the six of them acted, Zhang Cheng noticed, but he didn’t show it, instead chatting casually with Yang Qinting while on their way.

Soon they exited the city, heading to the ferry port of the Sea of Spirit.

The Xuanqing Sect is north of the Sea of Spirit, while Yang Family Town is south; they need to cross the Sea of Spirit by boat to reach Yang Family Town.

Green Jade City is not far from the ferry port, only about thirty miles.

Their approach to the ferry port was near dusk, where they rented a black awning boat and set sail overnight.

It’s not that they were eager to reach Yang Family Town, but that the Sea of Spirit is safe at night; night sailing is quite normal.

After all, the Sea of Spirit is guarded by the Three Sects and Twelve Families, with no threats from any pirates or similar forces.

On the black awning boat, Yang Qinting looked behind, saying, ”Grandpa Zhang, they followed!”

”Hmm, don’t worry! The Young Master is behind us!” Zhang Cheng sat in the cabin, polishing the shining spearhead.

”Where are Uncle and the others? How come I didn’t see them?” Yang Qinting asked curiously.

”Below!” Zhang Cheng pointed under the boat.

”Below the boat?” Yang Qinting looked at the railing, surprised.

The night’s moonlight was dim, and the water beneath the boat was like black satin, making it impossible to see what was within.

Zhang Cheng smiled and explained, ”We have an elixir here known as the Sea Dragon Pill; once consumed, you can swim in the sea like a dragon. This Sea of Spirit is just a lake, after all, much less treacherous than the turbulent ocean.”

The Sea Dragon Pill, primarily refined with Sea Dragon Ginseng, both its elixir recipe and the Sea Dragon Pill were provided by the Zhang Dynasty from the Ten Thousand Miles Sea Domain.

However, later the Sea Dragon Pill’s recipe was improved, surpassing the Zhang Dynasty’s Sea Dragon Pill in effectiveness.

The Sea Dragon Pill from the Spirit Source Land allows a person to swim freely like a fish in the sea; if consumed by a Martial Artist at the Heavenly Gang Stage, you can hold your breath underwater for five to eight hours.

Yang Qinting had never heard of the Sea Dragon Pill before, as he was still young when he left the Spirit Source Land, not deeply knowledgeable about many things of the place.

He naturally hadn’t heard of more niche elixirs like the Sea Dragon Pill.

The black awning boat cut through the ink-like water surface, the oar sounds shattered into the misty dusk. At three quarters past midnight, the sky turned leaden, even the slightest star was swallowed by dense clouds, only a horn lantern hung at each end of the boat, its flame flickering tenuously.

The boatman stood hunched at the stern, the raincoat shining from dampness, the ripples generated by the bamboo pole entering the water devoured by the mist.

Suddenly, the boatman seemed to hear an unusual sound, looked sharply towards the rear, his eyes flashing keenly.

A person able to navigate boats on the Sea of Spirit isn’t an ordinary person, at least with Innate or above cultivation.

The boatman clearly was an experienced sailor, instantly alert from the slightest unusual sound.

”Guests, we seem to have trouble!” the boatman spoke to Zhang Cheng and Yang Qinting within the boat.

”No problem, just keep navigating!” Zhang Cheng stood at the stern holding a long spear, speaking in a deep voice.

The boatman glanced up at the long spear in Zhang Cheng’s hand, remained silent, continued to work the oar.

While there’s no pirate activity on the Sea of Spirit, it doesn’t mean nothing happens.

At deep night with dense mist, a vast water region is ideal for committing mischief.

Soon, six figures emerged through layers of mist, appearing behind the black awning boat.

They walked on the lake surface, barely visible like spectres amidst the heavy mist.

”Capture them alive!”

Wang Shanhu looked at the black awning boat, speaking coldly.

Next moment, the six darted through the thick mist, charging towards the black awning boat like arrows.

However, as they approached three yards of the boat, the ink-like lake exploded, nine figures propelled out with blistering water flames.

”Damn, staying at the bottom of the lake is really uncomfortable!” Yang Chengye landed on the lake surface, shaking off water.

”Haha, Young Master, there are plenty of fish at the lake bottom; we should come to catch some someday!” Luo Bo laughed, patting his soaked clothes.

The Sea of Spirit is somewhat like a Spirit Lake, its waters filled with spiritual energy; though not comparable to the Spirit River in the Spirit Source Land, nor the lake within that Ancient Array, but many treasure fish with spiritual energy reside here.

Their sudden appearance reversed the situation instantly; what was Wang Shanhu’s six attacking the black awning boat, became Yang Chengye’s nine encircling the six.

The boatman’s oar-moving paused slightly, then quickly returned to normal, continuing his work as usual.

Having sailed this Sea of Spirit for over sixty years, he had experienced all situations, what lay before him was far from overwhelming.

Meanwhile, Wang Shanhu and others halted their attack on the boat, cautiously eyeing the six newcomers.

”Who are you? How dare you obstruct us!” Wang Shanhu shouted fiercely.

”Haha, you already know!” Yang Chengye waved the long spear in his hand, ”We are the ones meant to kill you!”

”Yang family?”

”Indeed, Yang Chengye of the Yang family!”

”Hmph, the Yang family is bold indeed! Daring to ambush members of the Xuanqing Sect!”

Yang Chengye showed a disdainful expression, ”Xuanqing Sect? Aren’t you just Wang family dogs?”

”Don’t use the Xuanqing Sect to pressure me, after this, we will demand justice from the Xuanqing Sect!”
