Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1310: Chapter 849: Twin Disciple

Spiritual Spring Mountain Plateau.

In the hall, Yang Zhenshan sat in the master seat, looking at the two little girls in front of him.

The two little girls looked about seven or eight years old, almost identical in appearance, clearly a pair of twins.

The two little girls stood with their hands down, with smooth egg-shaped faces, eyebrows lightly painted like distant mountains, noses like beautiful jade, and rosy baby cheeks that made one want to pinch them.

They were dressed in light pink high-waisted ru skirts, with the top embroidered with entwined peach blossom patterns, their cuffs adorned with moon-white gauze, and the lower skirts hanging to their feet, with hems embroidered with fine butterflies chasing flowers. A goose-yellow silk belt with a small white jade double fish pendant hung at their waists. They looked like little fairy children walked out from a meticulously painted lady picture, exuding a natural and innocent charm.

Even though it had been a long time since Yang Zhenshan last cared for children, upon seeing these two adorable and innocent little girls, he couldn’t help but reveal the kindly demeanor of a grandfather.

”Whose little fairies are these!” Yang Zhenshan stroked his beard, his eyes full of kindness.

”Replying to granduncle, they are the daughters of the Li family in Fuhai, Li Janning, and Li Jianan, both eight years old, and both have practiced Green Wood Skill!”

Yang Chengyi beside him responded.

Yang Chengyi was the son of Yang Mingzhen and had previously held positions in the government on Divine Wood Island, later working in the Foreign Affairs Hall. In recent years, he has been responsible for the garrison duties of the Da’an Dynasty and for seeking out Spiritual Acupoints within the dynasty.

He returned this time because he discovered these two little girls with spiritual apertures.

”Jianning, Jianan, haha, good names, the Fuhai Li family?” Yang Zhenshan laughed.

”The ancestors of the Fuhai Li family once served as the Grand Secretary in the Da Rong Cabinet, named Li Siyuan!” Yang Chengyi explained.

Yang Zhenshan stroked his beard and thought, recalling the appearance and traits of that old gentleman from deep in his memory.

Li Siyuan served as an official for forty years, was in the Cabinet for over twenty years, and served as the Grand Secretary for more than ten years, being the most renowned virtuous minister during Emperor Chengping’s reign.

”So they are descendants of Grand Secretary Li!”

He had no interactions and thus no acquaintance with Li Siyuan.

Moreover, Li Siyuan had passed away more than fifty years ago. He retired and returned to his hometown in the first year of the Yanping era and died a few years after retiring. At that time, Yang Zhenshan was still in Chongshan Town.

However, these details were unimportant; the key was that these two little girls had spiritual apertures.

”Very well, are you willing to accept me as your master?”

He already had five disciples, and adding these two would make it exactly seven.

”Disciple pays respects to Master!” The two little girls obediently knelt and bowed, their soft voices very pleasant to hear.

Clearly, someone had instructed them before they came.

”Very well, stand up!” Yang Zhenshan waved his sleeves gently, and the two little girls were lifted by a gentle mana.

The little girls felt the lifting force appear out of thin air and looked at Yang Zhenshan with wonder, their bright eyes like black gemstones.

”Where are their parents?” Yang Zhenshan stood up, finally unable to resist, and gently stroked their hair buns.

”All twelve of their family members have been brought back and are living in the courtyard on West Pavilion Mountain!” Yang Chengyi replied.

Yang Zhenshan nodded slightly, ”Then follow the rules to allocate them houses and land!”

Currently, the Spirit Source Land seldom accepted outsiders, but there were exceptions for those with spiritual apertures and their families.

All who came to the Spirit Source Land would be allocated houses and land, and they would also receive periodic subsidies for twenty years, which would generally cover their daily needs.

They shouldn’t expect great wealth, but their living standard could certainly reach a comfortable level.

As for the future, that would depend on themselves.

Living in the Spirit Source Land wasn’t difficult; as long as they worked diligently, they could surely have enough food and clothing, and with abundant resources available, cultivation was much easier.

Twenty years was enough for a fifteen or sixteen-year-old to become an Innate Martial Artist and receive a cultivation salary.

As Yang Zhenshan’s disciples, the two little girls could also receive a salary based on the lowest level of cultivation salary.

”Understood!”

Yang Chengyi responded.

Yang Zhenshan looked at the two little girls again, his face showing more kindness, and smiled, ”You can return for now and come to the mountain for cultivation once your family is settled!”

”Master, do we continue to practice the Green Wood Skill?” the little girl asked.

Yang Zhenshan looked at the two girls, unsure if the speaker was Li Jianan or Li Janning.

”No, once you come, I will have your senior brother take you to choose a cultivation technique!” Yang Zhenshan smiled.

Having spiritual apertures meant they could undergo skill inheritance at the Transmission Hall of the ancient array as soon as they sensed their Qi, unlike Martial Artists who had to reach the Heavenly Gang Stage before accepting inheritance.

The Green Wood Skill was only the first level technique of the Qingmu Longevity Scripture and might not be suitable for these two little girls to cultivate, so it was better to let them undergo inheritance first before beginning their cultivation.

Before cultivation, there were also many lessons they needed to complete; reading and literacy were fundamental, and there was no way around it.

”Oh, then what cultivation technique should we practice?”

”You need to read and learn first! Hmm, how many characters do you know?”

”Ah, must we read and learn?”

”Of course, how can you understand the cultivation techniques if you can’t even recognize the characters?” Yang Zhenshan patiently explained to the little girl.

”But disciple doesn’t like reading!” The little girl showed a slightly aggrieved expression.

”Oh, what books have you read?”

”The Three Character Classic, the Thousand Character Classic, Young Learners’ Treasury, Standards for Being a Good Student, Poems of a Thousand Masters, Anthology of Ancient Prose, I’ve read a lot of books!” The little girl counted on her fingers.
