Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1303: Chapter 846: The Imposing Second Master

“What do you think?” Yang Zhenshan looked at the crowd, and everyone looked at each other in dismay.

Some things they are not suitable to say, especially when it involves the Yang family, they cannot freely express their opinions.

Seeing everyone’s silence, An Yuxing pondered for a moment and said, “Should we discuss this matter?”

Yang Zhenshan shook his head, “No need, I know what you’re concerned about, but today I want to tell you, everything should be based on cultivation!”

“We are cultivators, we respect the height of the realm, not the size of power.”

“Making Chengmao the Tower Lord, the one being wronged is him, not others!”

What these people are worried about is nothing more than the sequence of seniority. According to logic, Yang Chengye should be the eldest grandson of the Yang family. If Yang Zhenshan doesn’t become the Ziwei Tower Lord, he should let Yang Mingcheng or Yang Chengye take the position, not Yang Chengmao!

This is the family’s inheritance model, but the problem is that the Spirit Source Land is no longer a family, but a sect.

Since it is a sect, it must follow the sect model.

For a sect, the Sect Master is actually more like a big manager, not the owner of the sect.

Take the Lingxiu Three Sects, their Sect Masters are all Martial Gods, and the Twelve Families, their Family Heads are all Heavenly Gang Stage martial artists. Some families follow direct lineage inheritance, some families even only look at ability, distinguishing no more between direct and collateral branches.

Immortal cultivating families are yet another example, many directly implement the division between the mortal and the immortal, separating by generational hierarchy.

For example, if a family member is detected to have a spiritual aperture, the family will nurture him as an immortal cultivator, first granting him a generational rank, and then moving away from the original family to train in the Spirit Vein.

This generational hierarchy is quite interesting, it’s not sorted by seniority, but by time.

Generally, twenty years constitutes a generation. In these twenty years, all those detected with spiritual apertures share the same generation, ranked by the time of detection.

Thus, the immortal cultivators in the family have a set of independent generational rankings, very different from other clansmen.

Yang Zhenshan didn’t consider implementing a division between the mortal and the immortal, but he respects cultivation as the highest, prioritizing improvement in cultivation.

This was also his original intention in setting up the cultivation salary.

The appointment of Yang Chengmao as Ziwei Tower Lord isn’t due to Yang Zhenshan’s favoritism, but because Yang Chengmao is the most familiar with the affairs of the Spirit Source Land and the most suitable to oversee the position of Ziwei Tower Lord.

And as Yang Chengmao spends time and effort on these miscellaneous tasks, it will inevitably affect his cultivation.

Now he has gained power, but in the future, his cultivation might be surpassed by his brothers.

Hence Yang Zhenshan said the one being wronged is Yang Chengmao, not others.

“Mingcheng, what do you think!” Yang Zhenshan looked at Yang Mingcheng.

Yang Mingcheng looked at Yang Chengmao, “Indeed, Chengmao is the one wronged, I think we can give Chengmao more resources!”

“The cultivation salary cannot be changed, but the position salary can be increased somewhat, but not too much, let it exceed three-tenths more than others!” Yang Zhenshan readily agreed.

In the Spirit Source Land, the cultivation salary is the main aspect, while the position salary is merely supplementary.

The reason for setting the position salary lower than the cultivation salary is to encourage everyone to strive for cultivation instead of spending time and energy on power struggles.

“And you, Chengye, any opinions?” Yang Zhenshan turned to Yang Chengye again.

Yang Chengye spread his hands, “Grandfather, I’ve had enough of being an Emperor!”

If he liked power, he wouldn’t have abandoned the throne of Da’an and returned back then.

Yang Zhenshan nodded with satisfaction, then turned to the crowd and said, “Later, add a tenure system for high-level positions, setting terms for Tower Lords and City Lords. They can renew terms, but cannot hold the position indefinitely, a maximum of three consecutive terms.”

“Yes!” Yang Chengmao responded.

Yang Zhenshan continued, “The reform is decided, how to implement it you can discuss yourselves, now let’s talk about the matters of Lian Family Town, no, Yang Family Town!”

“Yang Family Town needs a Martial God to guard, Old Liang, Old An, you two plan a schedule, and rotate to guard there!”

An Yuxing and Liang Shengze glanced at each other and said, “Let me start first, your injuries need more recovery time!”

Yang Family Town also has a Spirit Vein, although the concentration of Spiritual Energy isn’t as rich as the Spirit Source Land, it can still be a training ground for Golden Body Realm martial artists, so guarding there won’t delay cultivation.

Yang Zhenshan, seeing their arrangement, turned to Yang Mingzhi, “Who can your Foreign Affairs Hall arrange to be responsible?”

Although the reform is decided, it hasn’t been implemented yet, so this matter is still handled by the Foreign Affairs Hall.

Yang Mingzhi thought for a moment and said, “Specific affairs can be entrusted to Qu Chengliu!”

Qu Chengliu, Yang Wanqing’s second son, is already over fifty.

“What is his current cultivation?”

“Earth Evil Stage!”

“Not enough!” Yang Zhenshan slightly shook his head.

Yang Family Town needs a head, equivalent to a Family Head, at least with Heavenly Gang Stage cultivation.

“Then let Yang Chengzhang go, he broke through to Heavenly Gang Stage two years ago and needs to gain experience, he has time to handle some affairs!” Yang Mingzhi suggested.

“Okay, later ask him if there are any problems!” Yang Zhenshan nodded.

Yang Mingzhi asked, “How do we handle the Lingxi Yang Family over there? And how many people should we send over here?”

A town can accommodate thousands of people, with over three thousand acres of spirit fields, at least a thousand are needed to manage it.
