Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1115: Chapter 756: Ambush and Counterattack

At the foot of the mountain where the Transmission Hall is located, Yang Zhenshan cautiously made his way through the forest alone.

Since he was leaving the Ancient Relic Array, it was naturally impossible for him to bring the Green Wolves along, so he had to travel by himself.

Without the Green Wolves to keep watch, Yang Zhenshan returned to his cautious state as he traveled alone, slowly making his way through the forest.

”I wonder how Lan Peng and the others are doing?”

Yang Zhenshan thought to himself as he journeyed.

During this past month, he hadn’t contacted anyone, and even if he encountered someone, he either took a wide detour or had the Green Wolves drive them away.

This left him completely unaware of everyone else’s situation.

Lan Peng and the others’ primary goal was to forge Spiritual Objects for the Golden Body; Lan Peng needed Gold Attribute objects, while Lu Youning and Bai Mingyue needed Fire Attribute objects, both of which could be found in the Ancient Array.

In the eastern part of the Ancient Array, there was said to be a mine with dual attributes of gold and fire, containing many high-level Gold and Fire Attribute ores.

Lan Peng and his team’s target was this mine; if they were lucky, they might obtain a few ores that could serve as Spirit Base materials.

In fact, Yang Zhenshan also considered mining, but he dismissed the idea after some thought.

There were definitely a lot of people there, and if he went, he wouldn’t benefit much.

If the place was deserted, he could have brought people from the Spirit Source Land to dig together.

Yang Zhenshan felt a tinge of regret.

”Guess I’ll have to wait for next time!”

Yang Zhenshan thought to himself.

Just then, as he leaped from a large tree, he suddenly felt a strong sense of foreboding. Without any hesitation, his body, which was originally leaping forward, abruptly halted, and he seemingly got yanked backward, retreating more than ten yards.

At the same time, two sharp flashes whizzed past his face, almost brushing against his clothes.

In the next moment, a cold sword edge assaulted him head-on.

Yang Zhenshan’s face was grim, his eyes narrowed as he watched the figure emerge from the treetop ahead. He thrust his spear, shattering the incoming sword edge.

Damn, these guys were here waiting to ambush me?

Yang Zhenshan cursed inwardly. If he hadn’t reacted swiftly, he would have been severely injured, if not dead.

The blade glints from the sides and the sword edge from the front formed a virtual net; if he had moved just one foot further, he would have had three additional wounds, and the sword’s edge might have even chopped off his head.

”Ha, not bad, quick reaction!”

Three figures slowly emerged from the dense foliage, the speaker being the person standing on the tree opposite Yang Zhenshan.

This person wore a light blue robe, was slightly skinny, had an ordinary face, and bore several wrinkles.

The other two were also in light blue robes and appeared equally aged.

All of them were nearing the end of their lifespans, trying their luck in this Ancient Relic Array.

Judging by their attire, they were likely stewards of the Xuanqing Sect.

The three major sects did dispatch people here, with each sending three to five people into the Ancient Array. These individuals were stewards whose lifespans were nearly over, and their sole purpose for entering the Ancient Array was to find Spiritual Objects to forge Spirit Bases.

For people like them, the odds of a breakthrough were very slim, but some remained unwilling to give up, hoping to seize one last chance for a breakthrough before their lifespans ended.

Don’t think they are useless just because they’re old; these old fellows are well-cultivated, having reached the peak of the Heavenly Gang Stage.

Facing such three old guys, Yang Zhenshan was indeed a bit apprehensive!

There’s no way around it; he had only broken through to the Heavenly Gang Stage less than a year ago, whereas the three before him had been immersed in it for decades.

If he faced just one, Yang Zhenshan might have stood a chance, but confronting all three at once, he had no confidence at all.

As for why they intercepted him, isn’t it obvious?

They were lying in wait to ambush someone like Yang Zhenshan who was planning to leave the Ancient Array.

Upon seeing the three reveal themselves, Yang Zhenshan didn’t say a word and immediately executed the ”Thirty-Six Stratagems”, choosing the Stratagem of Running Away.

He turned on his heels and shot back in the direction he came from like an arrow leaving the bowstring.

”Trying to run?”

The slightly skinny elder noticed and smirked coldly, immediately giving chase.

The other two elders also pursued relentlessly.

”Honored elders, we bear no grudges, why go to such lengths to attack me?” Yang Zhenshan was not slow, his entire being flickered like a shadow in the forest.

Although he couldn’t fly through the air as fast as these old guys, in this wooded area, he was no slower than them.

”Young man, you can’t blame us for this; blame your bad luck!” the slightly skinny elder said.

Upon hearing this, a cold glint flickered in Yang Zhenshan’s eyes.

Damn, if that’s the case, then don’t blame me for being ruthless!

Seeing the rocks ahead, he sped up, darting behind the rocks, then with a thought, returned to the Spirit Source Land.

Three old bastards, do you really think I’m easy to bully?

Yang Zhenshan stood in the Spirit Source Land, eyes observing the outside.

His sudden disappearance left the three elders in a state of alarm and suspicion.

The three elders cautiously scanned their surroundings; moments ago they only saw Yang Zhenshan dart behind the rocks, and the next instant when they followed, he had vanished without a trace.
