Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 1101: Chapter 749: The Extravagance of the Three Major Sects

After a brief exchange of pleasantries, the group finally sat down in the hall and began discussing the journey to the Ancient Relic Array.

In fact, there wasn’t much to discuss that hadn’t already been mentioned by Lan Peng to Yang Zhenshan on the way there.

”This is the map of the interior of the Ancient Relic Array. Uncle An and Mr. Yang will definitely head to the Transmission Hall eventually. Although we will also go there, it might be our last stop, so we must act separately once we’re inside!”

Lu Youning handed a map to Yang Zhenshan, who opened it to take a look.

The Ancient Relic Array covers an area of a hundred miles in circumference, with an expansive internal space, characterized by towering peaks and countless relics.

There are the Sect Main Hall, the Transmission Hall, the Heavenly Craft Hall, Wanshi Hall, and the Medicinal Garden, among others.

Every place is protected by an array, and each contains many treasures.

Even though the sects and families from the Sea of Spirit have entered dozens of times, the resources within have not been entirely collected.

Especially the Medicinal Garden, with seven sites in the whole relic, which are still operational. Each time the relic opens, numerous Spirit Fruits and Medicines mature, hence its great appeal to the Three Sects and Twelve Families.

”What about these places?” Yang Zhenshan asked as he noticed many blank areas on the map.

Lan Peng glanced at him and smiled, ”Those places should be cultivation caves of disciples from the Ancient Sect. These caves are all protected by arrays. Inside, they might contain treasures left by the disciples, or perhaps nothing at all!”

Yang Zhenshan suddenly realized, it’s like a blind box!

”And what about over here?”

”That’s a lake, filled with treasures, but also teeming with many Mutant Beasts. It’s the most dangerous place in the relic, and I suggest you avoid it!” Lan Peng said.

Yang Zhenshan nodded slightly, then asked a few more questions, which Lan Peng answered one by one.

Suddenly, Yang Zhenshan asked another question, ”Why don’t the Martial God Realm warriors enter it? If they did, shouldn’t there be greater rewards?”

Upon hearing this, everyone turned their gaze toward Yang Zhenshan.

Lu Youning laughed, ”Brother Lan didn’t mention it to Mr. Yang?”

Lan Peng slapped his forehead, ”I completely forgot about it!”

”The relic is still operational and does not permit warriors above the Martial God Realm to enter. If a Martial God Realm master enters, they will be obliterated by the relic!”

”At the beginning, the Three Sects were unaware of this detail and sent three Martial God Realm masters inside, none of whom returned!”

”As for the reason, well, the relic prevents enemy intrusions but doesn’t stop flies or mosquitoes from entering.”

Yang Zhenshan was momentarily stunned, ”Flies and mosquitoes? Are we flies and mosquitoes?”

”Yes, hahaha, that’s exactly the implication!” Lan Peng laughed.

After thinking for a moment, Yang Zhenshan roughly understood what he meant, and he revealed a wry smile.

Lu Youning explained, ”Because Innate Martial Artists are not worth the use of the Great Array’s power. A Great Array of this caliber, once activated, consumes an immense amount of Spiritual Energy.”

”It would be a tremendous waste to use it to kill a few Innate Martial Artists.”

Yang Zhenshan nodded knowingly.

Shooting mosquitoes with a cannon!

The Ancient Sect wasn’t foolish; why would they do such a thing?

Therefore, the Great Array they set up only attacks those above the Martial God Realm; weaklings like Innate Martial Artists are blocked by the array, but if they do enter, they won’t face immediate obliteration.

If this Ancient Sect still existed, a few Innate Martial Artists sneaking in might easily be annihilated by a single disciple, without needing the array.

After chatting a bit more, Lu Youning arranged for the servants to escort Yang Zhenshan and his group down for some rest.

The night passed uneventfully, and early the next morning, the group set off for the Ancient Relic Array.

A distance of over a thousand miles would take two to three days on horseback.

Traveling light with minimal gear, they required no escort, and with swift horses, they soon arrived at a massive compound near the Ancient Relic Array.

This region lies within the Wanlin Mountain Range, surrounded by rolling hills and numerous villages and Martial Arts Families.

However, these families stand no chance against the Three Great Sects.

The compound before them was specially constructed by the Three Great Sects for access to the Ancient Relic Array, serving as a shared asset of the Three Sects.

Every ten years, the Three Sects take turns managing the compound and overseeing the access to the Ancient Relic Array.

This year, the Xuanqing Sect was responsible for this task.

Upon arriving at the compound, Yang Zhenshan and his companions were warmly received by a steward from the Xuanqing Sect.

This was an Outer Sect steward named Zhang, with a cultivation at the Heavenly Gang Stage.

”Second Young Master Lu, General Lan, your accommodations have already been prepared. Please follow me!” Steward Zhang enthusiastically led the group into the compound.

”Steward Zhang, have the other families arrived?” Lu Youning asked.

”The Yan family and the Lian family arrived yesterday; they’re in the neighboring courtyards!” Steward Zhang pointed to the two adjacent courtyards.

Lu Youning nodded slightly and, having given simple instructions, Steward Zhang departed.

Yang Zhenshan followed Lan Peng, observing the courtyard. It was decent, spacious enough for twenty to thirty people to live comfortably.

Moreover, all meals and services here were provided uniformly by the Three Great Sects, with great attention to detail.

”The Xuanqing Sect is quite hospitable!” noted Yang Zhenshan.

Lan Peng, however, let out a cold laugh, ”Don’t forget, we’re here to risk our lives for them!”

Yang Zhenshan stroked his beard, ”Aren’t they sending any disciples in?”

”They won’t, at most sending a few stewards whose lifespans are nearing the end for a venture!” Lan Peng replied.
