Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 948: Chapter 672: Lu Wenquan and Lin Zhan (Part 2)

Lu Miaoshu entered the Yang Family Village and soon found Yang Minghui.

Now Yang Minghui is also nearly eighty years old, only two years younger than Yang Zhenshan.

However, Yang Minghui’s physique is still robust, and he walks with a gust of wind.

Yang Minghui is also a Martial Artist, a Postnatal Martial Artist at that. Although his strength is mediocre, don’t forget he’s also been drinking Spiritual Spring Water for many years, and Yang Zhenshan would never forget the Yang clan’s Spiritual Spring Water.

With the nourishment of Spiritual Spring Water, Yang Minghui may not have great accomplishments in Martial Arts, but he’s certainly destined to be a long-lived person.

”It’s Miaoshu, haha, come in quickly!”

Seeing Lu Miaoshu arrive, Yang Minghui warmly invited him into the main room.

His grandson, Yang Jiye, led Lu Miaoshu into the main room and then instructed a servant to brew tea.

Yang Chengze has three sons: Yang Jizu, Yang Jizong, and Yang Jiye.

The person in front of us is Yang Chengze’s third son, Yang Jiye.

Currently, Yang Jizu is staying with Yang Chengze, Yang Jizong is working in Chongshan Town, while Yang Jiye remains within the clan.

This Yang Jiye is the one Yang Minghui has designated as the successor of the Yang clan leader.

Actually, it was supposed to be Yang Jizu who inherits the position, but Yang Chengze believes his eldest and second sons have great talent in Martial Arts, so he didn’t want them to be confined to the Yang Family Village.

In fact, he was reluctant to even send Yang Jiye back to the Yang Family Village. Being the clan leader of the Yang family seems prestigious, but in reality, it’s not much of a position.

Now Yang Mingwu, Yang Chengze, Yang Chengxu, and others — none of them are less distinguished than Yang Minghui.

It’s only because the ancestral land cannot be abandoned that Yang Chengze had no choice but to let Yang Jiye return to inherit the clan leader position.

Lu Miaoshu took a seat, first inquiring about Yang Minghui’s health before talking about business.

”The Marquis plans to raise an army and head south. He specially sent a letter inviting my father to Chongshan Pass to oversee. My father has decided to set off in three days, but he wants to take some students from the clan school!” said Lu Miaoshu.

Yang Minghui nodded slightly, ”I also received a letter from Chengye, also asking some members of the clan to be sent over. Perfect, they can go with you!”

Although the younger generation of the Yang clan doesn’t have anyone outstanding, there are many with a solid foundation and decent abilities.

These mediocre talents may be insignificant in the Yang Family Village, but when sent to Chongshan Town, they could at least become officers of a thousand or a hundred households, and some familiar with administrative tasks could become auxiliary officials.

Yang Minghui suddenly lowered his voice and asked, ”Is Chengye going to~~”

He didn’t finish the sentence, but the implication was clear.

Lu Miaowen smiled, ”It should be!”

Yang Minghui grinned, ”That’s good, that’s good! Ah, I’m getting old and can’t see some things clearly, but in this matter, the Yang clan must fully support it!”

If Yang Chengye were to seize the world, the Yang clan would be considered a branch of the royal family. Although they couldn’t gain a title, just having the name of a royal family branch would bring many benefits to the Yang clan.

By then, they would no longer be the Liaodong Yang clan but the Da Rong Yang clan.

And the offspring of the Yang family wouldn’t be limited to Liaodong and Chongshan Town but would spread throughout Da Rong and even beyond.

Yang Minghui inherited Yang Zhengxiang’s ambitions, always focused on following the Yang family’s footsteps to continually develop and grow.

In fact, it was the father and son who were the primary contributors to the rise of the Yang clan, while Yang Zhenshan was at most the guide and sponsor of the clan’s development.

After chatting a bit more, Lu Miaowen then left the Yang Family Village to return to Qinghe Town.

Meanwhile, as Lu Wenquan was preparing his luggage to head to Chongshan Pass, Lin Zhan in Pingyuan East Sun Prefecture also received a letter from Yang Chengye.

In the study, after reading the letter in his hand, Lin Zhan couldn’t help but smile, ”Things are going to get busy next!”

Ding Lu asked, ”Master, does the Marquis have any instructions?”

”Yes, Chengye is preparing to head south to campaign against King Da Liang. We need to prepare some provisions for him!” Lin Zhan replied.

”Campaign against King Da Liang!” Ding Lu’s eyes lit up, ”Is the Marquis planning to?”

Lin Zhan looked at him and laughed, ”Regardless of what Chengye plans, we need to propel him to that position! The realm needs a new ruler!”

Although Lin Zhan is now nearly fifty, unlike Lu Wenquan’s restraint, his temper has become more flamboyant with age.

This confidence comes from the strength and power he’s gained, and it’s also thanks to having Yang Zhenshan as his master for backing.

In fact, in Liaodong, it wasn’t Lu Wenquan who was the most resistant to the court, but Lin Zhan.

The court promoted Lu Wenquan, and he submitted a letter of resignation.

But when the court promoted Lin Zhan, he simply ignored it.

Back then, when Emperor Jianxing didn’t transfer Lu Wenquan back to the Capital City, he thought of transferring Lin Zhan instead.

What happened next?

Lin Zhan completely ignored the court’s transfer order.

Strictly speaking, Lin Zhan is still just an assistant in the Ping Yuan government’s office, but in reality, his power is comparable to the governor of Ping Yuan.

He has the Governor’s Office, the Capital Commander’s Department, the Inspector General’s Office, and the Martial Arts Department firmly in his grip.

Lin Zhan’s methods are much more aggressive than Lu Wenquan’s.

Perhaps influenced by Yang Zhenshan, Lin Zhan doesn’t like to scheme and plot; he prefers to act decisively without much argument.

Thus, Lin Zhan now resembles a local tyrant, keeping all officials in Ping Yuan obedient.

And if Yang Chengye wants to start a rebellion, Lin Zhan would absolutely support it with both hands raised.

This isn’t just his personal stance but the stance of many officials in Liaodong.

In times of chaos, who doesn’t want to establish great achievements alongside a new ruler?

With the Yang family holding Liaodong and Chongshan Town, they naturally have the foundation to compete for the world, so many hope the Yang family will stand up and rally.

It’s just that Yang Chengye’s side hadn’t shown any signs yet, and Lu Wenquan and Lin Zhan had been holding back, so no one dared to take the initiative to approach Yang Chengye.

Lin Zhan suppressed the voices of the subordinate officials, not because he didn’t support Yang Chengye, but because he knew that this needed Yang Zhenshan’s approval.

If Yang Zhenshan didn’t approve, he, as a disciple, naturally couldn’t overstep.

Lin Zhan thought it over and instructed, ”Send someone to Jizhou, and have them prepare the granaries there. We will need to transport a large amount of provisions to Jizhou next!”

Jizhou doesn’t belong to Ping Yuan; it falls under the administration of Shanhe, but that doesn’t matter. What’s important is that Jizhou is also controlled by Lin Zhan.

The prefect of Jizhou and the garrison are both Lin Zhan’s confidants.

Lin Zhan is well aware of Jizhou’s importance, so he has long since laid out his plans there, relying on the influence of the Hengdao Sect to firmly grasp Jizhou in his hands.

After instructing Ding Lu, Lin Zhan immediately arranged for a meeting with the chief officers of various government offices.

At this moment, with a smile on his face, he walks with confidence, and his entire being is filled with enthusiasm.

Finally, he no longer has to muddle through his days.

At long last, there’s no more waiting with bated breath.

Finally, it’s time to truly get things done!
