Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 921: Chapter 659: Martial Arts Are the True Pursuit of the Yang Family!

An Yuxing looked at the wine gourd in his hand, then looked up at the soldiers in the training field, his face turning blue and white alternately, then he couldn’t help but curse, ”Damn it~~”

He had always been resentful towards those useless descendants, believing they were all a bunch of good-for-nothings, with the progress of their training being as slow as death.

Looking at the children and grandchildren of the Yang family, and then looking at those of the An family, he sometimes really wanted to slap those useless offspring to death.

It’s one thing to be inferior to the Yang family, but they can’t even compare to other families.

Like the Liang family, the Zhou family, the Hengdao Sect, the Xue family, and so on.

In recent years, many young talents have emerged from the Marquis Haichang’s Mansion and the Xue family, but his An family, apart from An Chenhui, hasn’t produced a single decent talent.

Now thinking back, An Yuxing suddenly realized it was himself who had squandered the resources meant for his descendants.

”No wonder, no wonder!”

”The old me, really, really~~”

He really wanted to curse, wanted to curse himself, but in the end, he didn’t.

”Can they all drink this kind of wine?” An Yuxing pointed to the training field opposite and asked.

Yang Chengmao hesitated for a moment, ”Occasionally they can drink it, during festivals, Grandfather would reward them and let people prepare wine and dishes for a feast!”

An Yuxing felt a bit heartbroken.

Damn it, how much wine has he drunk over the years?

Although Yang Zhenshan had left Da Rong, he never forgot him, sending him twenty or thirty jars of wine every year. These wines could have been resources for training his descendants, but he drank them all himself.

If he had known the effects of this wine, he would have restrained himself and drunk less.

Alas~~

An Yuxing left without a word, no, he had Yang Chengmao bid farewell to Yang Zhenshan for him.

As for why he left, it’s simple. He wanted to move the An family to Divine Wood Island.

The old guy had his own plans, without even discussing it with Yang Zhenshan, he went back to gather people.

He wanted to latch onto Yang Zhenshan, latch onto the Yang family.

And just as An Yuxing departed, Yang Chengye arrived at Divine Wood Island.

Standing at the bow of the ship, Yang Chengye gazed at the harbor under construction, feeling a bit overwhelmed, almost like a wanderer returning home.

Although it was his first time on Divine Wood Island, the Yang family was his home, wherever Yang Zhenshan was, his home should be there.

Before Yang Chengye’s ship reached the dock, he saw many figures standing on the platform at the dock.

”Dad!” a teenage boy even jumped up and waved at him.

Yang Chengye looked at those figures, a bright smile spread across his face.

Standing next to him, Mrs. Yu and Yang Ruohan also showed expressions of joy.

Especially Yang Ruohan, who happily waved and shouted, ”Big Brother, Second Brother, Third Brother, Big Sister!”

Yang Chengye had three sons and two daughters. Apart from his youngest daughter, Yang Ruohan, all his other children were on Divine Wood Island. Yang Ruohan hadn’t come to Divine Wood Island because she was still young.

She was only ten years old now, and there was an understanding within the Yang family that children outside would be sent to the family for training at thirteen. At fifteen, once they became martial artists, they would start arranging marriages. After marriage, they would have children if it was time to, and train if it was time to.

If there’s no necessary reason, they would stay obediently at the Yang family.

So, Yang Chengye’s three sons Yang Qinyuan, Yang Qinming, and Yang Qisheng were all on the island, as was his daughter Yang Ruochen, who had married Wu Anhe, the youngest son of Wu Zhan.

At this time, those who stood at the port to welcome them were Yang Chengye’s children and grandchildren.

As the ship docked, everyone rushed to greet them, Yang Chengye laughed so heartily that his face wrinkled!

Mrs. Yu was the same, looking at this grandson and hugging that granddaughter, she couldn’t be happier.

”Dad, let’s go home quickly, Great-grandfather is still waiting for you at home!” Yang Qinyuan stood beside Yang Chengye and softly reminded him.

Yang Chengye nodded slightly and said, ”Alright, let’s go back first!”

Then they took a small boat and headed to the opposite side of the lake.

Once they got off the boat again, Yang Qinyuan began introducing the area to Yang Chengye.

”Dad, this side is the commercial district, the government has already planned it, and construction is set to start after the New Year!”

”Over there is the school. The government plans to build three middle schools on the island. This is one of them. The other two will be in the towns on the island,”

”Dad, that’s the government, it used to be the Divine Wood Sect’s temple, our courtyard is over there by the temple!”

He pointed to the yards to the east of the temple, some were large, some were small, they used to be residences for Divine Wood Sect followers, now they were the residence for the Yang family.

Those courtyards still needed construction, the government had new plans in place, but the construction might have to wait a year, there’s just too much building needed on Divine Wood Island, it will take at least three to four years to complete the basic infrastructure.

Moments later, they arrived at Yang Zhenshan’s courtyard.

Yang Zhenshan and Yu Qingyi were already waiting in the hall, and they weren’t the only ones. Yang Mingcheng and Ms. Wang had also been released by Yang Zhenshan.

”Grandfather, Grandmother, Dad, Mom!”

With Yang Chengye leading the way, a large group of people knelt and kowtowed.

Yang Zhenshan, looking at the broad-shouldered and thick-waisted Yang Chengye, was all smiles.

The eldest grandson had returned, and as a grandfather, he was very happy, smiling so much you couldn’t see his eyes.

”Hmm, not bad, was the journey smooth?”

Yang Zhenshan supported Yang Chengye, patting him on the shoulder.

”Yes, very smooth, everything went perfectly, nothing unexpected happened.” Yang Chengye laughed.

After simple courtesies, Yang Zhenshan took Yang Chengye and Yang Mingcheng to the study, while Yu Qingyi, Ms. Wang, Mrs. Yu, and Mrs. Luo chatted in the hall.

It was rather interesting to have daughters-in-law, granddaughters-in-law, and great-granddaughters-in-law gathered in one place.

Mrs. Yu introduced Yang Ruohan to her great-grandmother and grandmother, Yang Ruohan was ten this year and would be eleven after the New Year.

She resembled Mrs. Yu in appearance, looking sweet and endearing, plus she behaved gracefully in front of Yu Qingyi.

And with their family gathered, cozying up and checking in on each other, it felt very warm and harmonious.

In the study, Yang Zhenshan talked to Yang Chengye about matters concerning Da Rong.

Actually, there was no hurry, just two days until the New Year, discussing it after would still be timely.

But since Yang Chengye was back, it was okay to mention it first, so he could prepare mentally.

”I, grandfather, don’t want to be Emperor. I’d prefer to bring Qinyuan over after a few more years to inherit the title!”

Hearing that Yang Zhenshan had intentions for him to be Emperor, Yang Chengye was suddenly anxious.

He had always wanted to go home, but it wasn’t possible before.

Chongshan Town was considered part of the Yang family’s assets, and as the eldest grandson of the eldest branch, he naturally had to guard this family business.

If his father were more reliable, he could take it easy, but who let his father be Yang Mingcheng’s son.

Back then, Yang Mingcheng tossed aside the title and ran, it had left him quite frustrated.

If he could, he’d rather stay beside Yang Zhenshan.

Yang Zhenshan was quite gratified, smiling, not having his heart swayed by the Emperor’s power, he felt very relieved.

Yang Mingzhao didn’t value imperial power, and neither did Yang Chengye, nor were other Yang family members too focused on the throne and its power, which was exactly what Yang Zhenshan liked to see.

Honestly, he was worried before that the Yang family would fight internally over the throne.

It was the throne of Da Rong, not some small kingdom.

Everyone not focusing on the Dajing throne didn’t surprise Yang Zhenshan, but the fact that no one valued a dynasty’s throne did make him quite happy.

Whether power is good or bad depends on the individual.

Most people in the world cannot resist the temptation of power and wealth; countless are willing to give up everything, even risking their lives for it.

Yet, the Yang family didn’t care about power and wealth. Was it because all Yang family members were indifferent to fame and fortune and had no desires?

No!

It’s because the Yang family had higher pursuits.

Martial Arts was the pursuit of the Yang family!
