Clan Rise: Starting as a Grandfather

Chapter 937: Chapter 667: Zhou Lan Comes Calling

Chongshan Pass, in the study of the General Mansion.

Yang Chengye and Niu Zhuang looked at the just-received emergency military situation.

After Niu Zhuang finished reading, his expression was unusually serious, ”King Da Liang actually proclaimed himself emperor! Isn’t he afraid of becoming the target of all?”

Yang Chengye smiled faintly, ”At this point in time, what is there for him to fear?”

Niu Zhuang raised his head to look at Yang Chengye and asked solemnly, ”Then what should we do? Should we deploy troops?”

Yang Chengye looked at him with deep meaning, ”No rush!”

Niu Zhuang took a deep breath, unable to contain the doubts in his heart, ”What exactly are you planning?”

Although Yang Chengye hadn’t revealed his plan to him, nominally he was still the General of Chongshan Town, knowing many things about Chongshan Town.

Other things he might not be clear about, but two things he was very clear on.

Firstly, Yang Chengye was deliberately reducing the supply of food and fodder to Zhou Lan, causing Zhou Lan to be only able to defensively in the northern Longyuan, not daring to launch offensives!

Secondly, Yang Chengye was secretly training troops, the training site was not Chongshan Pass, nor the Camp, but in Fuzhou City.

All along, Fuzhou City has been tightly controlled by the Yang family, since Yang Mingzhi started serving as the Assistant General of the Fuzhou Guard, Fuzhou has been under the Yang family’s control.

This control is different from the Yang family’s control over Chongshan Pass, where people are many and eyes are mixed, and both the governor and general are not people of the Yang family or clan, so the Yang family controls Chongshan Pass from the bottom up.

But the control of Fuzhou is from the top down, and from the bottom up.

Yang Chengye chuckled, ”Soon you’ll know!”

Niu Zhuang saw he wouldn’t speak, his expression rather helpless, ”General Zhou, won’t you explain to him?”

Yang Chengye shook his head, ”Not the time yet, let’s wait!”

He naturally knew Zhou Lan, this female general was not easy-going, to be honest, he was somewhat afraid of Zhou Lan.

One reason being Zhou Lan is a true commander, having led troops her entire life, fought wars half her life.

The second reason is Zhou Lan’s friendship with Yang Zhenshan, Yang Chengye sees her, he must respectfully address her as Grandma Zhou!

So until now he didn’t know how to be frank with Zhou Lan.

However, Yang Chengye didn’t expect that Zhou Lan had already arrived at Chongshan Town.

Upon learning that King Da Liang proclaimed himself emperor, Zhou Lan hurriedly came to Chongshan Town, just the third day after Yang Chengye received the emergency military situation, Zhou Lan arrived at Chongshan Pass.

She brought along only a dozen trusted aides, coming in haste.

”Go, inform them, I, Zhou Lan, wish to see Marquis Jing’an Yang Chengye!” Zhou Lan said with a grim face standing before the General Mansion.

The guarding soldiers exchanged glances, immediately respectfully said, ”General Zhou, please enter and rest a bit, I will report now!”

Several soldiers, one ran to report, the others led Zhou Lan into the General Mansion.

Who is Zhou Lan?

She served as General in Chongshan Town for seven to eight years.

Though it was twenty years ago, the townsfolk and soldiers of Chongshan Town have not forgotten this General.

In the study, Yang Chengye and Niu Zhuang were facing each other, handling affairs, when suddenly hearing Zhou Lan’s arrival, their expressions changed to quite remarkable.

Niu Zhuang looked at Yang Chengye, jokingly said, ”This time it’s good, General Zhou came knocking!”

Yang Chengye was depressed!

He really didn’t expect Zhou Lan to come at this time.

Know that Da Liang’s army is in Longyuan eyeing Zhou Lan’s occupied territory dangerously, possibly launching an attack on Zhou Lan anytime!

Though Zhou Lan had her share of elite troops, her army strength was slightly insufficient.

Beiyuan Town still needs to guard against the northern Hu Clan, unable to mobilize more troops, on Longyuan’s side, Zhou Lan occupied six provinces’ land, besides the north, the other three sides were surrounded by Da Liang.

Once Da Liang sends troops northward, Zhou Lan’s land in Longyuan would surely be the first hit.

This time Zhou Lan should be guarding Longyuan, yet she ran to Chongshan Town suddenly.

Yang Chengye felt Zhou Lan came to demand accountability.

His guess wasn’t wrong; as soon as the two of them accompanied her to greet, Zhou Lan immediately questioned with a bad expression, ”What are you two up to? Not deploying troops or providing food, are you trying to watch the Capital City fall?”

To be honest, Zhou Lan was quite angry now, as she fundamentally didn’t know the Yang family intended to rebel.

Of course, her anger wasn’t only directed at Yang Chengye and Niu Zhuang, but also at the Da Rong Court.

Da Rong Court was so useless, making her feel very powerless, it was exactly this powerlessness that made her extremely dissatisfied with the court’s ministers.

In actuality, Zhu Lan currently didn’t have many thoughts, she remained faithful to the court, she still wanted to pacify the rebellion in the three provinces of Longyuan.

But the problem was her troops were insufficient, food supplies were insufficient, willing but powereless.

”General Zhou, let’s talk inside!” Yang Chengye awkwardly said.

Zhou Lan took a deep breath, glaring at him unhappily, but finally walked into the study.

Just entering the study, she couldn’t help but ask again, ”What are you scheming, boy?”

Yang Chengye didn’t answer immediately but poured tea for Zhou Lan, inviting her to sit down.

After Zhou Lan sat down, he solemnly said, ”Grandma Zhou, Da Rong cannot be saved anymore!”

”What do you mean?” Zhou Lan frowned.

Yang Chengye’s eyes fixed on Zhou Lan, with a gentle voice he said, ”To be honest with you, I plan to compete for the title of ruler of this land!”

Zhou Lan’s pupils suddenly contracted sharply, her eyes intensely staring at Yang Chengye.
