Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1836: True Dream Path & True Devil Calamity

While staring at the state of his Perfection Saint Foundation, Wang Wei could not help but grit his teeth. Veins popped on his forehead, and his palm bled because he clenched so hard that his nail pierced his skin. Every atom in his body screamed to lash out, to rage, to unleash his wrath on the world — to burn everything on the ground.

However, he did not give in to his baser instinct. Instead, he suppressed his emotions, entering an absolute state of rationality. The process wasn’t easy, but he forced himself to do it. Observing the writing in his [Existence], he sighed in relief.

”Although it’s damaged, it’s not destroyed,” Wang Wei thought. ”With the right method, I can recuperate. And this might not be such a bad thing.”

Sometimes, destruction is necessary for rebirth and higher evolution. Wang Wei established the Perfect Foundation in the Empyrean Realm at a time when he had no idea what Saint Foundations were. Once he can repair the damage, he’ll have a better understanding of the foundation, which will elevate his control over all three foundations.

Opening his eyes, he glanced at the Source Qi Cardinal. His killing intent was so intense that it overwrote the immense pain. ”Very well. I may need a while before I can take my revenge against Grand Dao, but I can probably deal with these Cardinal bastards after I sanctify.

”The Otherworldly Foundation requires stealing 6 authorities from Heaven and Earth, and what better material is there for the process than the Cardinals? They are already granted [Authority] by Grand Dao, which makes them the perfect material.”

The Source Qi Cardinal, in a state of heightened power, suddenly sensed something foreboding. She immediately searched for the source and turned toward Wang Wei. A chill ran down her spine when she saw Wang Wei’s cold and cruel eyes. For a moment, she thought she was looking at a ferocious snake lying in ambush, preparing to pounce on its prey at any moment. Without hesitation, Source Qi Cardinal intensified Wang Wei’s treatment. However, the latter just calmly closed his eyes to defend.

”Source Qi is currently using Grand Dao’s power, but shouldn’t such a task go to the Heaven Cardinal?” Wang Wei thought. ”Heaven is essentially a smaller server of Grand Dao. So, logically speaking, if Grand Dao wanted a vessel or a representative to do his bidding, Heaven Cardinal would be the best choice. So, why did she choose Source Qi? Is something going on? Or am I thinking too much into this? Well, forget it for now. Let’s focus on protecting ourselves.”

Time passed, and everybody thought this humiliation ritual would end without anything major happening. However, what happened next shocked everybody. The purification dimension began to tremble, and the white light of purification ceased its effect. At first, everybody thought it was over until they saw Source Qi Cardinal floating in the air, releasing her aura.

”Disturbance Detected. I repeat, Disturbance Detected,” Source Qi Cardinal stated in her cold, mechanical voice. ”Citizen LB-S287466TDL9887, true name —True Dream Lord — has become the vessel of a Taboo. Asking for a directive.”

Everybody looked at the True Dream Lord, with the people closest to him even moving away. Is this information true, or did Grand Dao create such a lie to eliminate one of them and send a message? Although the latter is less likely, these Saints — who have survived tremendously under Grand Dao’s suppression — would not put it past her.

”Lu Bing, is that true?” the Karma Root Ancestor asked.

”I guess I couldn’t hide it,” True Dream Lord sighed.

”Are you mad?” the Slaughter Ancestor asked, truly baffled why someone would accept being the vessel of another being — even if they are more powerful. What happened to all the ambition of one day standing at the pinnacle of the Dao? Why give up everything for someone else? He couldn’t understand, which is why he called it madness.

”Madness?” True Dream Lord uttered before shaking his head. ”No, I’m not mad. On the contrary, I’ve never been of a clearer mind than before. All my life, I have pursued the highest state of Dream Dao: one with thought, all reality turns to dream, and with another, dreams revert to reality.”

A look of desire, longing, and hope appeared on his face as he smiled.

”I’ve spent so many years cultivating, fighting, plotting, and planning, all for the slight opportunity at achieving this goal. But with every day that passes, that goal — that dream slips through my fingers. Although I haven’t admitted it, a part of me knew I had lost.

”That is, until today. After experiencing the presence of the Great Old One, I finally saw hope. With his guidance, with his presence, everything I have been searching for can be realized.”

True Dream Lord looked at the expedition’s Tribunal Lords. ”How about you join me? Didn’t you guys always dream of becoming Grand Dao Saints? With the lord’s power, he only needs to dream it into existence, and everything you wish for will come true.”

”You have indeed gone mad,” Slaughter Ancestor sneered. Become someone else’s servant? If he had the ability, he would have slaughtered that taboo and used the feedback to condense his Dao Quintessence. His ambition is to one day kill all types of races and unique beings in the universe, and being a slave would cut off his path since he wouldn’t be able to slaughter his master.

The other Tribunal Lords calmly watched True Dream Lord, treating his words as nothing but the rambling of a madman. They have cultivated for so long; how can they just give that up? And even if they were to sell their soul, there is a better option in the form of the Grand Dao. Why would they choose an unknown creature that is beyond their comprehension?

The True Dream Lord shook his head, ”You simple-minded creature whose eyes are still blind to the truth of this world — you don’t understand how much of a blessing it is to serve my lord. But, don’t worry, you will soon understand.”

Boom!

True Dream Lord released a terrifying aura as he prepared to release a thunderbolt attack. However, Source Qi Cardinal — who had received orders to eliminate the threat — immediately reacted. With a flicker of her wrist, a mighty power descended on the Ruler of Dream and annihilated him. Or, it should have.

Instead, the True Dream Lord’s body turned into butterflies, each flying into a different direction at an alarming speed. Source Qi Cardinal calmly waved his hand, and time rewound, and all the butterflies returned to their original positions. Then, with a swipe of her fingers, a dark slash full of the power of destruction rushed over and annihilated them.

A heavy atmosphere descended into the room: a Tribunal Saint had died, just like that—no scream, no resistance, and in only a matter of seconds. Although Tribunal Saints were the highest level of power of the Chaos Universe, they were still part of the echelons. Yet, one of them dies so easily and effortlessly. Everybody could help but feel a sense of shared fate.

”Second round of purification will commence,” Source Qi Cardinal ruthlessly stated. Most of the memories about the taboo were erased, along with the traces. However, the True Dream Lord uttered the words [Great Old Ones], and he might have left even more contamination — at the very least, he had tried to mentally corrupt these individuals. Grand Dao’s order was to leave no stone unturned, so Source Qi Cardinal enacted a second round of purification despite knowing there might be some backlash later on.

”All contamination has been eliminated,” Source Qi Cardinal stated after a few hours of working. ”The mission can continue.” Her aura diminished, and her cold, calculating eyes regained their former emotion. Source Qi Cardinal frowned. Now she was back in control, she sensed countless killing intent, many were hidden, but a few were so blatant that she felt disrespected — especially since a few Primordial Chaos Saints were the ones who were so bold.

Source Qi Cardinal wanted to say something, but given how she had already offended so many people, her words and actions might result in a backlash. Instead, she remained calm and entered the dimension’s exit. No one followed for a while. No one knows whether they would return to Timeline NP89076H, or if there’s something else going on, so they took this opportunity to check the situation. At the same time, also recuperate as much as possible. And only after detecting that there was nothing wrong with the exit did people start to leave.

Boundless Realm:

Grand Dao sensed everything that had occurred in the Purification Dimension. While the death of a Tribunal Lord was a loss to the world, nothing can compare to the overall safety of the Chaos Universe. The system that governs all reality must be protected.
