Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1832: Cleaning Up Traces

The Trinity Venerable immediately scanned the void, and after not seeing anything, he instantly annihilated the surrounding ten million miles. His actions were not just out of anger, but also a way to detect his opponent. With the void destroyed, the attacker’s chances of revealing fluctuations were much higher. Sadly, Maitreye and Wang Wei would not make such a mistake.

”Damn it,” Trinity Venerable cussed. If not for being weakened by that taboo, how could such a weak creature come close to him? How could he have suffered the same humiliation as Star Manifestation? Gritting his teeth, a third eye appeared on his forehead as he immediately began to scan his surroundings while also calculating the cause and effect attached to the attacker.

”Ant, I will find you and grind your soul into dust,” Trinity Venerable roared, losing all the enlightened demeanor he usually displayed.

”Trinity, time is running out. Are you coming for your share or not?” Slaughter Ancestor’s voice echoed from the treasury. ”Tell us now if you’re giving up your share or not so we can come up with a better agreement.”

”Of course I’m not giving up,” Trinity Venerable replied with gritted teeth before reluctantly teleporting away; this was not over. Whoever dared to plot against him would pay with their life. For Trinity Venerable, he’s the one who plots against others — not the other way around.

Holy Son Mansion:

Maitreya’s body returned, and as soon as she stepped inside, she separated the Heart Devil from her body. The Heart Devil began to fade away while her expression became paler than white snow. She immediately swallowed a pill, then handed Wang Wei a sealed bottle.

”Hmm? Your injury is not as severe as I thought,” Wang Wei commented.

”I transferred most of it.”

”No wonder it looks like it’s about to dissipate,” Wang Wei nodded. ”Your technique would be perfect for my Fate Shadow Guard. You should teach me. Wait a minute, I should have known all your techniques. How come I don’t know this one?”

”It seems recent success has made you underestimate the power of a Saint,” Maitreya said, her voice laced with warning and reproach. ”Whatever methods you used only gave you 80% of my powers and about the same amount of my techniques.”

”Is that so? It seems the difference between each pillar is astounding,” Wang Wei commented. ”More importantly, MIngyunjun’s weakness was greater than I anticipated.”

”Of course. After all, he took a direct hit from a Grand Dao Saint — one that is a taboo as well. The fact he survived at all is a miracle in itself, even with the assistance of a third-step foreign power.”

Wang Wei nodded. ”How about it? Can you teach me?”

”I’m sorry, but no. I could teach anybody but you.”

”Hmm? Why?” Wang Wei raised an eyebrow; it was one thing not to teach him, but to target him directly.

”Have you wondered why I didn’t use this technique during my fight with Supreme Unity?”

Wang Wei was silent. Of course, he had this thought the moment he saw how powerful and brilliant this ability was. However, he chose not to bring back such a sensitive topic.

Maitreya sighed. ”After I sanctified, the first thing the True Self Heart Devil did was try to swallow and replace me.”

”You mean?”

”It’s essentially an alternate avatar. It has the same memories, intelligence, mode of thinking, and even knows most of my abilities. It is the embodiment of my evil nature, meaning it is ruthless and has no bottom line. And with the same cultivation, the only reason I won back then was because I had Supreme Unity’s help, which I acquired after making another deal with him.

”Bacn then, I successfully sealed it and only recently refined it again after my strength had increased and after my state of mind had sublimated. I cannot imagine how terrifying your [True Self Heart Devil], and honestly, without a Pure Buddhist Heart or something similar, I don’t think you can suppress it — even with your Dao Heart.”

Wang Wei frowned. As prideful as he was, he understood the danger of having an evil version of himself always scheming its escape from him. Even if he believed he could suppress it, why would he put himself in such a dangerous situation?

”Have you tried to reduce its ability to revolt?”

”I did, but the result was disappointing,” Maitreya shook her head. ”The key to this technique is the spirituality contained in the Heart Devil. If I place more restraint on it, it will lose this spirituality, its nature will be corrupted, and in turn, drastically decrease most of its brilliance.”

”In that case, let’s forget it,” Wang Wei said. ”However, when we return home, I’ll send the Shadow Ruler Emperor to learn this technique. It may inspire him for his Saint Path.” In Wang Wei’s opinion, Shadow Ruler has one of the highest comprehension levels among all the sect’s Emperors, including Qiyuan and Sword Emperor.

His technique [Monarch’s Shadow] is an underrated masterpiece that has double the strength of the Dao Opening Sect. Most people haven’t noticed it, but this technique allows every Great Emperor of the sect to have two shadows with the same strength as them. How ridiculous is that? Wang Wei hopes the latter can sanctify and upgrade the [Monarch’s Shadow] to the Saint Tier.

”No problem,” Maitreya nodded. Glancing at the almost dissipated Heart Devil, she said, ”You should temporarily hide it using the mansion’s power.”

”Wouldn’t it be better to kill it?” Wang Wei asked. He understood Maitreya’s plan: use the power of Heaven Deception to hide the causality connecting to the True Self Heart Devil.

”As I said, you are underestimating a Saint,” Maitreya disagreed. ”If we kill it now, the chances of Trinity Venerable calculating the cause and effect on its attacker will increase. So, for now, it’s best to keep it hidden.”

”For how long?” Wang Wei asked.

”Until we can leave this place and find another timeline to eliminate it.”

”Wait, isn’t this timeline about to be erased by a powerful force?” Wang Wei suddenly asked.

”You mean?”

”Find a way to hide it until the Destruction General wipes out everything in sight.”

”That’s not a bad idea,” Maitreya nodded. ”Before that, we also need to make some preparations.” Putting two fingers in her temple, she removed two memory orbs and crushed them.

”You don’t really need to completely erase your memories.”

”After I did the Star Manifestation, I will be the first suspect, so I need to eliminate all traces,” Maitreya said. ”Let me borrow the Power Core.” Without hesitating, he handed it to her. Soon afterward, the power of time fluctuated heavily from the Mother Buddha’s body. Wang Wei — who still had a few seconds of Saints’ power left — could detect what she was doing. Maitreya was altering her past to prevent Trinity Venerable from seeing how she once cultivated/created the [True Self Heart Devil] technique.

”Done,” Maitreya said. ”With such precautions, we should be able to evade his suspicions until the expedition ends.”

Wang Wei frowned. Dealing with a Saint was indeed not a simple thing; he should have been more prepared for the aftermath of his plan. Sadly, he was too high on his previous success of causing so much chaos. Luckily, if there was one thing he excelled at, it was improvising on the spot.

”Hold on,” Wang Wei said before summoning a black cube, which was the container for Mingyunjun’s seal. His right hand reached inside and retrieved a silver-white eye. Under the perfect control of his body, a small cut appeared on his forehead, and he injected the [Fate Eye].

Using the last bit of strength he had, Wang Wei checked Maitreya’s body and his own. ”As expected,” he murmured. Their bodies were full of hidden causality that could reveal the truth. Although Maitreya’s traces were fewer, under the Fate Eye, he still saw a few hidden traces. Wang Wei shared his vision with Maitreya, and the two cleaned all the traces.

Wang Wei’s aura suddenly deflated, and his strength dropped to the [Immortal Stage]. ”What an uncomfortable feeling,” he grunted. He could barely accept losing his strength, but what he found truly unbearable was how limited his visions became. As a Saint, he saw the world for what it truly was. But in this state, there were too many limitations.

Wang Wei wanted to describe the feeling as someone with glasses and suddenly losing them, but even that wasn’t enough to capture the difference. A better description would be someone stuck in a simulation but able to see the underlying programming code. Then, one day, they lose their ability and become another regular person in that simulation.

”You’re lucky you have a Saint Dao Heart,” Maitreya warned. Without this level of Dao Heart, it would be useless even if Wang Wei had successfully copied her strength. More importantly, his Dao Heart would have shattered after he lost his strength.

”Alright, we should leave, lest we garner suspicions,” Wang Wei said. He quickly put all the evidence of his past crimes at the center of the mansion, where the core of the formation was located. And since the core was made from second-step materials, Wang Wei felt more assured of their safety.

”You should refine this mansion into a Saint Artifact,” Maitreya suggested.

”That’s the plan,” Wang Wei nodded. The mansion’s ability to hide secrets would be perfect for him.

”Hmm?” Wang Wei muttered as soon as he exited.

”What is it?”

”I sense something,” Wang Wei frowned.
