Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1598: The Will To Fight

’Although he’s ambitious, Dugu Baitian is also very cautious. How could he absorb such power without years of studying and testing? Something must have gone awry,’ Yan Hai analyzed as she evaded a red energy beam.

’Now that I understand his power, the real issue is what to do?’ Her situation was far from ideal. The stamina drained from all those previous skills was already an issue, but now, she also had the burden of this evasion technique, which might even be worse than the others.

’Let’s target the source,’ Yan Hai thought. Six circles of different colors surrounded her bamboo before turning into a dark aura that coated the weapon.

[Absolute Cut: Emotion Severing]

Yan Hai had read Wang Tian’s sutra. Although it was the one before he proved the Dao, she still appreciated its wonder. In all her life, the number of swordsmen walking the [cut] aspect of Sword Dao she has met or defeated is in the hundreds. However, not a single one was as beautiful or full of raw potential as Wang Tian’s path. Inspired by his path, Yan Hai updated a few of her techniques and even renamed them after his Absolute Cut Dao.

As the beast was about to turn Yan Hai into a victim, it heard the humming sound of a sword inside its Sea of Consciousness, forcing it to pause. ’Now,’ Yan Hai thought as she released another devastating skill. A white light composed of millions of golden sword energy descended from the sky to incinerate this abomination.

”Is it over?” Yan Hai said while wheezing a little. Her senses told her this was the end, but her intuition was warning her otherwise. A dozen pills teleported directly into her stomach, trying to alleviate the pressure. However, this was not enough.

”Fight,” Yan Hair uttered, and the character came alive. It then turned into motes of light that fused with her body. Stamina Recovery becomes less effective after using 3-tier Grand Dao Skills, and they become useless at 4-tier. But a few rare ones can recuperate a small portion at even the 6-tier. As luck would have it, Wang Chong and Li Ming worked together to combine their expertise — martial arts/fighting skills and body refining — to create such an ultimate skill.

In crucial moments such as this one, experience is more valuable than talent or Battle IQ. As soon as she finished her preparation, a roar shook the Void Battlefield. Dugu Baitian revived particle after particle, and when his body reformed, his aura appeared even more chaotic and mighty.

’His strength increased with his rage? Damn it,’ Yan Hai analyzed. The beast roared while releasing his aura without restraint. Mortals process fears in many ways, one of which is the rapid beating of the heart. Yan Hai’s life is long by any standard, and she could not remember the last time the drumming of her heart was so loud. It was probably during the Ultimate Taboo, but she doesn’t remember much from that event.

’His strength is probably what that kid called Pseudo Saints,’ she thought. There was no data to go on to justify Wang Wei’s theory of false or pseudo-Transcendents or Saints. But if Yan Hai had to guess, Dugu Baitian’s current level is probably where these individuals would be categorized.

’If I could last long enough, my attack could probably reach such a height.’ Her eyes twinkled with the thought of such a possibility. Unfortunately, she had no confidence. While people perceived Yan Hai as arrogant and prideful, that was far from the truth. Talented people who exhibit these traits usually die young. Yan Hai was confident, which meant she knew how to measure any situation.

’I won’t survive long enough for that to happen — unless I have help,’ she thought. As soon as that thought occurred to her, she sent a distress signal to her brothers through their karmic link. ’Now, I need to buy myself some time.’ The issue was how to achieve this.

The evasion ultimate skill was draining, and it had its limits. With the vast difference in their speed, Yan Hai knew she would be speed-blitzed after less than three evasions — maybe less. ’In that case, the best approach would be to seal it, but how? Where? And with that power?’ Her neurons and soul went into overdrive as she tried to deduce and strategize a successful plan.

’All my powers and attacks are not working, but what if I used the power recognized as the most dangerous in the Chaos Universe?’ The light of wisdom flashed in Yan Hai’s eyes.

[Bloodline Link]

With a thought, she connected to all three clans’ Human Fiendgod Bloodline, focusing directly on the Wang Clan and borrowing their [Power of Nothingness]. While Dugu Baitian’s new form was powerful, he also lost all his cunningness, skills, and ingenuity. It’s easy to detect by how simple all his attacks were; he only used direct flesh attacks or energy blasts — no refined spells, techniques, or skills.

So, when the latter lunged toward Yan Hai with claws, trying to rip off her throat, her body exploded and encased him inside a white sphere. The real Yan Hai appeared above the sphere and started drawing runes to complete the sealing process.

”This should do —”

The white sphere suddenly exploded as a face shot out from inside. No, it wasn’t a complete face, but half of it. The face tried to regenerate the other half, and maybe even the entire head. However, an invisible power would wipe it out. The situation soon turned into a strange battle between the two sides, as Dugu Baitian’s face kept regenerating and then disappearing.

Yan Hai used this opportunity to summon three talismans from her dimension that stored 6-tier Grand Construct Skills. Then, something horrifying happened. The half-face casually released a red magic shield that easily blocked the three talismans. The abomination did not even pause its confrontation with nothingness.

Then, Yan Hai watched as the creature successfully regenerated its face. Followed by a head, torso, and limbs. The creature then looked at her without uttering a word. The redness in its eyes intensified along with his aura. It was angrier.

’Shit,’ Yan Hai thought before her body exploded into a mixture of blood mist and spiritual rain. As she regenerated, the beast suddenly appeared behind her and ripped her spine from her body before atomizing her. ’This bastard wants to torture me.’

Yan Hai did not regenerate, remaining in a state of consciousness without a body and soul, but the beast could not have that. He clenched his fist, forcing her to regenerate. He then ripped her heart out with a smirk, but Yan Hai exploded her body.

And when she regenerated for the fourth time, she condensed the ultimate defense by activating five talismans with defensive 6-tier Grand Construct Skills. These talismans took time to create, and the material is rare, so she has only recently made five.

The thing lasted three punches before crumbling, which was more than enough time for her. ’Is the difference between Saints and Paragons so vast?’ This bastard, Dugu Baitian, was only a pseudo Saint, meaning the strength of someone who failed their transcendent ascension; his strength is probably not even close to that of a one-pillar Saint. Yet, he was maltreating an unparalleled talent like Yan Hai as if she were a child.

’Maybe it’s in my best interest to just kill myself and return to Limbo,’ Yan Hai thought. She did not know the consequences of dying at this beast’s hands. Based on her understanding of the [Existence Heiarchy], a Primordial Saint should be capable of killing any Paragons — even Primals — without all the trouble of finding their Time Mark. They just need to kill them, and the Paragon will be wiped out from the stream of time. While Dugu Baitian was not a Saint, she did not want to take the risk.

’No, this is a great opportunity to push myself — to elevate my Dao to a higher level,’ Yan Hai thought. In the brief moment before her shield crumbled at the third punch, she acted.

First, she swallowed an Existence Burning Pill. By burning her [Existence] as fuel, she can acquire an unparalleled boost. Normally, she would not use such a move, but with the exchange list, there were many ways to quickly recover from such a grievous injury.

[Time Retrieval Talisman]

The previous five defensive talismans were retrieved from the downstream of the river of time, existing in the present for a short period. Yan Hai then forcefully fuses these talismans into her skin, elevating her defense to the next level. ’No, it’s not enough.’ She summoned five more talismans from a slightly further time in the past.

Her body immediately cracked, a sign that she could not handle ten of these talismans coursing through her veins. Luckily, her flesh was no longer weak and could bear it. Finally, the Proving Dao Artifact turned into a sword hilt. Yan Hai sneered as she used the [Power of Nothingness] as the blade for the hilt.

”Today, my sword Dao will take another step beyond the pinnacle.”
