Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1580: The Gears Are Turning

”I know why you’re here,” Lie Peiqi said as he poured the tea. ”While I appreciate you trying, you’re actually wasting your time.”

”Hong’er doesn’t want to stop you from returning home — she just wants to help you in any way she can,” Wang Wei said as he sipped his tea.

”I know full well that if I ask, she will go to the end of the world to help me, but that’s exactly why I don’t want her involved,” Lie Peiqi added. ”In all my life, I’ve never met someone with such raw talent — well, maybe except for you. Hong’er ’s path will be unlike anything the world has seen, and the last thing I want is for my own cause and effect to affect her.”

”Isn’t it too late for that?” Wang Wei asked. ”If something happens to you, she’ll never forgive herself, and your cause and effect will still affect her.”

”Nothing will happen to me,” Lie Peiqi said calmly. ”I have delayed so long to return home not only because I’m reluctant to leave her, but also to better prepare for what I am to face upon my return.

”Once that is dealt with, I can’t say for sure whether I will continue my stay in this world, but I will definitely visit her.”

”But wouldn’t you want some guarantee? Maybe a higher chance of success? I’m sure you know how capable she is.”

”I am aware,” Lie Peiqi nodded. ”But what I must deal with is deeply personal. And as much as I love her, she is a foreigner, so it’s best she is not involved in any shape or form.”

”It seems you’ve decided,” Wang Wei sighed. He could see the fervent determination in Lie Peiqi’s eyes, almost like he was a man of faith in a holy mission that he would do anything to succeed.

”I have.”

”Well, I tried,” Wang Wei sighed deeply.

”And that’s all that matters,” Lie Peiqi nodded as he put his tea on the table. ”Now, it’s time for me to do my last fatherly duty — so to speak.” He calmly looked Wang Wei in the eyes.

”I can tell that you love her — and more importantly, you respect her. You never had any possessiveness toward her as if she were a trophy that made you look better. You never asked her to dim her light so you can shine. On the contrary, you challenge her to be even than she already is.”

”She’s my better half, so of course, I want her to shine as brightly as possible,” Wang Wei smiled.

Lie Peiqi nodded. ”I had my worries because of how strange your situation used to be, but now, I can feel reassured. But I must warn you: I will kill you if you hurt her.”

Wang Wei’s lips twitched. Why did the father of his girlfriends like to threaten people? Back on Earth, the father of his girlfriend during University did a similar thing. The strange thing is that the man did show up at his dorm with a knife after they broke up, and Wang Wei had to talk him down.

”I know you have a lot of potential, and you are extremely intelligent and resourceful. But I promise you. Even if one day you become a Grand Dao Saint, I will find a way to kill you if you dare break her heart.”

”I will keep those words in mind,” Wang Wei nodded. He would never underestimate a man driven by passion and a thirst for vengeance.

”Good,” Lie Peiqi nodded. He then slowly stood. ”Now that I’m reassured with her in your care, I can leave.”𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

”What? Now?”

”Yes. I feel my will waver with each passing second. It’s time to depart.”

”Can’t you wait for her to say goodbye?” Wang Wei hurriedly said.

”I can’t bear it,” Lie Peiqi shook his head. ”Tell her I’m sorry, and when I return, I’ll make it to her.” Lie Peiqi did not waste a single minute before entering the River of Time, starting his journey home to fulfil his destiny.

Wang Wei sighed.

Heavenly Court, Disaster Relief Division:

Wu Hong was in the middle of writing runes in the air when she sensed something. She stopped and looked in the distance. ’Jerk — how can you leave without saying goodbye?’ Her mood was instantly sour.

’Are you alright?’ Wang Wei asked.

’I had a feeling he would do something like this,’ Wu Hong sighed. ’Did he say something to you?’

’He did reveal some things,’ Wang Wei nodded before recounting their conversation.

’I hope he’s ready for my wrath when he returns,’ she said with gritted teeth.

’I’ll help you if you want to truly bully him,’ Wang Wei added, which made Wu Hong roll her eyes.

’How are things going?’ Wang Wei asked.

’Well...’

Time flew like a river moving downstream. After the conversation with his wife, Wang Wei entered seclusion to continue his training with the Samsara Genesis Stone. He was very close to mastering his Ultimate Dao Will Technique, so he placed all his focus on this task.

About three million years after his retreat, he received news that Dong Lifen had been rescued, but she was severely injured. The sect was currently treating her.

After five Yuan Epoch in retreat, Wang Wei received news from Red Mask that his plan had failed. Old Man Black Chess insisted on allying with both the Divine Faith Heaven and the Skill Path Association, even after discovering the gods were planning to swallow his exchange hall.

Wang Wei used the Fate Shadow Guards and his chessboard to manufacture a confrontation between the two sides, resulting in the death of one God and three loose cultivators — all Paragons. The situation intensified between the two factions, but Old Man Black Chess insisted on soothing things out and continuing the alliance. Shen Tian also shared his view.

On the tenth Yuan Epoch mark, Wu Hong finished her work in the court. Wang Wei sent a clone to participate in the activation of the Grand Unified Will Array and to bless it with his True Will. Wu Hong then returned home, showered in purple merit for her work.

The couple immediately started to scheme. On the thousandth Yuan Epoch of his retreat, Wu Hong and Wang Wei finished their flawed Primal Method and chose a candidate. On the fifteen-hundredth Yuan Epoch of the retreat, the Eternal Ascension World celebrated the birth of a new Primal. However, the vision for this Primal was so strange; it was so weak.

Numerous people searched for information, and it was soon revealed the crooked method that Primal Water Immortal used to attain his status. The other primal despised his existence, but it did not change the fact that the Limitless Exchange Hall did receive the luck benefit for a new primal. More importantly, his existence changed the status quo of the hall.

Old Man Black Chess used to be the sole voice of power, and it was not only because of his strength, but also due to his wisdom and status as an elder. The presence of Water Immortal changed that. Wang Wei and Wu Hong chose Water Immortal because he was one of the few people with access to the hall’s Primal Array, and because he strongly objected to the alliance with the Divine Faith Heaven.

Old Man Black Chess tried to reason with him, but it was pointless. Wang Wei has deeply implanted the idea of canceling the alliance deep in Water Immortal’s mind even before he became a flawed Primal. Old Man Black Chess still had the majority of power and thought he could get his way, even if it was forcefully. But Water Immortal showed that he was prepared to start a civil war if needed, forcing Old Man Black Chess to relent.

Ultimately, the Limitless Exchange Hall only allied itself with the Skill Path Association.

Ten thousand Yuan Epoch after his retreat, Wang Wei finally mastered his Ultimate Dao Will Technique, meeting the second requirement to become a Primal. Wu Hong — who was on the verge of succeeding with her Thirteen Transcendent Foundation — then sent a clone to start training him for his Ultimate ChronoSpirit Skill.

Her clone had made great strides in the study of the Nurture Core after the success of the Water Immortal. And Wang Wei was about to help gather even more data to perfect her formation.

During this time, Wang Wei also started to make moves in other Chaos Worlds. He used Wu Hong’s research on the Nurture Core on one of his other pawns: Grandma Ju. He needs her to climb the power ladder of the All-Seeing Temple, so Wang Wei used this opportunity to increase her cultivation to the peak of the Paragon Realm as fast as possible. Of course, such rapid improvement came with many hidden dangers.

15,000 Yuan Epoch after Wang Wei entered seclusion:

Ying Zheng sat on a throne in the Qin Dynasty, with a butterfly-shaped pendant floating before him. Lady Butterfly stood beside her, her eyes lifeless as if she were a doll without any consciousness.

He suddenly opened his eyes. ’Maitreya is finally in a deep state of concentration.’
