Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1573: Sign on the Dotted Lines

[Unedited Chapter]

Cao Sicong did the math in his head. He had a few things he planned to buy, the first of which was the booklet called [Introducing The Transcendent Path]. According to the description in the exchange list, this book will introduce everything someone needs to know about becoming a Transcendent Saint. However, this book is worth a hefty amount of purple cloud merit.

Afterward, Cao Sicong has to buy the preaching of a few Primordial Saints in order to find his own path. He does not know how many of these sermons he’ll have to hear before he finds his path, but he knows it’ll cost him a great deal.

Once he has a direction, Cao Sicong will have to buy a flawed method before modifying it, and that’s assuming he can change it. If not, he’ll have to buy one of those enlightened boosts from Heavenly Dao to help, and those cost almost an arm and a leg.

Additionally, he will need specific materials for cultivation. Just like how Ying Zheng’s Transcendent Path requires the Human Emperor Position and others, Cao Sicong’s path will definitely require other materials or requirements, which he will have to buy — and that’s assuming it’s in the exchange list.

After all, Heavenly Dao will not offer things like the Human Emperor Title on the list. Well, it doesn’t need to. If someone has acquired enough merit and contributed to saving the world, the title will belong to them.

’If I accept this deal, I will save so much merit,’ Cao Sicong thought. The downside is he’ll be Ying Zheng’s enemy — which he did not mind — and more importantly, he’ll lose all the autonomy he had spent so much time and effort to acquire.

’Why am I hesitating? I once escaped the grasp of these people. Since I can do it once, I can do it again. No, this time, I will not only escape but rise to a level higher than them,’ Cao Sicong thought.

He already knew the upcoming disaster was a competition for the limited positions of Transcendent Factions. Although he did not know how many spots there were, Cao Sicong knew it would not be many.

Cao Sicong suddenly smiled. ”I accept your deal, but I have two conditions.”

”Go ahead.”

”I want a clause that your talisman is only there to monitor — that it cannot be used for influencing or controlling me.”

”Sure,” Wang Wei replied casually. He had no interest in the Dynasty Alliance. According to his calculation, if the latter does not take steps to revitalize their destiny, these lineages have no chance of surviving the disaster, let alone compete for one of the transcendent faction spots. And if he ever had any interest, he would have used his subordinate, Jia Ping, as a means to infiltrate them and take control from the inside.

”My second condition is if Ying Zheng attacks me, I will not participate in the battle.”

”That’s fine, but I will add the clause that you also can’t betray us and join his side. And the price for breaking this clause is true death.”

Cao Sicong frowned before nodding. Now that they had come to an agreement, they both signed their names. Wang Wei raised his palm to condense three things: the title, an information talisman, and the monitoring talisman.

”The monitoring talisman is a temporary one. I will send the real one a few years after this assembly,” Wang Wei said. This talisman is currently mostly used to prevent Ying Zheng from using the jade pendant to secretly affect Cao Sicong’s Existence. However, Wang Wei needs to refine a better talisman to enhance other effects, such as warning of danger and so on.

Cao Sicong took the talisman without saying much. ”When are you delivering the other promises?”

”Don’t worry. I’ve already come to an agreement with the Barbarian Race. Now that you’ve signed, they will support you,” Wang Wei smiled as he stood up. He bowed politely. ”It was a pleasure, Lord Cao Sicong.”

Cao Sicong watched him disappear. He was silent for a few seconds before sighing deeply. ”I’ve met countless devils during the invasion that enjoyed playing with emotions and souls. I’ve even tricked a few myself. But not a single one of them ever made me feel as disgusted as this meeting.”

This was truly a terrible day for Cao Sicong. Not only did he find food more exquisite than his Zong Dynasty — food that he could not have — he had to make a dirty deal with a devil. He sighed deeply, collapsing this spiritual realm.

”It’s done?” Wang Bo asked.

”Of course,” Wang Wei said with a smile.

”I suddenly feel bad for Cao Sicong,” Wang Bo sighed.

”Why? I just made his path ahead clear, and saved him plenty of merit,” Wang Wei said casually.

”I’m sure you did,” Old Man Wang Bo rolled his eyes.

A few hours passed before Qiyuan and Yan Hai opened their eyes. Everyone waited with bated breath to hear the news, but the first thing Wang Wei did was to check the Great Wall. He immediately detected that the sign of danger was gone. ’Ying Zheng got his way, huh?’

”Well?” Wang Bo asked.

”It’s a done deal,” Qiyuan said.

”So fast?” Wang Bo asked. ”Did she?”

Qiyuan shook his head. ”She explained the situation to us. Apparently, Heavenly Dao would have set up the court itself even if Ying Zheng didn’t.”

”Why?” Wang Bo asked with a frown.

”Was Supreme Unity that destructive?” Wang Wei asked.

”That’s right. He absorbed a good portion of the World Source to maintain the lock and other stuff. Additionally, Heavenly Dao also used a good portion to ensure the absolute safety of the lower dimension.”

”The trend of Heaven and Earth,” Wang Wei muttered.

”What are the final results?” Wang Bo asked.

”Cao Sicong will be the Northern Emperor,” Yan Hai said before glancing at Wang Wei. ”Buddhism insisted that Kong be the Eastern Emperor. The Divine Faith Heaven gave up their claim to the Disaster Relief Division and were handed the Southern Emperor Position, along with many seats in the council.

”Lastly, the Grand Sect Alliance offered 15% of their council’s position for the Western Emperor seat.”

”What about the Disaster Relief Division?”

”The Saint is the Department Chief,” Qiyuan revealed. ”But she claimed she’s on the figurehead. The department will truly be run by three Vice-Leaders: Wu Hong, Sage Rune Halo, and you, Wang Bo.”

”Me?”

”It’s the compromise for not participating in the fight for the emperor positions.”

Wang Wei nodded. If there were one person who could figure out how to clean up the aftermath of a Primordial Saint’s battle, it would be his future wife, followed by Sage Rune Halo from the Skill Path Association. Wang Bo also possesses some skills, but he lacks in cultivation level.

”The Myriad Clan Union didn’t complain?” Wang Wei asked. He knew the union had the Ren Clan, who had a bloodline similar to the Source Rune Physique. They served as the professional foundation of the union, just like Wang Bo did for the Dao Opening Sect.

”They did, but they received other compromises,” Qiyuan said.

”So, everything is finished?” Wang Wei asked.

”Basically,” Qiyuan nodded. ”About our department: do you want to take a role?”

”You can reserve a post for me, but my current priority is to become a Primal as soon as possible,” Wang Wei answered. Although the court’s position was an excellent way to gain merit, it was also a heavy burden, which was not something he was willing to take.

”I understand.”

Now that the proposition was accepted, the next step was the nitty gritty. Each faction elected members to occupy various positions. That process took a few days, which then led to the official creation of the court. Ying Zheng and Maitreya used that time to refine the physical location of the Heavenly Court, and seven days after the assembly started, the ceremony began.

Ying Zheng stood before an altar, followed by Cao Sicong, Emperor Kong, Shen Tian, and Dugu Baitian. They prayed to Heaven and Earth as the Heavenly Court stood behind them. Visions manifested in the sky before Heavenly Dao’s Eyes showed up.

It first acknowledged these five’s positions by lowering a bright golden light that represented their statues. Then, the eye lowered the Conferred God List. Heavenly Dao conferred the Saint Position to Maitreya since it was the only one worthy of doing such a thing.

Finally, the list was handed to Ying Zheng. Under normal circumstances, this should be the glorious moment for the Heavenly Emperor when it exercises its right to confer God Positions on its civil servants. But this was not a court done in the proper way.

Ying Zheng handed the list to Maitreya for the conferring process. This event was one of the small joys that Wang Wei had experienced about this whole affair as he knew Ying Zheng must be fuming inside. Of course, the fact that he did this knowing how it would proceed showed his determination and how far he would go to achieve his dream.
