Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1561: 12 Scrolls & 33,000 Pillars

”I remembered Qin had an Empress, right?” Wang Wei asked.

”Yes, but she has no power and is just a figurehead,” Wu Hong explained. ”In fact, the current Empress is like the 30th one.”

”I’m guessing her cultivation is not too high?”

”It was 94% before the Ultimate Taboo, and she didn’t even participate.”

”So, she died during the Moon’s Cleanup? But she must have been revived by now.”

”Maybe, or since Ying Zheng has been preparing this plan for so long, he never allowed her to revive,” Wu Hong said.

”I’ll have someone check,” Wang Wei said as he sent an order to Red Mask. ”It seems that I may have to rely on Ying Yongrui if I want a chance at getting to the Butterfly Princess.” He calmly watched a group of Qin Soldiers in golden armor — which symbolized they were part of the Imperial Legion, who only responded to Ying Zheng — show up to lead the Butterfly Princess to the royal palace.

The event ended after the princess’s departure. Many people left, feeling like something was stuck in their throats. With one move, the Qin Court’s luck, destiny, and prestige drastically increased. The worst part is that for the next few days before the assembly, they have blatantly visited the weakest Overlords like the Divine Faith Heaven, the Limitless Exchange Hall, or the Skill Path Association.

No one knew what was discussed, but everyone sensed that something devious was going on at work. All the participants thought nothing unexpected would occur, but something did, and it happened the day before the assembly.

Wang Wei was not with Wu Hong, but having dinner with Mongke and Dulgun. Besides the Barbarian Clan, three other factions had one Primal, and they could also participate in the assembly. However, while they could propose resolutions, they could not vote on them, which was highly unfair given how these four were extremely powerful if combined.

Sadly, the hidden rules of the Overlord are to suppress these four factions and do whatever is necessary to prevent them from allying with each other. The Limit Exchange Hall takes this rule extremely seriously and always keeps an eye on these four.

While the three of them were having a good time, they suddenly sensed something and looked at the sky. Twelve golden scrolls suddenly materialized between Heaven and Earth, alarming the world. The scrolls shone brightly for a few seconds before rushing into the hands of each of the Overlords.

Then, 33,000 enormous silver pillars condensed in the sky before rushing and scattering in different places around the Eternal Ascension World.

”Are those?” Mongke asked.

”Exchange Lists,” Wang Wei nodded.

”One of the pillars landing in our domain,” Dulgun commented.

”Their landing places were chosen carefully,” Wang Wei said. ”All Primal and top Paragon Lineages received one, and the rest fell in small areas occupied by powerful loose cultivators.”

”Even with a disaster looming over us, Heavenly Dao is showing favoritism,” Mongke sighed. The Overlords received exchange lists, while everyone had to use these pillars. Additionally, the exchange list probably has its advantages given its gold, while the pillars are silver.

A look of determination flashed in Mongke’s eyes. He knew that Heavenly Dao did it on purpose; its exact target is Primal Lineages, like the Barbarian Race, with the potential to cultivate a second Primal and compete for an Overlord spot. Heavenly Dao wants them to compete and destroy each other to reshuffle the board.

But knowing the enemy’s scheme does not mean he can do something. If there is one thing that Mongke learned from his time with Wang Wei, it was that he had to play the game before he reached the level to overthrow it.

”I must leave,” Wang Wei said.

”We understand,” Mongke said. In fact, he had to leave as well. With such a sudden change, many secret meetings were taking place or were about to take place. Wang Wei nodded before walking away. Long-distance teleportation and high-speed flying were banned in the capital, so Wang Wei had to control himself as he rushed home.

As soon as he arrived, everybody — including Miscellaneous, Wang Bo, and Tang Song — was already seated. ”What did I miss?” Wang Wei asked.

”See for yourself,” Qiyuan replied before handing him their exchange list. Wang Wei sat down while reading the content. As expected, the highest level no longer displayed the question mark, but was labeled [First Step Transcendent].

Wang Wei’s eyes shone brightly and he read the content, starting from the bottom. He did not recognize most of these things except for the Samsara Genesis Stone or the talisman he received from his grandmother. Luckily, the exchange list was responsive, and after focusing on something, it would show a visual and a description.

The bottom part of this list primarily consisted of unique materials to train Primals and items necessary to establish a Transcendent Foundation. Wang Wei salivated as he read the book, but this was just the beginning.

Near the middle, he saw two things that caught his attention. The first was something called the Battle Realm Nirvana Stone, which allowed someone to compensate for missing the Taboo Battle Realm in a previous realm. Although it could only be used once, it was a noteworthy thing.

The second thing was called the [Greater Transfer Mandate], which allowed a Primal who was only a Pseudo-Eternal to transfer into a Boundless Paragon without any side effects. In the Eternal Ascension World, only three people — including Battle Maniac — became Primal while only being a Pseudo Eternal (not counting the ones who used a Bodyrefiner’s Willpower Manifestation like Wang Chong).

Wang Wei took notice of these two things before moving upward. He noticed a change in the middle section of the list because of the sudden price change. The lower list used purple merit as a payment unit, but the middle level used Purple Cloud as a measurement.

Wang Wei’s lips twitched. Merit was divided into colorless, gold, and purple. And the number of merits required to condense a cloud was astronomical, let alone using purple merit. He sighed before continuing to read.

If the lower section focused on cultivating Primals and establishing a deep foundation for the Quintessence Realm, then the middle section was about concrete ways to condense either the Flesh or Soul Quintessence. Wang Wei saw numerous flawed methods, both for the soul and the flesh.

He saw a talisman that contained preaching from Primordial Chaos Saints. He saw access to dimensions that would bless a cultivator with knowledge from the Heavenly Dao to help them perfect flawed methods or create their own. He saw pills that allowed cultivators to experience the life of a Primordial Saint from birth until their transcendence.

’Heavenly Dao truly went all out,’ Wang Wei contemplated. He could imagine how much luck and destiny Heavenly Dao used to make the things on this list available. He continued reading, believing he had seen everything this section had to offer.

However, Wang Wei couldn’t be more wrong after seeing what was at the top of the middle section.

[Transcendent Heaven Will (Only 2 available): Upon absorption, a Peak Paragon will have their soul forcibly nourished by the essence of Heavenly Dao, thus condensing a Soul Quintessence

[Warning 1: This path does not guarantee success, and failure will result in the Transcendent Heaven Will being recycled.

[Warning 2: Using this method means the cultivator will be the weakest of its realm.]

’This changes so much,’ Wang Wei thought. Forget how some desperate people will not care about the warnings. After all, most people lack confidence in taking the next step. The most important aspect is that these Overlords have learned from their mistakes.

They saw the result of not having a Primordial Saint as the protector for their lineage. With this Heaven Will, they will have a higher chance of surviving the disaster, while also buying themselves time to find their transcendent path without the heavy burden of protecting others.

’The sect must get at least one of those,’ Wang Wei thought. Even the scary number of purple clouds required for this Transcendent Heaven Will did not deter Wang Wei, and he doubted that it would influence the other Overlords.

Wang Wei calmed himself enough to check the list’s upper section. The prices jumped from purple clouds to golden dragons. By condensing a large portion of gold merit, it will turn into golden clouds, and further amalgamation will turn into golden dragons. The lowest price in that section used golden dragons, and the highest utilized purple dragons.

At first, Wang Wei wanted to complain that Heavenly Dao was ripping people off. However, he saw that all the things in that area were First Step Quintessence Tier materials. It included raw herbs and ores to finish pills and weapons.

Additionally, it explicitly stated that merit was not the only accepted form of payment, suggesting Primordial Saints can use things of equal value for exchange. Wang Wei briefly scanned and memorized the upper area, not focusing too much on them. This area was above his pay grade, both literally and figuratively.
