Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1593: Supreme Might vs Sword Empress

’I need to do something to tip the scale,’ Wang Wei thought. He immediately contacted Cao Sicong, attempting to persuade the latter to intervene in this matter. With the promise of benefits and resources, he felt he could convince him. However, the bastard did not even answer Wang Wei’s communication.

Instead, he came into contact with Cao Sicong’s people, and they informed him that he had been in seclusion since the end of the assembly. Wang Wei resisted the urge to curse him. Instead, he focused on Plan B: the Heavenly Serpent Empress.

She was the only available Primal with whom he had a connection. As such, he wanted to bargain with her using the means to repair her artifact, but Wang Wei still hit a wall. For some reason, she flat-out rejected his proposition and refused further communication.

’I guess Plan C it is,’ Wang Wei sighed. However, before he could act, the sealed assassin started to radiate even more power. He even sensed a slight will descending inside the earth sphere. ’Damn it, does this bastard want to force himself into this world?’ Without much of a choice, he had to use his Luck Dao and use his tiny portion of Transcendent Luck to tap into a form of higher power to continue sealing this damn woman.

’Did you sense that?’ Bai Qi asked as he glanced over to Wang Wei.

’That Qi Luck,’ the Grand Preceptor muttered. ’There is indeed such a thing as Transcendent Luck, and someone in this world has it.’

’His majesty may have underestimated how much of a threat he was,’ Bai Qi said calmly and coldly. ’Once this is over, he must be on the priority list for elimination.’

’His talent is truly horrifying,’ the Grand Preceptor sighed. ’And now that he’s going to such extremes to save Empress Wu, we can confirm the rumor about their relationship.’

’He’s an unknown variable, and I don’t like that,’ Bai Qi said. ’Let’s do whatever it takes to achieve the mission.’ He did not hesitate to burn his every essence to increase his strength. Although such an act will severely weaken him, and he’ll need numerous rare resources and ample time to recover, the benefits outweigh the risks.

The Grand Preceptor and the Terracotta General followed his example. After these extreme measures, the golden shield from the Hong Protection System started to fluctuate. Meanwhile, Wang Wei had his own trouble, so he could only put his hope on someone from the clan coming to the rescue.

...

As soon as she entered the Void Battlefield, Yan Hai did not play around. She knew one of her closest friends’ life and legacy were at stake, so she went all out from the beginning. Her bamboo sword materialized in her palm, followed by all six Grand Constructs manifested behind her.

”Not playing around, huh?” Dugu Baitian smiled. He slowly removed the upper half of his robe, showing his muscular upper body and burning scar. Six Grand Constructs also manifested behind him.

[Divine Repository: Unbreakable Skin]

A purple aura surrounded Dugu Baitian’s skin, giving him a sense of invulnerability. However, this was just the beginning. The aura trembled before absorbing power from three constructs: Source Qi Space, Grand Dao Source, and Primordial Chaos. Dugu Baitian casually cracked his neck before rushing to his opponent.

Yan Hai’s response was calm and unhurried. She swung her sword to use the technique: Severing Strike. The River of Fate, Six Paths Samasara, and Primordial Chaos trembled behind it as her bamboo released a dark-red sword slash that made Heaven and Earth pale.

Dugu Baitian crossed his arm to block the slash, which he did. However, the force behind the attack dragged his body more than a hundred meters in the void despite his best attempt at resisting. He looked at the gushing wound on his forearm, and his lips secretly twitched.

”Sword and Sword Realm,” he muttered. This single attack had removed all doubt: the Sword Empress had tempered her body, and is now walking the Ultimate Sword Path. Due to the nature of swordsmanship and her unique Dao, she already had the highest attack potency among primals. But now, she was even more powerful after entering the 12th stage of swordsmanship.

’I need to change tactics,’ Dugu Baitian thought. Everyone knew the best way to fight Yan Hai was to either push through her crazy attacks or evade, and then target her weak physical body, doing the most damage possible within the limited opportunity.

[Divine Repository: Indestructible Skin]

His body absorbed power from Six Paths Samsara, further elevating his Grand Construct skill. Dugu Baitian’s aura changed; it was as if he were the fundamental pillar holding all of existence together — he was mighty, resilient, and eternal.

’You want a battle of attrition?’ Yan Hai smirked. Everyone knew that using more than three constructs would drain a primal of their stamina and soul energy. Unfortunately for Dugu Baitian, because Yan Hai used to be a glass cannon, she had spent most of her time perfecting her technique so that it was as powerful as possible while being as draining as possible to ensure she could use as many of them in a fight.

[Infinite Penetration Stab]

A fourth Grand Construct shone behind Yan Hai before stabbing her bamboo. A while light rushed toward Dugu Baitiain, containing the power to penetrate space-time, to pierce through the veil of fate, to divine primordial chaos, and puncture finality or death.

Dugu Baitian had already raised his hand to block this attack. As long as he succeeds, he can get close for a close-combat fight. However, his instinct of danger was activated, and he chose evasion at the last minute. The stabbing light instantly chopped off his left arm.

’Her attack has truly reached a scary level,’ Dugu Baitian sighed to himself as he looked at his missing limb. Yan Hai’s Dao is known as Heaven-Slashing. She first created it when she was young, knowing that the Heavenly Dao of her Heaven Will World had sealed her swordsmanship talent out of fear for her potential.

But she has long sensed ”slay Heaven.’ The legacy of the Sword Empress is the prevention of any world in the lower dimension from gaining sentience. So, what happened to her Dao after ascension? Did she focus on slashing True Heavenly Dao? Or maybe, her target has changed to Grand Dao itself. After all, it is ”she” who reigns above everything in this Chaos Universe.𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

Yan Hai was once puzzled by these questions, and the answer she derived could be described as both. Yes, she wanted to slay Heavenly Dao and Grand Dao. However, this was not the core or fundamental essence of her Dao. The core idea of her Dao was slashing or slaying the highest peak.

She wanted her attack to be capable of killing the highest of existence. Currently, that title is held by Grand Dao, but what if one day, someone else were the new peak — the new Heaven? Yan Hai wanted to be able to slay it. Such a minor mindset might seem insignificant, but it drastically changed the nature of her Dao.

For starters, this mindset change meant her Dao was more versatile. She stripped the focus from targeting entities like Heavenly Dao, and allowed her to decide what the [Heaven] in her Dao is. Her sword was no longer limited by what kind of lifeform she wanted to kill.

Second, this change meant that Yan Hai always had something or someone to chase — a new peak to conquer or slay. And even if one day she is the [Heaven], she is the epitome of power, she can still shift to create a sword that can slay the self.

Lastly, Yan Hai’s Dao had now acquired one of its unique properties: constant evolution. Anyone who has fought her knows one truth: do not let the battle go on for long. As long as she is not defeated, then her Dao will eventually evolve into the state where she can kill her opponent with one strike.

This single fact alone is proof of the Heaven Slashing Dao’s potential. Theoretically speaking, if Yan Hai could use other support to last long enough against a Primordial Chaos Saint that she desperately wishes to kill, her sword will eventually evolve to do so.

[Divine Repository: Spirit Aspect: Willpower Boost]

A gentle yellowed light appeared in Dugu Baitian’s forehead. As he opened a hidden gate of potential in his forehead, his Willpower Manifestation received a temporary boost. He used it to remove the hidden sword will from the attack on his left arm before regenerating it.

[Divine Repository: Infinity Trampling Feet]

As Yan Hai’s second stab was heading for his head, Dugu Baitian changed tactics for the second time. Instead of tanking her attack, he chose to evade. His feet released a golden light before he moved out of the way of the white light.

[Divine Repository: World Destroying Strength]

He moved on top of Yan Hai before punching her. His fist contained the endless weight of primordial chaos, the power of history condensed into a single force, infinite energy condensed into mass, and the weight of all the dead sinners from past and present.
