Journey of the Fate Destroying Emperor

Chapter 1597: Out-of-Control

[Absolute Conquest]

A golden throne manifested above Dugu Baitian’s head, and its mere presence suppressed everything between Heaven and Earth. Runes rapidly manifested on the throne’s back until there were exactly 3800. The exact number of chains rushed out of these runes to embed themselves into the Grand Dao Source.’

Dugu Baitian could feel the summons of limbo as that enormous sword descended on him, so he went all out. He used all the powers from the 3000 primary Daos and 800 side Daos to create a new Divine Repository that served as the core of his Undying Body.

The clash was phenomenal. If there were an answer to the question of what would happen if an unmovable object met an unstoppable force, this confrontation would be the closest to an answer. The sheer power generated slightly curved the Void Battlefield.

”Not bad,” Yan Hai praised. Dugu Baitian looked terrible. Blood had covered most of his upper body, and his breathing was faster than a horse galloping at full speed on an empty plain. However, all these were superficial injuries in the grand scheme of things.

”Let’s see how much you can survive,” Yan Hai smiled. Her bamboo turned into a physical wooden sword. She swung the blade, but oddly, she did not use any of the edges, meaning she attacked with the flat side. The six Grand Constructs trembled for the second time before a black hole appeared underneath Yan Hai’s swords.

The black turned into an all-encompassing darkness and spread with immeasurable speed. Dugu Baitian’s expression became ugly as he defended himself. He not only used the previous defensive technique, but also added a counterattack. The darkness did not only spread to his area, but also expanded to Yan Hai.

A bright sword cut it off, revealing a pale Yan Hai, with some part of her clothes missing. Meanwhile, Dugu Baitian was looking even worse. His two arms were missing, and based on how clean the wound looked, it appeared as if they had instantly dissipated as if swallowed by something. ’This is bad,’ he thought.

The second attack not only did more damage, but he also lost in the battle of True Will. Currently, a terrifying power, marked by the annoying characteristic of eternal aggression, was suppressing all his regeneration and causing chaos within his body.

’I’ll need at least 10 seconds to remove it,’ Dugu Baitian realized with an ugly expression. That was too long. He teleported two pills into his stomach, and now, he could be free in three seconds. Additionally, the chaotic power from the first attack was now gone, allowing him to heal the wounds from that attack.

’I should have listened to Wang Chong,’ Yan Hai thought. Previously, he would be on the verge of passing out after a second attack of this level, and she would need pills to continue fighting. However, with her new body tempering achievements, she can attack twice before needing to recuperate stamina and soul power.

She waved her sword to generate a sword slash so sharp that any Gold Dao cultivator would envy, a slash so sharp that it could cut the senses of any Heavenly Dao from a non-source Chaos World, a slash so sharp that reality seemed to be severed with the slightest of pressure.

’I should have learned that kid’s Soul Ring technique,’ Yan Hai thought as she felt the pain in her heart and the ache in her soul. Dugu Baitian had lost his two legs and one eye, but he was alive and remained determined. Yan Hai consumed a pill to recuperate. As for her opponent? She could tell he had swallowed more than a dozen pills already. However, pills were limited, and after being pushed to such a level, their effect was almost nonexistent.

Yan Hai twirled her sword, creating afterimages, before catching. The world turned dark for less than an attosecond before reverting back. Yan Hai was now behind her opponent, and with a flick of her wrist, she removed the blood on her bamboo sword.

Swish!

Slashes after slashes manifested on what remained of the Grand Chancellor: a thousand, ten thousand, million, billion, trillion, and unknown. The slashes tore apart every atom in his body, every ounce of energy, and every particle of his soul or spirit.

’It’s a shame I didn’t find his Time Mark, but it’s enough that I sent him to Limbo,’ Yan Hai thought as she relaxed. She was pretty satisfied with this battle, as it showcased her newfound strength after transitioning to the Ultimate Sword Path. In the past, she has won way more than she has lost to Dugu Baitian, but her victories are usually very miserable.

”Grhhh.” A bestial roar shook not only the Void Battlefield, but a decent portion of the Eternal Ascension World.

”This aura — how is that possible?” She was sure her attack had annihilated him. Maybe Dugu Baitian had a longevity resource. Although the third rank ones are rare, and he should have used them already during the Ultimate Taboo, there is still the possibility that he had one left. However, Yan Hai knew this could not be possible because her Proving Dao Artifact contained these unique miniature runes created from No-Life Iron, meaning the latter’s longevity resource should have been useless.

A perfectly intact Dugu Baitian materialized a few hundred meters away. However, it did not take Yan Hai much to realize something was wrong with him. His aura was this ominous dark purple, and his eyes glowed blood red. The way he looked at her was like a mindless beast about to pounce on the first life it noticed after years of hibernation and hunger.

Boom!

A blood mist appeared where Yan Hai was standing. ”What the hell?” she cursed as she regenerated in the distance. A force field composed of myriad sharp sword energy surrounded her; they were just in time as a fist crashed into them. The force field lasted long enough for Yan Hai to cross her arm.

The sound of bones cracking echoed between Heaven and Earth, followed by an explosion of blood and flesh. Dugu Baitian — no, this creature — roared so ferociously that it created a shockwave potent enough to send Yan Hai flying.

”What the hell happened to him?’ she thought, trying to analyze the situation. She focused on his body to detect any news, but soon realized she was only observing an afterimage. The real body had already teleported above her flying body, preparing to kick and destroy her innards.

Yan Hai’s body acted on instinct, releasing hundreds of physical swords. Most of these swords contained a sealed attack of at least 3-4 Grand Construct Skills, and one 6 Grand Construct Skill. This new defensive mechanism was created after she entered the Elder Fiendgod Realm, and she was pretty proud of it.

The out-of-control Dugu Baitian ignored most of the swords, allowing them to hit him. And to Yan Hai’s horror, they didn’t even leave a scratch on his skin. Meanwhile, he punched the most powerful sword. His fist clashed for close to a second with the sword before pushing it away.

That second was crucial to Yan Hai. It bought her enough time to distance herself from this beast, heal, and cast the [Mind’s Eye Technique]. All cultivators will have to, at some point, fuse with Heaven and Earth — it’s the most orthodox and direct way to eventually observe the world’s laws. The mind’s eye is a common technique used by cultivators or swordsmen for this process.

However, the Sword Empress’s mind’s eye could never be described as ordinary. She did not just improve her senses. No, she forced Heaven and Earth, time, fate, death, and even causality to be her eyes. Finally, she saw Dugu Baitian moving with unparalleled speed, targeting her throat.

At first, it appeared as if Yan Hai could not react in time, but at the last moment, her body moved out of the way. Her brother’s evasion ultimate skill is crucial in these dangerous times. The creature was relentless after the first attack failed, but Yan Hai always managed to evade him at the last minute.

”Arghh,” the mad beast roared before condensing a red energy ball and destroying everything in a few billion light-years with one blast. Since it couldn’t crush the unpleasant lifeform with his hands, he decided to destroy everything in sight.

’Is he possessed?” Yan Hai thought as she teleported away from the blast’s area of effect. She sensed a chaotic will from Dugu Baitian that did not belong to him. ’No, it’s not possession. The source of his power seemed to be an ungodly amount of rage being forced into his Sea of Consciousness.

’Wait, rage? Didn’t the kid say the Grand Sect Alliance was interested in the Desire Heart Palace?’ She started putting a few things together. Dugu Baitian must have found something in the Ultimate Taboo, probably related to emotions. This current transformation, if it can be called as such, is the result of the latter trying to master whatever power he had discovered.
