I Married the President

Chapter 541: Chapter 541: Should Not Be Agitated

Before Old Master Quincy could speak, Mrs. Quincy walked in and chimed in, ”Dad, didn’t you see that Yara’s left leg is gone? It’s all because of Claire Sinclair six months ago! Yara has already been in prison for half a year for nothing, and once she recovers, she has to go back and finish her sentence. She’s been sentenced to ten years!”

As she finished, Mrs. Quincy burst into tears.

Seeing this, Old Master Quincy finally believed the mother and daughter. He frowned. ”Quinn is such an upstanding person, how could he have a sister like that? Where’s Adrian? I’ll ask him myself!”

Yara Quincy immediately said, ”Grandpa, it’s no use seeing my brother. He doesn’t even care about his election campaign anymore. He just fools around with Claire Sinclair all day. And did you know, Grandpa? For Claire Sinclair, he even went on a variety show! My brother isn’t the man he used to be. No one can talk any sense into him.”

Mrs. Quincy added, her voice choked with sobs, ”Dad, Yara is only twenty-five! After she gets out of prison in ten years, how is she supposed to get married or build a life for herself? She’s my only daughter...”

Seeing his daughter-in-law weeping so pitifully, Old Master Quincy flew into a rage. His breathing grew ragged as he cursed, ”That brat Adrian! I told him long ago that romantic entanglements are the death of ambition. The moment I take my eyes off him, he makes this kind of stupid mistake! Get him in here, now! I’m going to teach him a lesson he won’t forget!”

Mrs. Quincy smiled through her tears. ”Dad, does that mean you’ll speak up for Yara?”

Old Master Quincy said gravely, ”First, just get him here...”

The fit of rage was too much for him. As soon as the words left his mouth, Old Master Quincy gasped, unable to catch his breath. The monitor by his bed began to beep erratically, frightening the mother and daughter.

Mrs. Quincy immediately turned and ran out to find a doctor. Yara, however, remained seated and said casually, ”Grandpa, try to calm down. The doctor will be here in a moment.”

Old Master Quincy gasped a few times, then suddenly lost consciousness.

”Grandpa!” Yara cried out. She looked like she was about to go check on him, but in the end, she did nothing, simply sitting and waiting quietly.

A short while later, a doctor came in and administered emergency treatment. They managed to revive Old Master Quincy, but his condition was far from optimistic.

The doctor looked at the mother and daughter and offered a gentle warning, ”The old gentleman must avoid any agitation right now. Please, try not to tell him anything distressing. Otherwise, the consequences could be dire.”

Mrs. Quincy nodded, understanding the implication. ”I understand, Doctor. When will my father wake up?”

”Just wait. He’ll wake when he’s had enough rest,” the doctor replied.

Only then did Mrs. Quincy let the doctor leave. She immediately turned to her precious daughter. ”Yara, don’t you worry. As long as your grandfather is still breathing, you have a chance of getting out of prison.”

Yara nodded.

’All the humiliation I’ve endured for the past six months has been for this very day. All I had to do was wait for Grandpa to be critically ill, use it as a chance to get ”sick” myself, and then secretly feed him all the dirt on Claire Sinclair while pleading my own case. Grandpa would definitely order my brother to let me out of prison.’

’That bastard brother of mine doesn’t listen to anyone, but he’ll definitely listen to Grandpa. And with Grandpa knocking on death’s door, my brother would never let him die with regrets.’

’And as for Claire Sinclair... once I’m out, I’ll make her pay tenfold for every bit of suffering I’ve endured these past six months!’

Meanwhile, Claire Sinclair was up early to accompany The Great Demon King Quincy to the hospital to visit his grandfather.

To her surprise, when she arrived outside the hospital room, she saw Yara Quincy sitting in a wheelchair.

She hadn’t seen the other woman in six months, and her expression remained mostly neutral. But at the memory of her miscarriage, a sharp pain twisted in her heart.
