I Married the President

Chapter 533: Chapter 533: As Disappointing as Ever

Fatty Carson was a notorious sadist from the neighboring community. He’d tortured all the local pets to death and had even injured children who came from outside to play. But just as those two women had said, the Carson Family had no other heirs, so they could only spoil Fatty Carson rotten and paid to make any trouble he caused go away.

’Was this the future Ethan Kingsley had found for her?’

’If she hadn’t walked out of that room just now, what would have become of her?’

’It was unimaginable, unthinkable.’

’At this moment, she felt so incredibly fortunate.’

’She was fortunate to have stumbled into Ethan Kingsley’s room by mistake. Even though she’d ended up sleeping with him, wasn’t that still better than being tortured and disfigured by that imbecile?’

’Hahaha...’

Ivy Tanner wanted to laugh hysterically, but at that moment, she couldn’t even manage a smile.

’What was she going to do?’

’What was she supposed to do from now on?’

She had slept with Ethan Kingsley. Although he thought she was Corinne Linden, he would discover the truth soon enough. She knew this because she’d just overheard Corinne Linden on the phone.

”Dad, I’ve taken care of what you asked. I just got back to the hotel.”

”Ethan’s birthday party isn’t over yet, so I’ll head home later...”

”Okay, Dad, you get some sleep. Good night.”

After hanging up, Corinne Linden left.

Only then did Ivy Tanner emerge from the women’s restroom and return to the main hall.

She happened to see Corinne Linden heading up to the second floor, presumably to find out what had happened up there.

At that moment, a single, powerful thought took hold of Ivy Tanner: ’Get out of here. I have to leave, right now!’

Just as she turned to leave, she heard a piercing scream. ”AHHHHH—”

The shrill sound immediately drew everyone’s attention.

Everyone stared at her in astonishment.

”Th-Third Miss Tanner...”

”What is she doing here? Then who’s the disfigured woman on the second floor?”

”Heavens, what’s going on?”

...

Ivy Tanner wasn’t used to so many people staring at her. Having not socialized for years, she suffered from severe social anxiety. Her body went weak, and she sank to the floor, clutching her head as her teeth chattered uncontrollably.

Word of the commotion quickly reached Ethan Kingsley. He rushed down as fast as he could and pulled Ivy Tanner to her feet.

”Little Cutie, where did you run off to? I was worried sick,” the man said, his eyes filled with concern, but his tone held a hint of reprimand.

But to Ivy Tanner, his words were nothing but hypocrisy and mockery.

’Two hours ago, he wanted her dead, and now he was feigning concern? It had to be because he knew his plan had failed, so he was putting on an act for everyone to see, right?’

’Ethan Kingsley, you’re just as disappointing as ever.’

A sad smile touched Ivy Tanner’s lips. She dropped the simpleton act, and as tears streamed from her eyes, she choked out, ”It hurts so much.”

”Where does it hurt?” Ethan Kingsley immediately began to check her over, scanning every part of her not covered by clothing, but he found no injuries.

However, he did notice several red marks on her neck.

As a man with years of experience in the dating world, he recognized them as hickeys at a single glance.

Ethan Kingsley’s expression instantly darkened. ”Who did this to you?” he demanded coldly. ”Tell me!”

Ivy Tanner just smiled at him, her vision blurred by tears she couldn’t be bothered to wipe away. She didn’t bother answering, either, simply gazing at him in utter despair.

Ethan Kingsley mistook her despair for aggrieved silence, which only fueled his anger. He spun around to face the crowd and roared, ”Whoever hurt my Little Cutie, get the hell out here now!”

Of course, no one came forward.

’How amusing,’ Ivy Tanner thought. ’Truly amusing. The man was such a thorough actor, playing his part as if it were all real.’

’But these numb-minded people would never know the truth. And even if they did, no one would ever believe her.’
