I Married the President

Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Will Adrian Quincy Fall for the Trap?

Two years ago, at Quinn Sinclair’s funeral, this car had appeared several times. The driver was the same man from back then.

’It must be Quinn’s boss! He’s back!’

Having locked onto his target, Peter Sinclair boldly walked over to block the car.

The car was forced to a stop on the side of the road.

Peter Sinclair ran over excitedly and pounded on the car window.

”Sir, it’s me! I’m Quinn Sinclair’s father!”

After a moment, the car remained silent. The window didn’t even roll down.

Unwilling to give up, Peter Sinclair continued to pound on the door. ”Sir, please get out! I have something to tell you—something very important!”

Aiden Howkins glanced at the slovenly old man outside and frowned. ”Young Master Quincy, should I have him removed?”

Adrian Quincy sat in the back, tablet in hand, browsing the latest online news.

As if oblivious to the commotion outside, he said simply, ”Drive in.”

Aiden Howkins acknowledged the order, started the car, and quickly sped into Quincy Manor.

Peter Sinclair gave chase for a few steps before being stopped at the gate once again.

”Sir! Sir...”

He yelled a few times, but there was no response.

Peter Sinclair seethed with anger.

’The big shot didn’t even know who he was. He’d expected as much. But if that damn girl Claire had been the one to come, it definitely would have worked.’

’That wretched girl... just wait until I get home. I’ll teach her a lesson!’

Peter Sinclair returned empty-handed, his mood growing fouler by the second. Instead of going straight home, he ducked into a small nearby restaurant, ordered a bottle of baijiu, and began to drink alone.

After a few gulps, the alcohol went to his head. Suddenly, a man in a suit sat down beside him.

At the same moment, all the other customers in the little restaurant had mysteriously vanished.

The man in the suit spoke politely. ”Sir, I heard you went to Quincy Manor to see Young Master Quincy today but ended up getting sent packing?”

Peter’s temper flared. ”Who the hell are you? What I do is none of your damn business!”

The man in the suit didn’t get angry at the insult, remaining perfectly courteous.

”My name is Seth Payne, and I work at Quincy Manor. With so many people watching at the gate today, Young Master Quincy felt it wouldn’t be right to accept your cigarette. He was worried it would attract the wrong kind of attention. So, he sent me to find you in private. Tell me, what is it you need from Young Master Quincy?”

Although Peter Sinclair was drunk, he could see the man was well-dressed and polished—clearly someone who worked in a place like that. He didn’t suspect a thing.

Hearing the title ’Young Master Quincy’ for the first time, Peter Sinclair asked, ”This Young Master Quincy... what does he do at Quincy Manor? Was he my daughter’s boss?”

A flicker of impatience crossed Seth Payne’s eyes, but for the sake of his mission, he kept his tone polite. ”Young Master Quincy is the master of Quincy Manor. Everyone there answers to him. Quinn Sinclair used to be one of his subordinates.”

Peter Sinclair’s eyes lit up. ”So, you’re telling me Young Master Quincy sent you?”

Seth Payne nodded. ”Correct. Tell me what you need, and I’ll pass it along to Young Master Quincy.”

Peter Sinclair said at once, ”My daughter’s boyfriend has been arrested. I want to ask Young Master Quincy to do me a favor, for my late daughter’s sake. Help me put in a good word, get the man released. Do you think Young Master Quincy would be willing to help me?”

”Which daughter’s boyfriend?” Seth Payne asked curiously.

”It’s Melanie! My younger daughter, Melanie. She’s a real beauty, you know. A father’s got to do something for his kids, right!”

’Melanie Sinclair?’

A sinister smile touched Seth Payne’s lips. This suited his plans perfectly.

”Sir,” he said, ”you should have your *other* daughter go see Young Master Quincy.”
