I Married the President

Chapter 9: Chapter 9: We’re Incompatible, So We’re Breaking Up

Logan Linden was beaming, looking like he’d just heard some wonderful news. ”Claire, what’s the good news? Quick, tell me.”

Claire Sinclair didn’t want to waste any time on him and said coldly, ”Let’s break up.”

”What?” Logan Linden froze, thinking he had misheard.

Claire Sinclair’s eyes darkened, and her tone was resolute. ”I’m dumping you. We’re over.”

”Why?” Logan Linden grabbed her hand frantically. His grip was so strong it almost made Claire Sinclair think he was afraid of losing her.

’But was that even possible?’

Claire Sinclair yanked her hand back and said in a low voice, ”Our values are incompatible, so we’re breaking up.”

”Claire, why are you saying this all of a sudden? Did I do something wrong?” Logan Linden looked anxious as he reached out to take her hand again.

Claire Sinclair immediately pulled her hand under the table and leaned back in her chair, keeping him from touching her.

”You know perfectly well what you did to wrong me.” Her tone was so calm it surprised even herself; she never thought she could be this composed while breaking up with someone.

Logan Linden stared at her cold face in astonishment. ’Does she know about me and Melanie?’

”Claire, it’s not what you think between me and Melanie.”

”If it’s not that, then what is it?” Claire Sinclair cut in coldly.

Logan Linden didn’t know how much she knew, so he tested the waters. ”I’ve always treated Melanie like a little sister. She has a very dependent personality, so I...”

”So you slept with her.” It wasn’t a question; it was a statement.

Logan Linden was so stunned he was rendered speechless.

Claire Sinclair laughed inwardly. ’The scumbag probably thought that, with my level of intelligence, I’d never find out, huh?’

Heh...

’But she did discover it.’

With a THUD, Logan Linden dropped to his knees and hugged her thigh. ”Claire, I’m sorry, I was wrong! It was just a fling with Melanie. You’re the one I’ve always loved!”

’What the fuck!’

Claire Sinclair couldn’t take it anymore and kicked him away. ”Don’t touch me!”

Caught off guard by the kick, a sinister glint flashed in Logan Linden’s eyes. He almost lost control and hit back, but for the sake of two million, he had to endure it, even if it meant grinding his dignity into the dust.

”Claire, Claire, I was really wrong! Melanie seduced me! I’m so sorry, I love you...”

Tears and snot streamed down Logan Linden’s face, his performance utterly convincing.

Claire Sinclair gave a cold smirk, took out her phone, and played the scandalous video she had hacked.

She deliberately turned the volume all the way up, blasting the shameless pair’s filthy dialogue and moans, which quickly drew the attention of the other customers.

The color drained from Logan Linden’s face. ’How does she have this video?’

’He’d recorded this video for the thrill of it, and he had never uploaded it online...’

’No, now isn’t the time to be thinking about this!’

’Since she already knows, there’s no point in hiding it anymore.’

’He was determined to get that two million in compensation money!’

Logan Linden’s face darkened. ”Since you know, let’s just lay our cards on the table and settle our accounts.”

Seeing the greed on his face, Claire Sinclair knew what he was planning and decided to make a preemptive strike.

”I’ve done the math. I bought you a set of designer clothes from Brand X for 30,000 yuan, a pair of limited-edition running shoes for 20,000 yuan, and the 100,000-yuan watch on your wrist. I bought all of those for you.

”I also went through my online bank records. After we subtract the 5,000 yuan you gave me for rent, you still owe me another 45,000. That brings the total to 195,000 yuan. I’m not even counting the small stuff. I want you to pay me back all 195,000.”
