I Married the President

Chapter 34: Chapter 34: Taking Her for a Saintly White Lotus

Peter Sinclair’s attitude suddenly shifted. His tone softened. ”Go find that old boss of yours right now. Have him pull some strings and get Logan Linden out early.”

Claire Sinclair found it utterly ridiculous. ”Dad, I don’t know anyone at Quincy Manor. Besides, Logan Linden broke the law. Even going to Quincy Manor would be useless.”

”You damn girl! The Linden Family came to me for help, and I already promised them I’d get Logan Linden out. You’re his girlfriend! If you don’t go to Quincy Manor, who will?”

’Girlfriend, my ass!’

The mere thought that she had actually dated a scumbag like that for two years made Claire Sinclair feel sick to her stomach. She refused resolutely. ”Dad, I’m afraid I’m going to have to disappoint you this time. I have no intention of going to any Quincy Manor, and I don’t want to save Logan Linden. A man like him isn’t worth saving.”

Hearing his daughter’s words, Peter Sinclair exploded. ”You useless thing! Are you trying to make me lose face in public? Let me tell you, you’re going to Quincy Manor whether you like it or not! If Logan Linden isn’t released, I’ll pretend I never had a daughter like you!”

Heh... Claire Sinclair laughed.

’He didn’t even ask what crime Logan committed. Just for the sake of his own pride, he wants me to go to Quincy Manor and grovel. Is a father like this really my biological father?’

”Dad... I call you ’Dad,’ but have you ever once treated me like your daughter?”

With that, she hung up the phone.

’What a joke. Does he think I’m some kind of saintly, pure-hearted fool?’

...

「The Sinclair Residence.」

After his daughter hung up on him, Peter Sinclair was so furious he wanted to rush over and beat her to death. But he had promised the Linden Family he would get their son out, and he couldn’t afford to lose face. No matter how angry he was, he still had to get his estranged daughter to handle it.

Peter Sinclair patiently called Claire Sinclair again. It rang once, then was hung up again.

’That useless girl! Is she trying to piss me off until I die?’

Furious and anxious, Peter Sinclair kept calling his daughter.

Watching from the side, Mrs. Lowell couldn’t take it anymore. ”Honey, if she won’t answer her phone, let’s just go find her. I don’t believe she’d dare to defy you to your face!”

Peter Sinclair roared, ”The point is I don’t know where the hell that useless girl is right now! She never told me. Where are we supposed to go find her?!”

Mrs. Lowell covered her forehead and began to cry, snot and tears streaming down her face.

”Oh, my poor Melanie, her life is so hard... She finally got a boyfriend, but he was stolen by her older sister! Fine, he was stolen, but now that he’s in trouble, her sister just stands by and does nothing! Her sister is clearly just trying to make things difficult for my Melanie! You Sinclairs just love to bully the two of us!”

Seeing her crying and making a scene, Peter Sinclair’s heart softened. ”Alright, alright. That useless thing Claire has been a good-for-nothing since she was a child. I will definitely give Melanie a proper explanation for this.”

”Then what do you propose we do now? My Melanie is deeply in love with Logan Linden. Even when he was stolen from her, she didn’t say a word and just silently watched over him for two years. Now your Claire has dumped him, and my Melanie is both happy and sad. As her mother, I’m so worried for her!”

Peter Sinclair clenched his fists in anger. ”That damn girl Claire, she doesn’t understand a thing! Just wait until she comes back! See if I don’t break her goddamn legs!”

”What’s the use of just talking? Where are we supposed to find her?!”

”Tomorrow is her mother’s death anniversary. Claire will come back. I’ll deal with her then!”

Hearing this, a cunning glint flashed in Mrs. Lowell’s eyes.

’So that woman’s death anniversary is already here again. That little bitch Claire might not like coming home, but every year on her mother’s death anniversary, she always comes back to burn incense and pay her respects.’

’How dare she steal a boyfriend from my Melanie? Tomorrow, I’ll make her pay!’
