BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

A phenomenon of heaven and earth engulfed the entire Yunlan Mountain. The Heavenly Alliance disciples stationed there gazed toward the rear mountain, whispering in awe at the vision spreading across the sky. The Yunlan Sect was long gone—what now stood atop the mountain was the headquarters of the Heavenly Alliance. Yun Yun, Nalan Yanran, Jia Xingtian, Qing Lin, and Zi Yan all hurried to the main square, their expressions filled with astonishment as they stared up at the massive energy vortex spanning tens of zhang in the heavens. The pressure alone felt divine and suffocating.

Awe was clearly on Jia Xingtian’s aged face, his eyes widened blankly as he muttered in disbelief, ”The Alliance Leader’s strength… it’s breaking through again! To think the Dou Zun Realm could be this terrifying—just one breakthrough gathers more heavenly energy than all my Dou Qi combined.”

Qing Lin’s cool little face lit up with excitement and admiration, her emerald eyes flickering as she refuted, ”That’s not a breakthrough. The records in the Sky Serpent Mansion mention that such natural phenomena only appear when a high-level Qi Method, Dou Technique, or Pill emerges. Judging by this, it must be a Tian Class Qi Method or Dou Technique taking form.”

Yun Yun’s beautiful eyes shimmered with light, her delicate face blooming with pride as she softly said, ”You’re right. Before this, the Alliance Leader gathered all fire attribute Qi Methods from the alliance, saying that his Qi Method had reached it’s limit and needed refinement. It seems he has succeeded.”

Zi Yan, though calm, wore a bright smile. Even though the Ancient Void Dragon Tribe did not lack Tian Class Qi Methods, she was still genuinely happy for Liu Xi. ’Big Brother is always Big Brother… now he’ll advance again. I can’t afford to fall too far behind.’

Meanwhile, on the mountain peak, Liu Xi sat cross-legged, fully operating his newly created Qi Method. Within a radius of a hundred li, all the energy of heaven and earth was drawn toward the massive vortex above, pouring endlessly into his body. With his eyes tightly shut, he absorbed it all, refining the chaotic energies into pure Dou Qi as his aura climbed higher and higher.

The phenomenon over Yunlan Mountain lasted for three full hours. Finally, with a long, resonant cry, the storm of energy dispersed into the sky. Liu Xi opened his eyes, twin azure flames flickering briefly within them before fading. Exhaling a long breath of turbid air, a faint smile curved his lips.

”The new Qi Method is complete! And thanks to this phenomenon, I’ve also broken through to the peak of 6-Star Dou Zun—two blessings in one.”

This new Qi Method was derived from the Nine Nether Ghost Flame Technique, refined through Liu Xi’s deep comprehension of fire and the countless meridian models he had constructed. Normally, a Qi Method capable of summoning such a phenomenon would be of Tian Class, but in truth, it was something more complex.

The rank of this Qi Method could not be clearly defined. It could evolve—though not in the conventional sense. It did not rely on Heavenly Flames but instead on talent. In Liu Xi’s hands, it already exceeded the limits of High Level Di Class, reaching a quasi-Tian Class. Yet if practiced by an ordinary person, its effects might only reach the Xuan Class, perhaps even the Huang Class. That was its lower bound.

As for its upper bound—Liu Xi had no idea. In his hands, it displayed quasi-Tian Class power, but as one’s talent increased, perhaps the technique would evolve alongside it. It was as if the Qi Method itself possessed life, capable of adapting to its user.

It was, in short, a Qi Method meant for geniuses. For most people, it would be nothing more than a tasteless chicken rib.

Liu Xi rubbed his chin and chuckled playfully. ”Isn’t this the classic main character setup? Everyone else treats it as trash, but the protagonist picks it up and turns it into the strongest Qi Method in existence. Interesting… truly interesting. I wonder if, somewhere on this Dou Qi Continent, a lucky soul will inherit my legacy one day.”

The Qi Method’s effect was utterly domineering—pure plunder. Especially regarding fire attribute energy, whatever energy the user absorbed, the technique would forcibly seize and refine. It suited Liu Xi perfectly. With such a method, his future breakthroughs would be far easier.

”Since it evolved from the Nine Nether Ghost Flame Technique, it shall be named the Nine Nether Flame Suppressing Technique. Against all fire-based powers, its suppressive might will be unmatched.”

Standing atop the mountain peak, Liu Xi gazed toward the Chu Yun Empire’s distant horizon and softly murmured, ”Xian’er, matters in the Jia Ma Empire are settled. It’s time I return to the Central Plains. Time waits for no one—I’ll be waiting for you there.”

He then turned toward the direction of the Tager Desert, a small smile tugging at his lips as he recalled the reports he’d received. After returning, Queen Medusa—now known again as Zi Ling—had unified the restless Snake-People and, with her Dou Zong strength, launched conquests that expanded their territory. Perhaps wary of him, she had restrained her tribe from provoking the Jia Ma Empire, focusing instead on conquering lands from the Mu Lan and Luo Yan Empires.

”Well, I promised not to interfere, so I won’t. If fate allows, we’ll meet again someday. The Heavenly Alliance is now on the right path, and with Yun Yun overseeing things, I can rest easy. Still, I should leave her some protection.”

Liu Xi did not descend the mountain but instead summoned Yun Yun to meet him at the rear peak. When Yun Yun received the message, her fair cheeks turned pink, and under the envious eyes of Qing Lin and Zi Yan, she swiftly flew toward the summit.

By the time she arrived, Liu Xi was already working, refining two corpses—both once Dou Zun experts of the Hall of Souls slain during the Pill Gathering. Yun Yun frowned slightly, momentarily misunderstanding what she was seeing.

”What are you doing? Who are these two?” she asked curiously.

”They were Dou Zun from the Hall of Souls,” Liu Xi said evenly. ”I killed them during the Pill Gathering. I’m refining them into a few cards for you to keep.”

With his current strength and flawless Spiritual Power, there was no chance of failure. Over five days of refinement, two gleaming Heavenly Demon Puppets stood before him. He motioned for Yun Yun to drop two drops of her blood onto their foreheads.

Startled by their overwhelming aura, Yun Yun quickly followed his instructions. The instant her blood touched the puppets, she sensed an uncanny link forming between them and herself. ”What are these?” she asked in awe.

Liu Xi smiled. ”Two Dou Zun-level Heavenly Demon Puppets. They’ll serve as your guardians. Keep them hidden until you truly need them—they’ll be your trump card.”

Yun Yun bit her lip, eyes glimmering with emotion. ”This… this is too precious.”

Liu Xi raised an eyebrow. ”You’re still saying things like that between us?”

Her cheeks flushed red as she whispered softly, ”Do you… want it?”

”Of course I do!” Liu Xi’s eyes instantly brightened.

...

The refinement took five full days, and only after another day and night did Liu Xi finally descend the mountain.
