BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

”This is just an extra gift.”

Liu Xi smiled as he spoke, then took out a jade bottle that contained a milky-white pill radiating a faint, otherworldly glow.

”This is the true gift.”

Yun Yun’s gaze was instantly drawn to it. Her eyes remained fixed on the jade bottle without even a blink — even through its surface, she could sense the extraordinary nature of the pill within.

”What kind of pill is this?” she asked curiously.

”An 8th Tier Pill — a Replenishing Origin Pill,” Liu Xi said calmly. ”It can enhance one’s innate talent. Even if someone’s aptitude is mediocre, with it, they could possess the potential to reach the Dou Saint realm.”

”Ah!”

Yun Yun gasped, her delicate hand covering her lips, disbelief flashing in her eyes. She unconsciously stepped back several paces, staring blankly at Liu Xi’s composed face.

For a long moment, she could only breathe unevenly, her chest rising and falling with each breath — a sight both striking and graceful.

”You’re giving this… to me? No, it’s too precious. I can’t accept it!” she said firmly. The fact that it was an 8th Tier Pill had already shocked her, but one that could improve talent — that was beyond imagination.

Such a pill would drive even a Dou Zun mad. She could barely bring herself to accept the sword earlier, but this Replenishing Origin Pill? Yun Yun felt that even if she sold herself, it wouldn’t be enough to repay the value of this gift.

”It is indeed very precious,” Liu Xi said evenly. ”This one even endured Seven-Colored Pill Lightning. If I were to auction it in the Central Plains, half the continent would go mad for it. And right now, this is the only one I’ve made. The main ingredient — Human Origin Fruit — is extremely rare, so you can imagine its value. There are many people I could give it to — my father, mother, younger brother, teacher… and you. But in the end, I chose you.”

”Why?”

The light in Yun Yun’s eyes flickered with a strange brilliance as the words slipped out, her voice softer than ever before.

Liu Xi met her gaze, his voice calm but sincere. ”There are three reasons. First, I like you. Second, the Jia Ma Empire needs a Dou Zun as soon as possible. And third, if I can refine the first one, I can refine the second and the third. All of this is just a matter of time.”

His words were rational, but that first reason alone made Yun Yun’s composure crumble. Her cheeks flushed crimson, and her eyes trembled with confusion and emotion.

”I… I’m afraid I won’t be able to repay such kindness,” she finally whispered.

Liu Xi stepped forward and pulled her gently into his arms — no teasing this time, just a quiet, genuine embrace.

”What is there to repay? You’re willing to accept a man like me, who isn’t exactly faithful, yet you refuse a gift I give from the heart? Besides, if you wish to take revenge, you’ll need this power. So, will you accept it now?”

Warmth welled in Yun Yun’s chest. Her body, stiff at first, gradually softened. Her jade-like arms rose and circled Liu Xi’s waist as she buried her face against his chest.

”…Thank you.”

On the cliff, the two stood locked in a long embrace, unmoving for a long time.

”Yun’er,” Liu Xi said softly, releasing her, ”now’s the best time to absorb the Replenishing Origin Pill. I’ll protect you myself.”

”So soon?” Yun Yun murmured dreamily, still dazed from his embrace, her eyes slightly unfocused.

”With your current strength, you might not be able to control it — it could escape before you even start refining it,” Liu Xi chuckled. The higher the pill’s grade, the stronger its sentience; if it sensed Yun Yun’s cultivation was insufficient, it might really try to flee.

Yun Yun frowned slightly, but knowing he was right, she nodded. ”Alright. Come with me — to my room.”

The words slipped out before she realized how intimate they sounded. Her cheeks turned pink, but she didn’t take them back. ’If it’s him,’ she thought, ’then it’s fine.’

”Alright, let’s go,” Liu Xi said with a grin.

Yun Yun led the way, her face faintly red as her graceful steps carried her ahead, while Liu Xi followed with a faint smile.

Her residence lay deep within the back mountain — a quiet, secluded courtyard she rarely shared with anyone except her disciple Nalan Yanran.

With a soft creak, Yun Yun pushed open the door and stepped inside. Liu Xi followed close behind.

The room was simply decorated — elegant, clean, and devoid of unnecessary luxury. It was the abode of someone wholly devoted to cultivation.

Liu Xi retrieved the jade bottle and pulled out the stopper. Instantly, the surrounding energy grew restless, and a powerful medicinal aura filled the air.

The rich fragrance spread through the room. Yun Yun inhaled slightly and was startled — the barrier to her 7-Star Dou Zong realm trembled faintly, as if it were loosening. The strength of this pill was astounding.

The Replenishing Origin Pill shimmered with holy light, floating out of the jade bottle. Mist gathered around it, and within moments, it transformed into the shape of a white tiger before attempting to bolt.

Liu Xi merely lifted his hand, and an invisible wave of spatial power spread out. The escaping pill froze midair as if trapped in ice.

Beside him, Yun Yun’s lips parted in astonishment. Never had she seen a pill this alive — one that could take form and flee like a living creature.

Liu Xi flicked his wrist lightly, shattering the white tiger’s form into mist again. ”Eat it.”

Yun Yun hesitated, still shocked. ”Is this really a pill? It feels… alive, like a living being.”

”That’s the difference between high-tier and low-tier pills,” Liu Xi explained. ”A low-tier pill is dead matter — a dead pill. A high-tier pill, on the other hand, is alive. That’s why its medicinal strength is so terrifying.”

Yun Yun looked deeply at him, her heart stirred. To gift such a treasure so casually — how could she not be moved?

She caught the hovering pill, feeling the pulse of immense energy and vibrant life within. Then, without hesitation, she swallowed it and immediately formed her hand seals, entering a state of cultivation as her Qi Method circulated to refine the pill’s power.

Liu Xi stood by her side, hands clasped behind his back, his Spiritual Power surrounding her body to monitor her condition at all times.

A faint white radiance soon burst from Yun Yun’s delicate figure, bathing her in a sacred light that lent her an aura of serene holiness.

Under that glow, wisps of gray mist drifted out from her skin — the impurities within her body — before fading into nothingness.

Liu Xi couldn’t see exactly what transformations were occurring within her, but the peaceful look on Yun Yun’s radiant face told him everything he needed to know. The process was painless, and the energy, though vast, was gentle and pure.

Her aura began to change — subtly but profoundly — evolving toward something higher, purer, more perfect.

The Replenishing Origin Pill truly lived up to its name: a postnatal medicine that replenished one’s innate foundation. A pill worthy of its legend.
