BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!

Nine bolts of Pill Lightning crashed down in succession, each one striking the Earth Demon Puppet head-on. Lightning coiled around its body like serpents, until it stood amidst the storm like a god born of thunder.

Hovering in the air, the puppet’s dull, dark surface glowed anew beneath the relentless tempering. The faint traces of black and green that once marred its body vanished completely, leaving behind a sleek silver sheen that gleamed under the light. Its aura surged—pure, domineering, and alive with power.

Above the valley, the thunderclouds churned for a moment longer before beginning to thin. A final pair of low rumbles echoed through the sky—then the oppressive clouds dispersed unwillingly, sunlight spilling once again over the mountains.

With a flash of silver light, the Earth Demon Puppet descended, landing beside Liu Xi like a loyal guardian returning from battle.

Liu Xi rose slowly, ignoring the puppet for the moment. He raised his hand, fingers curling into a claw, and summoned a powerful suction force from his palm.

The crimson pill floating in the air—still radiating a thick medicinal fragrance—was drawn instantly into his grasp.

The moment it touched his skin, Liu Xi felt it pulse like a beating heart. Its surface glowed with faint blood-red light, rippling with surging life force.

He smiled faintly. ”As expected of a pill capable of restoring flesh and bone to the dead. Such condensed vitality—it’s no wonder it can bring even corpses back to life.”

He stored the pill carefully, then turned his gaze to the Earth Demon Puppet once more. Its body gleamed like polished silver, utterly emotionless, yet the oppressive strength radiating from it was unmistakable.

Liu Xi chuckled. ”Even a peak Dou Zong would be in trouble if they took a punch from that.”

---

A soft wind brushed past as Xiao Yixian and Zi Yan descended nearby, though their attention fell on entirely different things.

Xiao Yixian’s bright eyes lingered on the Earth Demon Puppet, surprise glimmering within. ”No wonder you didn’t let me block the Pill Lightning for you, Young Master. That puppet can actually grow stronger by being struck with thunder?”

Liu Xi nodded, a pleased grin tugging at the corner of his mouth. ”Exactly. That’s the brilliance of the Heavenly Puppet Technique—it strengthens through lightning refinement. With enough thunder tempering, it may one day evolve into a true Heavenly Demon Puppet, capable of Dou Zun-level combat.”

Xiao Yixian’s eyes widened slightly. Even though she had ascended to Dou Zun herself, she understood what that meant. Across all of Central Plains, there were only a few dozen known Dou Zuns—each a towering existence in their own right.

Zi Yan, however, wasn’t listening. Her gaze had locked on the pill in Liu Xi’s hand, eyes gleaming with hunger. Saliva glistened at the corner of her mouth.

As the pill vanished from sight, she blinked and looked up in panic—only to meet Liu Xi’s helpless expression.

Zi Yan laughed awkwardly, scratching the back of her head. ”Hehe… Big Brother~”

Liu Xi raised his right hand, showing the pill still resting safely in his palm. ”You almost drooled on it, you little glutton.” He shook his head, amused. ”This isn’t for you. But… since we have it, we might as well strike while the iron’s hot—let’s restore Elder Yao’s body today.”

---

A glimmer flashed at Liu Xi’s fingertips. His white storage ring pulsed, and a misty light flowed forth, condensing into the familiar silhouette of Yao Tianhuo. The old man’s fiery features were alight with excitement.

”Young friend, words cannot express my gratitude,” Yao Tianhuo said solemnly. ”This old man will remember your kindness forever.”

Liu Xi waved his hand with a smile. ”Elder Yao, there’s no need for such formality.”

He turned to Xiao Yixian and Zi Yan. ”You two, wait aside for now. This won’t take long.”

”Understood, Young Master,” Xiao Yixian said gently, taking Zi Yan’s hand and pulling her away—though the little girl still craned her neck, eyes glued to the pill in Liu Xi’s hand.

---

Liu Xi flicked his wrist, tossing the crimson pill toward Yao Tianhuo. ”Take it. Then give me a wisp of your Spiritual Power. When I tell you to enter, do not hesitate for even an instant.”

Yao Tianhuo caught the pill and swallowed it in one motion. His expression hardened. ”Understood!”

He pressed his fingers to his brow, pulling free a thin thread of glowing soul essence. The strand drifted toward Liu Xi.

Without delay, Liu Xi stored away the Ten Thousand Beast Cauldron, then drew out the preserved corpse of Tian She. The massive body hovered before him as he guided the thread of soul essence into it.

He had long since mastered the process of refining vessels. From his storage ring, he took out a jade vial filled with thick, violet-red liquid—blood that radiated violent, surging energy.

”The essence of the Sky Poison Dragon Scorpion Beast,” Liu Xi murmured.

He clenched his hand, and the vial shattered. The blood spilled forth and spread across the suspended corpse.

The moment it touched flesh, it sizzled—hissss—the skin corroding rapidly under the potent venom and energy.

Liu Xi summoned the Green Lotus Core Flame. The azure fire surged up, enveloping the corpse. Under the burning heat, the toxic blood began to seep into the flesh instead of destroying it.

The once-dead tissue started to twitch. The rotting flesh regenerated with each flicker of flame, growing vibrant and red.

Half an hour later, Tian She’s tightly shut eyes snapped open. A faint trace of life stirred within their hollow depths—though that vitality belonged not to Tian She, but to the wisp of Yao Tianhuo’s soul.

”Elder Yao—now!” Liu Xi shouted.

Yao Tianhuo’s figure tensed. He shot forward like lightning, plunging into the blazing flame and straight into the corpse.

The instant his soul touched the body, dark-red ripples burst from between his brows, spreading like waves across his entire form.

Puff!

His Spiritual Power merged perfectly with the vessel. Instead of being rejected, his soul began to fuse with the flesh.

At once, the corpse shone crimson. Under the power of the Bone Growing Blood Fusing Pill, flesh and muscle regrew rapidly, knitting into a new form—Yao Tianhuo’s form.

”Hold on, Elder Yao!” Liu Xi called out, voice firm. ”Now you must seize full control of the body under the burning of the Heavenly Flame. Only then can you truly be reborn!”

He waved his hand, and the azure flames flared higher, reducing the freshly formed flesh to ashes again.

Yet within the crimson aura, new tissue regrew faster than before. Each cycle of burning and regeneration brought the soul and body into closer harmony.

Two days passed.

By the end, the corpse had transformed completely—its form now identical to Yao Tianhuo’s. The dull gray skin was replaced with healthy color, and from within that body pulsed a deep, overwhelming presence.

Liu Xi could feel it even from where he stood—a pressure that made breathing difficult.

---

Suddenly, a booming laugh exploded through the valley like a thunderclap.

”Hahaha! My friend, you’ve truly made it hard for me to find you!”

Liu Xi froze. ”A Dou Zun? Where did that come from?”

He turned quickly toward Xiao Yixian and shouted, ”Xian’er! Elder Yao still needs time to adapt to his new body—go find out who it is!”

”Understood!”

With that, Xiao Yixian’s figure flickered and vanished into the sky like a streak of white light.
