BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

Within a single day — Jia Nan Academy’s enforcement squad struck swiftly, annihilating the Blood Sect.

Before the news could even spread, they launched another assault. By nightfall, the Eight Gates had also been wiped out.

The Academy’s speed of retaliation and ruthlessness left the entire Black-Corner Region trembling. Two of its oldest and strongest factions had vanished overnight.

Feng City

In the bamboo pavilion where Han Feng once resided, tranquility had been replaced by the scent of wine and music.

Eight dancers dressed in sheer silk — their snow-white skin faintly visible — swayed gracefully to the sound of flutes and strings.

A gold-robed elder lounged lazily on a soft couch, his robe half-open, holding a crystal-clear jade cup of fine liquor. A lovely maid stood beside him, refilling his drink as laughter filled the air.

When the cup brimmed, the golden-robed elder raised it and downed it in one gulp. ”Good wine!” he exclaimed with a hearty laugh.

At that moment, the bamboo door slid open, and a silver-robed elder stepped inside. His brows furrowed at the sight, and his voice turned cold. ”Enough! Get out!”

The musicians and dancers fled in fright.

The gold-robed elder sat upright and chuckled. ”Second Brother, why the temper? Come, drink with me!”

The silver-robed elder sighed and stepped closer. ”Brother, do you still have the mood to drink? The latest news says the Blood Sect and Eight Gates are destroyed! Fan Lao and Yuan Yi — both Dou Huangs — are dead! We’ve lost two pillars of the Black Alliance overnight!”

The gold-robed elder merely waved his hand, unbothered. ”Didn’t we try to save them? But Su Qian stopped us before we could even leave the city. Besides…”

He staggered to his feet, draping an arm around his brother’s shoulders.

”Those fools never truly submitted to us. They gave us the title of ’Alliance Leaders’ only so we’d take the hits for them. If they’d really meant to unite, they would’ve brought their forces and resources to Feng City. Then we could’ve forged a single great power — even Jia Nan Academy would’ve had to think twice before crossing us.”

The silver-robed elder’s expression twisted with frustration. ”I know you’re right, Big Brother… but I still can’t swallow this. Such a vast alliance, and now it’s gone to waste…”

”Enough.” The gold-robed elder interrupted, his voice suddenly firm. ”As long as we brothers stand together, we’re still the Gold and Silver Brothers — the most feared names in the Black-Corner Region! Even Su Qian can’t touch us. Our strength is all that matters!”

The silver-robed elder trembled slightly, then laughed bitterly. ”You’re right, Brother. I lost sight of that for a moment. Power — only our own power — is real.”

”Hahaha! That’s the spirit!”

The golden-robed elder pulled him toward the couch. ”Now come, drink with me. Once this alliance falls apart, we’ll lay low for a while. We’ve cultivated for half our lives — still no sign of a Zong Breaking Pill, and becoming a Dou Zong is a distant dream. We might as well enjoy ourselves while we can!”

He turned to the maid. ”Bring more wine!” Then, raising his cup toward the musicians who still lingered by the door, he laughed wildly. ”Play on! Dance!”

---

Su Qian had appeared only once outside Feng City — just long enough to block the Gold and Silver Brothers from leaving. After that encounter, they never tried again. Even for the two of them, holding off a Dou Zong was already pushing their limits.

With their silent permission — or perhaps deliberate indifference — the purge continued.

Following the Blood Sect and the Eight Gates, the Earth Flame Sect, the Black Fiend Gate, and Demon Cloud City were all successively destroyed by Jia Nan Academy.

The so-called Black Alliance had always been a brittle creation. When Han Feng lived, his prestige as a 6th Tier Alchemist and his status as ”Medicine Emperor” barely kept those arrogant factions together.

But after Liu Xi slew Han Feng within the Academy, the alliance was little more than an empty shell. Its leaders — each a tyrant in their own right — never truly trusted one another. The Gold and Silver Brothers were ”Alliance Masters” in name only, presiding over a group that was doomed from the start.

No one expected the storm named Liu Xi.

A Dou Wang in cultivation, yet master of a Heavenly Flame. A 6th Tier Alchemist who could battle Dou Huangs and slay them with ease. He personally killed Fan Lao and Yuan Yi, toppling their sects in a single day.

Word spread fast across the region, and even rumors that Han Feng himself had fallen to Liu Xi’s hand began circulating.

The Black-Corner Region trembled.

Many began referring to Liu Xi by a new title — the New Medicine Emperor.

---

A month after Han Feng’s assault on Jia Nan Academy, the so-called Black Alliance was finished. Only Feng City remained under the Gold and Silver Brothers’ control.

Under Su Qian’s lead, Qin Xuan, Hu Qian, Liu Xi, Zi Yan, and seven Dou Wang Elders traveled light and fast toward Feng City.

When they arrived, the brothers were nowhere to be found.

As Su Qian and Liu Xi walked side by side through the bamboo grove, Su Qian chuckled.

”Those two slippery old foxes really do live up to their reputation. Still, the Black Alliance is finished — and we owe much of that to you, Liu Xi.”

Liu Xi smiled faintly. ”Just doing what I should. Besides, didn’t you promise I’d get first pick of the spoils?”

Su Qian laughed. ”And you shall. You’ve earned it. A shame about Feng City, though. It’s one of the largest cities in the Black-Corner Region, but the Academy can’t afford to govern it directly.”

He glanced around at the quiet streets and continued, ”After this, the Academy will withdraw. We’ve been too aggressive lately. Our purges have shaken the entire Black-Corner Region — even the true overlords are growing uneasy. The Academy doesn’t want to provoke them further.”

Liu Xi’s eyes glimmered. ”Then I won’t be returning just yet. There are still treasures I want to find. Let Zi Yan come with me.”

Su Qian hesitated for only a moment before nodding. ”Very well. Han Feng is gone. With your status as a 6th Tier Alchemist, even the madmen of the Black-Corner Region wouldn’t dare touch you. And your current strength… I’m not worried.”

Liu Xi shook his head slightly. ”I’ll be traveling in secret. I don’t want anyone knowing I’m still in the region. Tell the others I’ve gone back to the Inner Academy for seclusion.”

Su Qian paused, then turned his gaze toward Liu Xi, his expression meaningful. ”Don’t go anywhere too dangerous.”

Liu Xi smiled. ”I understand.”

Indeed — Su Qian had likely guessed what he intended.
