BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

”Big Brother, I was wrong!”

Zi Yan immediately admitted her fault, her small face tense and serious as she patted her chest. In a tone as solemn as a soldier going to execution, she declared, ”Big Brother, I, Zi Yan, take full responsibility! If you want to scold or punish me, I’ll accept it without complaint!”

After saying that, she shut her eyes tight, tucked in her neck, and stood stiffly in place as if bracing for a beating.

Liu Xi couldn’t help but laugh at the sight. He walked over, lifted his hand, and gently rubbed her head a few times.

”Just a few holes in the roof,” he said with a smile. ”Why would I hit or scold you? I just wanted to know what caused it.”

Zi Yan peeked one eye open, voice bright with surprise. ”So you’re not angry, Big Brother? As for the reason, I really don’t know... I just used a bit of strength, and suddenly it happened!”

’A pity I couldn’t stay in bed with Xian’er a little longer,’ Liu Xi thought with quiet amusement, though his expression remained calm. He said, ”I’m not angry. When you threw that punch earlier, I sensed a ripple of spatial distortion. You may have awakened a spatial-type innate talent.”

Zi Yan blinked, then giggled proudly. ”Ohhh... that explains why every time I sneak into the treasure vault to take herbs, that invisible barrier outside never stops me!”

Liu Xi chuckled. ”That’s exactly your gift at work. It’s likely connected to the Earth Core Body Tempering Milk you drank. Remember that white ape? It awakened its berserk talent because of the diluted version of the same essence. You too — the Earth Core Body Tempering Milk helped draw out your dormant spatial affinity. To manipulate spatial force before even reaching the Dou Zong realm... Zi Yan, that’s remarkable.”

Zi Yan’s violet eyes sparkled with pride. ”So it’s because of that delicious milk! Hehe, then from now on, Zi Yan will protect Big Brother!”

Liu Xi grinned. ”Ah, so you’ve finally learned what it means to be an excellent little sister who looks after her Big Brother.”

Zi Yan puffed out her chest proudly, clearly pleased with the praise.

Liu Xi, amused, took out the bundle of rare herbs Zi Yan had gifted him earlier. Adding a few more of his own, he refined several bottles of fresh pills for her right on the spot.

He made sure she saw it clearly — follow your Big Brother, and there’s always candy to eat.

As Zi Yan happily skipped away, Liu Xi watched her departing figure with a faint smile. ”That girl is easy to please... Still, this Earth Core Body Tempering Milk is truly extraordinary — it actually awakened her spatial power ahead of time. Speaking of which, I still have half a bottle left...”

Back in Xiao Yixian’s Room

Liu Xi stepped inside and saw Xiao Yixian quietly tidying the bedding. Her movements were light, her demeanor serene.

”Why not rest a bit longer?” he asked, smiling gently.

Folding the sheets neatly and placing them into her storage ring, Xiao Yixian turned toward him, eyes tender with affection and just a hint of teasing. ”How could I rest all day? You said yesterday that I’ve already been reborn — I wanted to test my new strength.”

Liu Xi chuckled softly, recalling a certain ”chicken-rib” trinket he once obtained. ”Speaking of cultivation, I have a gift for you.”

Her eyes lit up immediately. ”A gift? What is it?”

Without answering, Liu Xi extended his right hand. Within his body, the Heavenly Flame — the Green Lotus Core Flame — surged forth, the same flame he once used to purge Nalan Jie’s body of its toxins.

The cyan flame slithered through his meridians, emerging into his palm. Instantly, his fair skin turned pitch-black, threads of dark mist seeping outward like ghostly vapor. The sight was eerie, even unsettling.

Xiao Yixian’s pupils contracted. ”That...?”

In the depths of her Woeful Poison Body, a primal hunger stirred. Her body moved of its own accord; she took a few quick steps forward, her tongue brushing across her lips as her gaze fixed on Liu Xi’s blackened palm.

”It smells... delicious,” she whispered softly. ”Young Master, is that... some kind of deadly poison?”

Liu Xi nodded slightly. ”It’s a brand poison — Searing Poison.”

”Searing Poison?!” Xiao Yixian gasped. ”That’s the life poison of the 5th Rank beast, the Branding Iron Venom Python! The Seven Colored Poison Scripture says even a 6th Rank magical beast could fall victim to it. How did you end up contaminated by something that dangerous?”

Seeing her so worried made Liu Xi’s heart soften. He smiled faintly. ”Don’t fret. It’s been in me for a long time. I’m still fine, aren’t I? It all began when I helped a Dou Wang detoxify himself with my Heavenly Flame. But the Searing Poison fused with his Dou Qi and mutated, becoming even harder to destroy. It eventually merged with my flame — but it doesn’t harm me.”

Xiao Yixian’s anxious expression slowly eased. ”So... this is the gift you meant to give me?”

”That’s right. It’s not just the toxin. It also contains that Dou Wang’s refined Dou Qi. I didn’t dare let you absorb it before — your body couldn’t handle it. But now... after your transformation, you can.”

He paused briefly, his brows furrowing slightly. ”The problem is, this thing clings like bone-deep rot. It’s stubborn. Even though it doesn’t threaten me, separating it from the flame won’t be easy.”

Xiao Yixian’s brows knit in thought. ”The Searing Poison is fiercely domineering — there’s no medicine in the world that can neutralize it. The simplest way is to devour it using an even more powerful poison. But since it’s entrenched in your Heavenly Flame... the only way to extract it would be...”

Her eyes suddenly lit with an idea. ”...Swallowing it directly!”

She looked at him intently. ”Young Master, try concentrating the Searing Poison to one point first.”

”That’s easy enough,” Liu Xi replied.

At once, he urged his Heavenly Flame to reject the poison completely. His palm glowed faintly beneath the black surface, tendrils of dark gas rising like ink smoke, writhing yet refusing to detach.

”Xian’er, what are you going to do?”

Before he could finish, Xiao Yixian blushed — and then leaned forward, parting her lips to take Liu Xi’s middle finger gently into her mouth.

”Xian’er...?” Liu Xi stared in astonishment. Her soft lips were warm and moist — he twitched his finger slightly, teasing, ”Xian’er, are you trying to seduce me right now?”

Her cheeks flushed deeper, but her eyes shot him a fierce glare.

A moment later, a powerful suction force drew from her mouth. The black energy covering Liu Xi’s hand surged violently, as if encountering its natural predator. The darkness receded rapidly, streaming toward his finger. The pale skin beneath emerged once again, clear and unblemished.

The poison gathered at his fingertip, condensing into droplets of black liquid that seeped from his skin — each one swallowed whole by Xiao Yixian. Wisps of dark miasma began creeping faintly across her cheeks.

When the final trace of the Searing Poison left his body, she released his hand. Her eyes met his one last time before her lashes fluttered — and she collapsed, unconscious.

”Xian’er!”

Liu Xi caught her quickly, alarm flashing in his eyes. He sensed a faint poisonous energy trying to invade his body and immediately summoned the Heavenly Flame for protection.

Laying her gently on the bed, he straightened, murmuring in awe, ”Xian’er... to think you’d use such a method to draw the toxin out of me. Truly, only someone with the Woeful Poison Body could use such a terrifying way to cleanse poison.”
