BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

Above the skies of the Jia Nan Inner Academy—Violent waves of energy and surging wind currents clashed endlessly, streaks of Dou Qi light coloring the heavens. Fist shadows, blade gleams, and spear lights collided in midair, each impact echoing like thunder.

At the center of this chaos, the most terrifying battlefield belonged to Liu Xi and Han Feng. Both stood upon their own seas of Heavenly Flame, commanding the infernos like generals on opposing sides of a blazing war.

Standing within his emerald sea of fire, Liu Xi’s expression was calm and focused. From the rolling flames beneath him, one after another, enormous beasts formed from azure fire rose with deafening roars, charging toward the enemy.

Across the sky, Han Feng’s hands pressed down into the void. The deep-blue ocean of flame beneath him surged violently, and upon the cresting waves, towering figures took shape—hulking warriors, their bodies wreathed in the Sea Heart Flame, brandishing blazing blades like spectral war gods.

Claws met blades, fangs met steel. Each impact sent rings of scorching energy rippling outward, distorting the air itself.

After a brief exchange, the spectral warriors cut through the flame beasts’ claws, leaving deep gashes across their bodies. One by one, Liu Xi’s beasts faltered, forced backward under the relentless assault.

Seeing this, Liu Xi’s face darkened. Gritting his teeth, he muttered, ”So this is the gap of an entire realm… The strength of my Heavenly Flame still falls short. But as long as I can stall him…”

Han Feng’s grin widened. Driving the Sea Heart Flame forward, he pressed his advantage, flames surging like a tidal wave. ”Liu Xi! Today, no one can save you!”

Even as the oppressive heat of Han Feng’s flames swept toward him, Liu Xi’s expression remained cold. ”You’re celebrating too soon.”

Nine Nether Ghost Flame Technique—Activate!

A faint blue radiance shrouded the surface of the emerald fire. The surrounding heat of the world was drawn in, feeding the Green Lotus Core Flame until even the Sea Heart Flame’s scorching power was partially absorbed.

The azure fire deepened in hue, gaining a strange density. Liu Xi exhaled slowly, eyes gleaming as the rejuvenated flame beasts roared once more, their aura no weaker than Han Feng’s ocean of fire.

”What!” Han Feng’s eyes widened in disbelief. His Sea Heart Flame ranked 15th on the Heavenly Flame Ranking—yet it was being held at bay by Liu Xi’s 19th-ranked Green Lotus Core Flame!

He glared at the calm-faced Liu Xi, his irritation mounting. ”Impressive. I underestimated you. But you have a fatal flaw…”

With a step, Han Feng’s figure blurred—his Dou Qi surged in a strange wave as his body vanished from sight.

”...You’re still just a Dou Wang!”

In the blink of an eye, he appeared right before Liu Xi, killing intent surging like a blade’s edge.

Liu Xi reacted instantly, stepping back as he raised a hand. The sea of azure fire before him erupted, forming a massive wave like a towering wall.

Sea-Cleaving Dragon Strike!

A sharp sound split the air. The fiery ”wall” before Liu Xi cracked from top to bottom—then exploded in a storm of flame.

From the blaze stepped Han Feng, a massive halberd of dark-blue fire forming in his grasp. The weapon was coiled by a dragon of pure flame, its roar echoing faintly through the sky.

Han Feng hurled the halberd like a javelin, faster than lightning. It pierced through Liu Xi’s chest—

Only for his body to shatter into fragments of light.

”What—?” Han Feng’s triumphant grin froze. Frowning, he unleashed his Spiritual Perception to scan the area.

”Heaven Flame Palm!”

He suddenly spun, thrusting a palm toward the void behind him.

”Blazing Palm!”

A cold voice echoed as Liu Xi’s true form appeared, his own palm striking forward.

Boom!

The impact resounded like a thunderclap. Liu Xi was sent flying backward, his body spinning through the air before stabilizing dozens of meters away.

His right arm trembled violently, the sleeve burnt to ash. His face was pale, blood welling at the corner of his lips.

”Cough… so you saw through my trick. Annoying thing about high-ranked alchemists—they see everything…”

Suppressing his churning blood, Liu Xi guided the Green Lotus Core Flame through his arm, forcing out the invading Sea Heart Flame. Only then did he breathe out steadily again.

Han Feng sneered. ”You’ve got a few tricks, but a Dou Wang is still a Dou Wang. You’ll never overcome that gap.”

Liu Xi smirked faintly. ”You talk too much. Tell me, how does my Green Lotus Core Flame taste?”

Han Feng’s smile faded into a killing glare. ”No matter what you say… you’ll die today!”

With that, his aura exploded once more, his body becoming a blue streak as he charged straight at Liu Xi.

”Liu Xi!”

From afar, Su Qian slammed both palms forward, forcing the Gold and Silver Brothers back several steps. His eyes darted toward Liu Xi—and his face changed.

The other Inner Academy Elders were all entangled in brutal duels, two or even three Dou Wangs struggling against each enemy Dou Huang. No one could come to Liu Xi’s aid in time.

”Heh… Grand Elder Su Qian dares to split his focus? You underestimate us brothers.” The gold-robed old man sneered, his eyes glinting. ”That brat’s dead already. Such a waste… a 6th Tier Alchemist at his age, tsk tsk…”

Su Qian’s gaze turned icy. ”Then I’ll kill you two first, and then Han Feng!”

He lunged back into battle, every strike ruthless and blazing with fury.

Meanwhile, Liu Xi exhaled softly. Azure flames coiled around him like serpents, his eyes reflecting their wild light.

’Without the Heavenly Flame, I’m nothing more than a common Dou Wang… unable to cross realms, unable to protect anyone. What would I have left then…?’

”Pill Flame Technique—Serpent Form!”

The flames before him twisted violently, shaping into a massive serpent that lunged forward, fangs bared toward Han Feng.

’If this keeps up, I’ll lose in close combat… Vice-Dean Hu Qian, where are you…’

Suddenly—

A clear, youthful cry rang out.

”Big Brother! Are you okay?!”

A violet streak shot across the night sky and stopped abruptly in front of Liu Xi. Zi Yan hovered there, her back to him, her small form standing defiantly between him and Han Feng.

”Big Brother, I’m sorry I’m late! I’ll protect you now!”

”Zi Yan, that man’s a Dou Huang,” Liu Xi warned, relief and concern flickering in his tone. ”We’ll focus on keeping him busy—don’t fight him head-on!”

A faint grin tugged at his lips nonetheless. Who would imagine a Dou Wang girl who can wield spatial power?

”You big bully!” Zi Yan crossed her arms, pouting fiercely. ”You hurt my big brother, invaded my territory, and you think you can walk away? Hmph! I’ll send you flying!”

Han Feng shattered the flaming serpent with a sweep of his arm, scoffing, ”So, another helper? No matter… you’ll—”

He didn’t finish.

A blur of purple flashed—then a thunderous crack echoed across the sky.

Han Feng’s body shot backward like a cannonball, a streak of blood spraying from his lips.

Zi Yan floated where she’d been, her tiny fist still extended, golden light fading from her knuckles.

Han Feng wiped the blood from his mouth, eyes wide in shock. ”You… Spatial Power?!”
