BTTH: Rebirth of Liu Xi

”Master Han!”

”Elder Liu!”

The entire battlefield froze in shock. Both the Inner Academy elders and the experts from the Black-Corner Region stared wide-eyed.

In the midst of their fierce battle, Han Feng and Liu Xi—locked in combat—had been swallowed whole by the Fallen Heart Flame when it seized a brief moment to breathe.

For a second, no one knew what to do.

”Elder Gold, Elder Silver, what do we do now?”

The Gold and Silver Brothers exchanged glances, both faces dark. They had come here to provoke Su Qian for the sake of a Zong Breaking Pill. Yet before even seeing the pill, Han Feng was gone!

”What else can we do? Fight with everything we’ve got and get him back!” the gold-robed elder barked, frustration twisting his face. If Han Feng really died, they would lose their biggest backer—and all their efforts would be wasted.

At the same time, the Inner Academy elders were filled with grief and fury.

”Grand Elder! Elder Liu’s cultivation is only at the Dou Wang level. In a clash of three Heavenly Flames, he’s completely at a disadvantage! We have to save him quickly!”

Su Qian’s face was deathly pale. The Inner Academy was already engulfed in fire, the seal under the Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower had been shattered, and now even Liu Xi had vanished.

A trace of bloodthirst flickered in his eyes as his killing intent surged. After a few heavy breaths, he gritted his teeth and said coldly, ”Drive them out first! Elder Liu has sacrificed too much for the Inner Academy. No matter the cost, we will bring him back!”

A chorus of battle cries rose as powerful auras erupted, surging toward the heavens. Energy waves rippled across the skies as both sides clashed again.

Without Han Feng’s command, the Black-Corner Region’s forces began to fall behind.

---

Meanwhile, deep beneath the Blazing Sky Qi Refining Tower—

The enormous, invisible serpent of flame streaked through the air with unnatural speed, diving straight into the crimson magma sea below.

”A-choo!”

A moment later, two figures were spat out violently from its maw—Liu Xi and Han Feng.

They spun through the air before finally steadying themselves above the bubbling magma.

Liu Xi instantly recognized where they were. Shaking off the dizziness, he looked toward Han Feng, who was scanning the area warily, and smiled faintly.

”Han Feng, this is the birthplace of the Fallen Heart Flame,” he said softly. ”A fitting place for your grave.”

Han Feng’s expression darkened. His gaze swept over the vast serpent’s blazing form, and though he forced a laugh, his voice trembled.

”Liu Xi, you understand how dangerous this place is. A wise man doesn’t stand beneath a collapsing wall. You really want to die together with me? We should work together and get out of here first, or both of us will be refined to ashes by the Fallen Heart Flame!”

”Heh… still can’t see it?” Liu Xi’s lips curved coldly. ”The only one dying here… is you.”

The massive serpent coiled protectively around Liu Xi, its huge body spiraling upward. Its sinister head hung above him like a guardian, while those triangular pupils fixed on Han Feng with deadly ferocity.

Han Feng’s face paled. His trembling finger pointed at Liu Xi. ”Impossible! A wild Heavenly Flame… obeying someone?!”

Liu Xi’s gaze turned glacial. ”You won’t live long enough to find out. Kill him.”

The last command was directed at the serpent.

”Hisss—!”

The Fallen Heart Flame reared up, its gaping jaws sucking in energy from the magma sea. Then, with a thunderous roar, it spewed forth a massive torrent of invisible fire.

Han Feng’s expression hardened. He knew too well how terrifying that beam was. With a flick of his sleeves, deep-blue flames surged from his body, condensing above him into a vast barrier of flame like a sea of blue waves.

”Ha!”

Forming seals with both hands, Han Feng thrust his palms upward.

The sea of blue fire surged high, layer upon layer, colliding violently with the invisible torrent.

Energy ripples burst outward, shaking the entire magma world. Waves of molten rock erupted, splashing across the crimson sea.

Liu Xi summoned the Green Lotus Core Flame, forming a suit of azure flame armor around his body to withstand the suffocating heat.

’This power… it’s easily at the Dou Zong level. If not for my Soul Dominion Technique, I wouldn’t even be able to escape from this one man and one flame…’

”Pff!”

Han Feng spat out a mouthful of blood, his face contorted with strain. Against the Fallen Heart Flame, he was completely overpowered.

He roared, flinging his sleeve again. More of his Sea Heart Flame poured forth, merging with the blue barrier above him. The thinning wall thickened once more, and at last, the torrent weakened and subsided.

For a fleeting moment, Han Feng exhaled in relief.

Then—

The serpent’s shadow loomed overhead. Its massive tail swung down with mountain-crushing force, slamming into the blue barrier.

Boom!

The barrier shattered instantly. The tail smashed straight into Han Feng’s chest.

”Urgh!”

Another spray of blood burst from his mouth. His eyes widened as his body plummeted helplessly toward the magma below.

He clenched his teeth, forcing himself to stop just above the molten surface. But before he could take another breath, the serpent dove again. Its fangs pierced through his body and dragged him into the lava.

After a long silence, the serpent slowly rose again, holding Han Feng’s charred corpse in its jaws.

Liu Xi stared down. Beneath the serpent’s teeth lay a blackened, unrecognizable corpse—Han Feng, burned beyond saving.

It glided toward Liu Xi and dropped the body before him.

”Still pretending to be dead?”

Liu Xi smirked, flapping his green wings as he floated closer. Reaching out, he pressed his hand against Han Feng’s scorched face.

”Come out.”

A surge of Spiritual Power flowed from between Liu Xi’s brows, wrapping around the corpse.

This was Soul Dominion. Originally inspired by the Fallen Heart Flame’s ability to summon and burn souls at will, Liu Xi had refined it into his own soul technique.

He had succeeded. By drawing his Spiritual Power into threads and weaving them into a net, he could shatter and capture the consciousness fragments of a soul. When those fragments reformed, they would remain trapped, allowing him to command the soul’s body even if he couldn’t alter its will.

The only flaw—if the spirit left his range, the threads would lose their power and dissolve.

Now, faint motes of light flickered over Han Feng’s corpse. A translucent figure—his soul—rose slowly from the body, suspended in the air.

Its eyes were filled with horror. Even after death, Han Feng had become a slave.
