Ghost Catching System

Chapter 59: Chapter 59 Hurry Up and Run, Don’t Look Back_1

This was a small villa. Yi Qinglian lived alone in the large house. She wasn’t from Anli City; this was a temporary residence for her. It was evident that this celebrity’s independence was very strong.

Chu Hao said, ”Take off your top.”

Yi Qinglian, feeling embarrassed, bit her lip and asked him to turn around.

A moment later, Yi Qinglian’s weak voice came, ”I’m ready.”

Chu Hao turned around, his mouth dry and his tongue parched. Yi Qinglian had her back to them, her smooth skin as white as silk, holding herself tightly, afraid of being seen.

Mu Yufei clicked her tongue and said, ”Qinglian, your back is really pretty. Ah-Hao, aren’t you moved?”

”Sister Yu Fei.”

Yi Qinglian stomped her foot, and though her face couldn’t be seen, one could imagine the celebrity’s cheeks were flushed red all the way to her ears.

Chu Hao snapped back to reality and said righteously, ”When treating a patient, there’s no distinction between men and women. Don’t think so ill of me.”

Mu Yufei laughed, ”Really?”

Okay, I was bragging.

He took a deep breath, put on his Taoist robe, and took out the Yin Yang Sword.

Mu Yufei, seeing that Chu Hao was serious, didn’t dare to take it lightly and retreated several meters.

Chu Hao took out the Hundred Percent Ghost-seeing Talisman and incanted, ”Three Pure Ones, reveal Thy divine presence, all evil demons, the Taoist Master is here, quickly show your true form...”

The ability of the Hundred Percent Ghost-seeing Talisman was extraordinary. Under the illumination of a strong firelight, the image of the Jade Maiden Picture on Yi Qinglian’s back became clearer and clearer—it was a beauty that could bring a city to its knees.

Mu Yufei exclaimed in astonishment.

”Ding... Host successfully showed off, gaining 20 Pretentiousness Points.”

”FZZT!”

The lights in the house flickered, plunging the apartment into darkness. A powerful gust of yin energy hit them head-on.

This gust of yin wind made their scalps tingle. Chu Hao was extremely vigilant, protecting Mu Yufei behind him.

System prompt: ”Host has triggered an SS-grade hidden quest.”

System prompt: ”Detected a super strong energy presence. The target is beyond the host’s capability. System advises you to run for your life, the farther the better.”

Chu Hao was stunned. ”Damn it! System, come out.”

System: ”Run, don’t look back.”

Chu Hao: ”Damn you, System! You piece of scrap!”

An SS-grade task, this was going against the heavens. What exactly was the thing on Yi Qinglian’s back?

The lights came back on, and Yi Qinglian was no longer facing away from them but facing them directly.

Her face was calm, unfazed, her peerless features giving off an air of suffocating stillness.

Chu Hao had wanted to run, but he lost his composure. His head heated up, his nose felt cool, and he started bleeding from it...

Chu Hao could swear on his life that no movie had ever shown Yi Qinglian looking this beautiful.

Her perfectly shaped breasts, pink, tender, and jade-white, were like flower buds on the verge of blooming, a sight that could take one’s breath away and stir the soul to its depths.

Chu Hao quickly wiped the nosebleed, realizing he could no longer run. He steeled himself and asked, ”Who are you?”

Yi Qinglian said coldly, ”The Forgetful Woman.”

Chu Hao’s mind seemed to explode. Forgetful Woman? The Supreme Forgetful Lady?

Legend had it that the Supreme Forgetful Lady was a manifestation of the Mysterious Lady of the Ninth Heaven, though the truth was unknown.

Chu Hao almost cried. He had run into a tough situation. How great would it be if he had ten thousand Pretentiousness Points?

Chu Hao said, ”The past life was but dust; why must it trouble this present one?”

The Supreme Forgetful Lady shook her head. ”It’s not my desire. It is the will of the Mysterious Lady, and it cannot be changed.”

”The Mysterious Lady of the Ninth Heaven!!” Chu Hao exclaimed.

Where there are ghosts, there are gods.

Hell’s Twelve Yama Palace Lords are Ghost Gods, commanding the Underworld, overseeing the Dead Souls of the Three Realms.

And the Nine Mysterious Heavenly Ladies, transcending beyond the Three Realms, not confined by the elements, deserve the title of Saintess.

They are the so-called Jiutian Empress.

This existence made Chu Hao’s heart bristle. Aren’t they just immortals?

The Supreme Forgetful Lady spoke indifferently, ”Destiny cannot be changed. If you wish to save her, the only way is to break the Nine Mysterious Law; perhaps that will allow her to exist a bit longer, but ultimately she must accept her fate.”

Chu Hao eagerly asked, ”How can I break it?”

The Supreme Forgetful Lady said, ”The way of heaven is merciless; Supreme Forgetfulness involves abandoning all emotions—one represents nothingness, the other presence. There’s a glimmer of hope to break the law of the Mysterious Lady. While the Heavenly Dao is indifferent, true love exists in the human world. If she can be made to fall deeply in love with someone and offer her virginity, it can delay her fate for ten years. After ten years, she will still have to endure the will of the Mysterious Lady.”

Chu Hao asked, ”Enduring the will of the Mysterious Lady, does that mean—she will die?”

The Supreme Forgetful Lady nodded. ”She is certain to die at twenty. True love breaking the mysterious law can allow her to live until thirty.”

”FZZT!”

The room plunged into darkness again. When the lights shone once more, Yi Qinglian was there, facing Chu Hao.

Their eyes met, and Chu Hao blushed.

”Ah!” Yi Qinglian screamed.

”Jerk.”

Uhh... that was too mild of a curse.

”Hooligan.”

Oh dear... those words were unpleasant to hear. How did I become a hooligan?

After a while, Yi Qinglian cried in Mu Yufei’s arms for some time, utterly heartbroken.

Chu Hao cleared his throat and said, ”Alright, let’s talk about serious matters.”

Yi Qinglian’s eyes were red, and she pouted. ”Chu Hao, just how much did you see?”

Chu Hao scratched his head, and Mu Yufei spoke for him, saying, ”He saw everything.”

”BOO HOO... I don’t want to live anymore.” Yi Qinglian cried even more sorrowfully.

After some more time, Yi Qinglian finally calmed down, though she was completely stunned, her mind unclear.

”Twenty years old?”

Mu Yufei felt heartbroken; she truly liked this girl, but fate was playing tricks, and she could only live until twenty.

Chu Hao sighed and said, ”That’s the situation; you only have two more years to live.”

Yi Qinglian’s delicate body trembled slightly.

”Actually, I know I only have two years left.”

Chu Hao and Mu Yufei were astonished; she actually knew.

Yi Qinglian’s eyes were red, inspiring pity. ”In the capital, my family brought people to assess my condition. At that time, I had just turned seventeen, and the masters said the same thing as you: no one could save me.”

”Qinglian.” Mu Yufei’s eyes were blurred with tears.

Chu Hao took a deep breath and asked, ”Since you knew, why did you seek me out?”

”I... I just wanted to try.”

Something tugged at Chu Hao’s heartstrings.

Yi Qinglian, with her head down, said, ”I want to live. Even if there’s only a faint chance, I want to try.”

She was only seventeen then, in the prime of her youth. When she learned she had only three years to live, she was in utter despair but also clung to hope, seeking countless famous doctors throughout Huaxia, and every one of them told her it was fate.

She was desperate to change her fate, almost to the point of madness.

Chu Hao’s face was stern as he stood up from the couch and said, ”What’s so great about a Mysterious Lady? I’ll help you.”

He had entirely forgotten that the System had just told him to flee for his life.

Yi Qinglian looked up, her eyes blurred with tears. ”They all say it’s fate. How can you help me?”

Chu Hao said, ”I just want to help you, regardless of whether we succeed or fail.”

Yi Qinglian let out a laugh, like a blooming peony, thinking Chu Hao was comforting her. ”Chu Hao, thank you.”

Chu Hao said, ”Actually, there’s another way that can let you live ten more years.”

Yi Qinglian gasped in astonishment and said nervously, ”Really?”
