Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1733: Chapter 1732: I Want to Break Up

Mother Li frowned slightly, pulling on Madam Meng who was about to leave, and whispered, ”Sister, if we go to the hospital today and run into Meng Ke, it wouldn’t be good. How about we go tomorrow instead?”

Madam Meng thought for a moment, feeling that her words made some sense.

”Then let’s go tomorrow, let that little slut Xu Qi have her moment for another night.”

In the evening, after Bai Xiaoxiao had showered and lay down in bed, Meng Ke’s call came through. She glanced at the caller ID, hesitated for a moment, and delicately pressed the answer button, softly speaking, ”Hello.”

”Xiaoxiao, it’s me. Are you sleeping yet?”

Meng Ke’s gentle voice came through.

”I was just about to go to sleep. Is there something you need?” Bai Xiaoxiao pulled the blanket up to her chest.

”I just got home and wanted to give you a call.”

”If there’s nothing else, then I’ll go to sleep.” With that, Bai Xiaoxiao hung up the phone.

Her mood wasn’t particularly good.

Especially after what Gu Kai said this afternoon, Bai Xiaoxiao felt particularly unsettled inside.

There was a soft knock on the door, followed by her mother’s voice coming through the door panel, ”Xiaoxiao.”

Bai Xiaoxiao responded, lifted the blanket, got out of bed, and ran to open the door.

Mother Bai glanced at Xiaoxiao in her pajamas and smiled gently.

”Mom, come in.”

Bai Xiaoxiao reached out to pull Mother Bai into the room, closed the door, and the two of them walked over to the sofa.

Sitting in front of the sofa, Mother Bai gently asked, ”Xiaoxiao, I heard Meng Ke has been in the hospital looking after a woman these days, is that true?”

Bai Xiaoxiao’s clear watery eyes flickered as she met her mother’s curious gaze. She smiled faintly and said softly, ”Mom, it’s true, the person Meng Ke is looking after is a tour guide from their travel agency, named Xu Wanqi, and she’s also his junior from school.”

She paused here, and under her mother’s watchful eyes, continued, ”A few nights ago, they encountered a group of thugs, and then Xu Wanqi took a stab for Meng Ke, injuring her arm. Later, some other things happened, and her wound became serious.”

Mother Bai, being experienced, couldn’t help but frown upon hearing this.

She stared fixedly at Bai Xiaoxiao, her tone slightly stern, ”Xiaoxiao, isn’t that Xu Wanqi in love with Meng Ke by any chance?”

Though it seemed like a question, it was actually quite certain.

Bai Xiaoxiao smiled evasively.

”Mom, don’t you think Meng Ke is good too? Isn’t it normal for someone to like him?”

Bai Xiaoxiao’s joking words caused Mother Bai’s expression to slightly darken.

”Really? Is that woman truly fond of Meng Ke, which is why Meng Ke stayed at the hospital to take care of her?”

”Mom, I’m just guessing. I’m not a worm in Xu Wanqi’s belly. You know, I was on a business trip a few days ago? I just got back today. I also heard from Ranran that Meng Ke has been in the hospital taking care of that woman named Xu Wanqi these days.”

”As Meng Ke’s girlfriend, didn’t you visit the hospital to see him?”

Mother Bai knew her daughter wasn’t that deeply in love with Meng Ke.

In her heart, she probably hasn’t completely let go of Luo Haofeng.

She believed Meng Ke was a man to rely on, and hoped her daughter would be with Meng Ke, and naturally, she didn’t want any other woman to covet her chosen son-in-law.

Bai Xiaoxiao pouted slightly, ”I did go, but I wasn’t welcome.”

She lowered her head here, pretending to look aggrieved.

Mother Bai furrowed her brows, asking concernedly, ”Did that Xu Wanqi woman give you a hard time?”

If that was the case, it would be excessive. Her daughter was Meng Ke’s girlfriend; no matter the woman’s debt of gratitude to Meng Ke, it shouldn’t require personal care from him.

”Mom, she took a stab for Meng Ke, which shows she really, really likes him. Seeing me, the rival in love, of course she wouldn’t welcome or be nice to me.”

”What about Meng Ke? What did he say?”

”Meng Ke just called me, saying he’s back home from the hospital.”

The more Mother Bai listened to Bai Xiaoxiao, the grimmer her expression became.

What is going on!

Bai Xiaoxiao had already returned, yet Meng Ke was still at the hospital with Xu Wanqi.

Seeing Bai Xiaoxiao’s indifferent expression, Mother Bai couldn’t help but squint.

”Xiaoxiao, is it that you hope Meng Ke and Xu Wanqi end up together so you don’t have to be with him?”

You have to admit, Mother Bai really understands her daughter.

Bai Xiaoxiao was first taken aback, then replied with self-deprecation, ”Mom, you think too highly of your daughter. If all my wishes could come true, I would have achieved my dreams long ago.”

If her wishes all came true, she wouldn’t be in such a dilemma right now.

”Xiaoxiao, Meng Ke genuinely cares for you. Don’t think about pushing him to another woman. If one day, something really happens between him and Xu Wanqi, you’ll regret missing out on such a good man.”

Bai Xiaoxiao pursed her lips and looked down.

Meng Ke was good, but he wasn’t only good to her.

From how he has cared for Xu Wanqi these days, he was just too good.

For a moment, Bai Xiaoxiao wanted to destroy the image of Meng Ke in her mother’s heart, the words slipping out, ”Tonight, Meng Ke personally made dumplings for Xu Wanqi. He initially invited me to his home for dinner, but halfway through, Xu Wanqi called, so he went to the hospital. Then Xu Wanqi said she wanted the dumplings he made, and he stood me up.”

”Such a thing happened, Meng Ke has gone too far. I’ll call him now.” Mother Bai said, and was about to get up to leave.

”Mom, there’s something I want to talk to you about.”

Bai Xiaoxiao held onto Mother Bai, her gentle voice tinged with hesitation and conflict.

She knew in her heart her words would surely make her mom angry.

But she still wanted to say them.

Mother Bai furrowed her brows, ”Xiaoxiao, what is it?”

Bai Xiaoxiao took a deep breath, making a great effort to keep her tone calm, ”Mom, I want to break up with Meng Ke.”

What?

Mother Bai’s eyes widened in shock, staring at her daughter in disbelief, ”Xiaoxiao, you and Meng Ke are fine, why do you want to break up?”

As she spoke, her sharp gaze pierced through Bai Xiaoxiao, seemingly trying to read her mind.

Bai Xiaoxiao avoided Mother Bai’s piercing eyes, looked down at her hands, and said blandly, ”We’re not suitable for each other, and, I don’t like him that much.”

”Xiaoxiao, tell me, have you been in touch with Luo Haofeng again? Did you go to see him on your business trip to B City?”

Mentioning Luo Haofeng, Mother Bai’s tone couldn’t help but sink a little, her face darkening.

She was very angry.

The last time, she purposefully met Luo Haofeng and sternly warned him not to disturb Xiaoxiao again.

Who would have thought? Hardly much time had passed before Luo Haofeng and Xiaoxiao were in contact again.

Moreover, Xiaoxiao suddenly wanting to break up with Meng Ke had to be due to Luo Haofeng’s influence.
