Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1046: 1045 jealous

Wen Ran pursed her lips and smiled, pretending not to understand as she asked, “Isn’t that so, then why didn’t you dare to agree earlier?”

“Didn’t I tell you the reason?”

Gu Kai’s handsome brows lightly raised as he glanced at Wen Ran in the rearview mirror, then added, “Originally, I was hoping you would help me screen—keep an eye out for me. Now it seems you’re just crazy for a sister-in-law. I’ve decided, I won’t count on you anymore.”

“You shouldn’t have counted on me in the first place; you’re marrying someone to spend your life with.”

Wen Ran pouted.

Gu Kai laughed and said, “No, I’ll wait for my little nephew and niece to be born and let them pick their aunt.”

“If Sister Wei hears that, she’ll be upset.”

Wen Ran gave him a reproachful glance, her hand involuntarily caressing her belly, which had become almost habitual over the past few months.

“Ranran, Bai Yiyi sprained her ankle, did you know?”

Gu Kai chuckled, changing the subject as he asked.

Wen Ran was firstly startled, then looked at him with surprise, “When did this happen? I had no idea.”

“It’s been several days, probably before you went abroad. She’s Ah Jin’s secretary—didn’t Ah Jin tell you?”

Gu Kai turned his eyes, looking at Wen Ran with confusion.

That day, when he went to the company looking for Wen Jin, Bai Yiyi’s ankle was still not healed. The next day, he had intended to be kind for once and take her to the hospital to check whether it was fractured or broken.

But unexpectedly, Bai Yiyi didn’t go inside upon arriving at the hospital entrance.

Thinking about this, Gu Kai felt a surge of anger in his chest; that woman really didn’t know what was good for her.

“My brother didn’t mention it. Brother, how do you know? Did you see Yiyi by any chance?”

What Wen Ran actually wanted to ask was whether he had made things difficult for Bai Yiyi again when he saw her.

Gu Kai nodded his head and said nonchalantly, “That day, I went to the pharmaceutical plant to look for Ah Jin and saw Bai Yiyi limping. Thinking that you two are friends, I just thought I would let you know.”

“I’ll give her a call to ask.”

After thinking it over, Wen Ran took out her cellphone to call Bai Yiyi.

Gu Kai focused on driving, unable to hear what Bai Yiyi was saying on the phone, but from Wen Ran’s response, he could guess what she was saying.

**

In the afternoon, Luo Haofeng rushed to G City from his business trip.

When he called Mo Xiuchen, Wen Ran was in Mo Xiuchen’s office, helping him with his work.

Luo Haofeng, hearing that Wen Ran was there, went directly to the company.

“Ranran, Ah Feng will be here soon.” Mo Xiuchen said to Wen Ran, who was nestled in the sofa, after hanging up the phone.

Wen Ran ‘oh’ed, popping a cherry into her mouth before continuing with her magazine, which she had subscribed to specifically after becoming pregnant.

Seeing her absorbed in the magazine, paying no mind to him, Mo Xiuchen couldn’t help but feel jealous as he frowned, got up from the desk, walked over to the sofa, and snatched the magazine from her hands.

Wen Ran looked up to see Mo Xiuchen’s handsome features slightly stern, she lightly laughed and said, “Mo Xiuchen, what’s wrong?”

“Jealous.”

Mo Xiuchen said, tossing the magazine onto another sofa before sitting down next to Wen Ran, wrapping his long arm around her waist and pulling her into his embrace.

Wen Ran watched Mo Xiuchen’s jealous face with a smile. Although he had pulled her into his arms, his face still held a trace of displeasure.

“Mo Xiuchen, you can’t be jealous of a magazine, right? Just now you said Luo Haofeng will be here soon, and I heard you and even responded.”

Wen Ran tugged at Mo Xiuchen’s sleeve, coaxing him with the tone one would use with a child.

“You will, Ranran. You neglect me over a magazine; what more when our baby is born? Won’t you pay even less attention to me?”

Mo Xiuchen had been jealous many times before, but he had never shown it like this.

He realized that whenever Ranran looked at anything related to the baby, she would lose interest in him.

He had wanted to throw that magazine far away a long time ago. Competing with him for Ranran’s attention was simply suicidal.

“How could that be? It’s clearly you using me as a guinea pig for our daughter. Look, the hairstyle on my head is the best proof.”

Wen Ran pointed to her hair, her eyes shimmering with laughter like water.

Mo Xiuchen, looking at Wen Ran’s hair, finally showed a smile on his handsome face. He looked down and placed his large hand on her slightly bulging belly, eagerly asking, “Ranran, how long before we can feel the baby move?”

“It varies, doesn’t it? Some feel it sooner, others later.”

Wen Ran explained uncertainly, feeling the warmth of his hand through the fabric on her belly, feeling a warm surge in her heart.

“Perhaps it’s better if it’s later. The sooner the baby moves, the more you’ll suffer.”

Mo Xiuchen frowned slightly, conflicted in his words.

“That’s not for you to decide. Mo Xiuchen, actually, I don’t feel like I’m suffering. On the contrary, I’m very happy, because this is our baby.”

Mo Xiuchen, hearing her say this, relaxed his brows and his eyes softened, “Ranran, once the baby is born, I’ll make sure they take good care of you.”

“Do babies understand how to be filial right after they’re born?”

Wen Ran looked at him amusedly.

Mo Xiuchen’s words were deliberately misinterpreted, and he lightly flicked her nose as a punishment, saying earnestly, “Maybe our baby is a genius. I’ve been working hard these past few months on prenatal education so they know how to be filial to their mother right after birth.”

“So, you’re pretty good at bragging too.”

Wen Ran teased with a playful look in her eyes.

“Ranran, I have even more impressive skills.”

Mo Xiuchen’s eyes narrowed into a smile, his lips curled with pride.

“What skills? Tell me.”

Wen Ran tilted her head against the back of the sofa, blinking with clear, bright eyes.

Mo Xiuchen drew his arm in, lowered his head, and his sexy, thin lips brushed against her ear. His voice, lowered and charmingly seductive, whispered, “Ranran, don’t you know? In bed…”

“Get lost.”

Wen Ran pushed him away, her fair little face flushed with a touch of red due to his ambiguous actions and words.

Mo Xiuchen laughed heartily after getting an advantage, gripping her shoulder with his large hand, saying with pleasure, “Ranran, let me give you a massage.”

When Luo Haofeng arrived, Mo Xiuchen was focused on massaging Wen Ran’s legs. Luo Hao pushed the door open and paused at the sight of the warm, blissful scene on the sofa.

“Haofeng, what are you doing standing there?”

Mo Xiuchen glanced over in the direction of the door from the corner of his eye, his hands not ceasing their movements.

Luo Haofeng curled his lips into a smile and strode to the couch, looking at Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran, “I didn’t want to interrupt your little world, maybe I should come back later.”

“Mo Xiuchen, that’s enough.”

Wen Ran whispered, simultaneously reaching out to grab Mo Xiuchen’s hand to prevent him from continuing to massage her legs.

Mo Xiuchen gave her a tender smile, withdrew his hand, and leaned back into the couch, saying to Luo Haofeng, “Go pour yourself some water if you want any.”
