Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1005: 1004 Go for a blind date tonight Chapter 1005: 1004 Go for a blind date tonight “Elder Brother Li, that’s just a friend of mine, not a stranger. You head upstairs first; Auntie is at home. I’m going to buy some things and will be back soon,” Bai Yiyi explained calmly.

Li En responded with a ‘okay’ without asking further questions and hung up the phone.

Although Gu Kai was annoyed by Bai Yiyi’s words, he still felt relieved inside.

As long as Bai Yiyi’s daughter had nothing to do with him, he didn’t have to worry about anything else; he wasn’t tired of his single life yet and didn’t want to rush into trouble that would end his freedom.

Gu Kai, in a great mood, hummed a tune as he walked into the hospital and returned to his office. When he saw Gu Yan sitting on the sofa, Gu Kai’s face revealed a delighted smile, “Dad, did you come here just to wait for me?”

Gu Yan stared at his son’s radiant and handsome face, “What’s the good news? You seem so happy.”

“Dad, must it be that if there isn’t good news, I can only cry and not smile?” Gu Kai walked over and sat down next to Gu Yan.

“That’s true, even without good news, you shouldn’t cry, because I’m here to tell you some good news.”

Gu Yan looked at his son with a teasing smile, which caused Gu Kai’s expression to tighten. His smile faded, and he looked at his father seriously, “Dad, what good news?”

“Of course, it’s about your marriage. Your sister and Mo Xiuchen are planning to have kids, and you as their brother, if you don’t even have a girlfriend, that’s just not acceptable. I’ve already arranged it for you; tonight at seven, you have a meeting.”

“Dad, you actually arranged a blind date for me?”

Gu Kai sprang up from the sofa.

He looked at Gu Yan in disbelief; how could he do this.

Gu Yan’s brow furrowed, and the gentle look on his face took on a trace of severity as he looked sternly at his son, “Your mother passed away early, and you have not taken initiative concerning life’s major issues, so I cannot let you be alone forever. You must shoulder the responsibility of continuing the Gu Family lineage.”

Seeing Gu Kai’s displeased and cold face, Gu Yan’s expression softened slightly, “Ah Kai, you’re already thirty years old, and of the four of you – you, Mo Xiuchen, Ah Feng, and Ah Mu – only you are utterly devoid of any intention to date. Ah Feng now has a girlfriend, and Ah Mu has been on blind dates for a few years now. How long are you going to wait?”

“Dad, didn’t you say that relationships are a matter of fate? I believe that my ‘the one’ is waiting somewhere for me. When the time comes, we will meet, know each other, and fall in love. When you retire and go home, I’ll consider getting married and having a set of twins to keep you company.”

“I’m retiring tomorrow.”

Gu Yan glared at him, stood up, and left a sentence, “Remember, before seven tonight, go to Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion, second floor table number nine for the meeting. If you dare to stand her up, don’t bother coming to work tomorrow.”

Without giving Gu Kai a chance to protest, Gu Yan finished speaking and strode out of the office.

“…”

Gu Kai muttered in frustration, puzzled as to why his father, who used to be so open-minded, had suddenly become so concerned about his affairs.

And forcing him to go on blind dates?

This was totally out of character for his father.

In truth, Gu Kai’s confusion was justified. Forcing him to go on a blind date was not Director Gu’s style. This time, the pressure was on him because of Mo Xiuchen’s involvement.

However, Gu Kai could never have dreamed of that.

While he was troubled and perplexed, Mo Xiuchen, the messenger, was with Wen Ran on a plane at thirty thousand feet, where fluffy white clouds dotted the sky outside the cabin.

In the first-class section, Mo Xiuchen asked Wen Ran with concern, “Ranran, are you tired?”

“Not tired.”

Wen Ran smiled and shook her head.

Mo Xiuchen’s large hand grasped her soft little one and said thoughtfully, “Since you’re not tired, I have something to tell you.”

“What is it?” Wen Ran blinked, looking at him gently.

Mo Xiuchen smiled warmly at her, his voice low and mellow as it spilled from his lips, “It’s about Ah Feng and Bai Xiaoxiao.”

Upon hearing this, Wen Ran slightly stiffened.

She didn’t ask what it was about but quietly waited for him to continue.

“Yesterday, you asked me to call Ah Feng. I did call him, but when I did, he was in the hospital.”

“Hospital?”

Wen Ran quietly repeated the word.

A bad premonition crept into her heart, and seeing Mo Xiuchen’s expression tighten, she subconsciously pursed her lips.

Mo Xiuchen nodded, seeing the worry flicker in her eyes, he softened his voice and said, “Ranran, Ah Feng’s mother somehow found out about his contact with Bai Xiaoxiao. Yesterday morning, she slit her wrists in an attempt to commit suicide, to force him to break up with Bai Xiaoxiao and marry Qi Meiling.”

“Why would his mother do that?”

Wen Ran’s face paled, and her eyes suddenly widened.

“So, did he agree?” Wen Ran saw Mo Xiuchen was silent and quickly asked again, a tone of nervousness in her voice.

If Luo Haofeng agreed to break up with Xiaoxiao, then Xiaoxiao…

Wen Ran’s brows tightly knitted together; it seemed that both times Xiaoxiao got together with Luo Haofeng, she had suggested it. Last time, when Luo Haofeng proposed breaking up, Xiaoxiao managed to accept it calmly and even found the courage to get back together with Luo Haofeng later.

If Luo Haofeng proposed breaking up again, Xiaoxiao would be so heartbroken.

“Ah Feng has not agreed yet. But, after all, that’s his biological mother. He can’t really let Bai Xiaoxiao cause his mother’s death. If his mother really died, it would also be the end of him and Bai Xiaoxiao.”

Wen Ran lowered her gaze, her complexion not looking great.

“So, Luo Haofeng has no choice but to walk the only path available to him, which is to break up with Xiaoxiao.”

“He has asked us not to tell Xiaoxiao. His mother probably still doesn’t know where Xiaoxiao is, so for the time being, she can’t contact Xiaoxiao either.”

Mo Xiuchen said this uncertainly; he was not clear about the specifics either.

“I understand.” Wen Ran’s voice was somewhat muffled, as if something was blocking her chest and making it hard to breathe.

Mo Xiuchen tightened his grip on her hand, whispering, “Ranran, Ah Feng and Bai Xiaoxiao’s situation is not something that can be solved quickly. You knew this from the start, which is why you suggested that Bai Xiaoxiao study abroad. Now, the development of the situation isn’t unexpected; you shouldn’t feel sad.”

“I’m not sad.” Wen Ran forced her mouth into a strained smile, “Maybe, I was too naive. I really shouldn’t have encouraged Xiaoxiao to study abroad. Aunt Qiao was right, not every couple gets married because of love. Nor does it mean that a marriage without love can’t be happy.”

“…”

Mo Xiuchen wanted to say something, but he thought of his and Wen Ran’s own beginning, which wasn’t born from love either. Even though they had met over a decade earlier, they could also be considered to have grown affectionate over time, falling in love after getting married. The words he wanted to say were swallowed back down.
