Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1043: 1042 It would be good if she died

“Yes, her parents were buried, and their bodies were just excavated an hour ago, but Cheng Jia hasn’t been found yet. The disaster was severe, and it’s been raining continuously these past few days causing ongoing landslides. There are still more than a dozen people missing.”

Perhaps Cheng Jia is among those still not found.

If it were only Cheng Jia’s ID card found without any sign of her, Mo Xiuchen might not have believed it. However, Cheng Jia’s parents were also here, and they had plane tickets from two days ago as proof.

Hence, Mo Xiuchen guessed that Cheng Jia’s parents must have known she was here and came to find her. Or perhaps, they had always known she was here but had not dared to act earlier because he had people watching over them.

After New Year’s, he had those watching Cheng Jia’s parents withdrawn, and they came to see Cheng Jia, only to encounter a mudslide.

“Mo Xiuchen, have you been at the scene the whole time?”

Wen Ran spent two days with Bai Xiaoxiao and had no time to follow domestic news. It was only yesterday that her brother mentioned that Mo Xiuchen was still in City C.

“I won’t go tomorrow; the company’s staff has been found. After dealing with things over here, I’ll head back, Ranran. Since you rarely see Bai Xiaoxiao, stay there for a few more days before coming back. I’ll pick you up at the airport.”

Since three company employees died in the mudslide and two require amputation, Mo Xiuchen won’t be able to return to G City in a couple of days.

Hearing that Mo Xiuchen wouldn’t be going to the site tomorrow, Wen Ran felt somewhat relieved and said softly, “Alright, I’ll let you know once I book the flight.”

“Ranran, don’t overexert yourself.”

Before hanging up, Mo Xiuchen couldn’t help but worry, cautioning her, afraid that Bai Xiaoxiao would drag Wen Ran all over the place again.

“I know, don’t worry.” Wen Ran felt a surge of sweetness in her heart, a smile creeping across her face.

On the couch next to her, Bai Xiaoxiao with a facial mask on, watched Wen Ran’s happy smile, gesturing her to end the call, flaunting her love across the Pacific Ocean, without sparing a thought for her single self.

Wen Ran gave her a glare, then chatted with Mo Xiuchen for a few more minutes before reluctantly hanging up.

“Ranran, didn’t you say that when you’re at home, Mo Xiuchen doesn’t even let you use your phone. What’s going on now? He’s not afraid of radiation when you’re boiling soup on the phone?”

Bai Xiaoxiao complained discontentedly. After speaking, she tore off her facial mask, jumped up in front of Wen Ran, and snatched her phone, saying, “If Mo Xiuchen isn’t afraid of radiation, I’m still worried about radiation harming my godson and goddaughter. Ranran, you should just peacefully spend these days with me and forget about men.”

Wen Ran couldn’t help laughing, her voice drawn out, “Alright, I’ll spend these days with you, not thinking about anyone else. My brother, Qing Feng, and Qing Yang came with me, and I haven’t even been paying them any attention. Why aren’t you satisfied yet?”

Bai Xiaoxiao made a face at her, ran into the bathroom to wash her face, and came out only to say, “Of course I’m not satisfied. You came to visit me for a few days, and now you are just going to leave me to go back to Mo Xiuchen.”

Wen Ran casually took a mango from the fruit plate and stuffed it into Bai Xiaoxiao’s mouth to stop her complaints, “Eat fruit, don’t talk.”

“Annoying.”

Bai Xiaoxiao took out the mango that had been stuffed in her mouth, cursed with a laugh, and while peeling it, she asked:

“Ranran, you just mentioned Cheng Jia, what’s that about?”

Wen Ran said nonchalantly, “Before I came here, there was a mudslide in City C. Mo Xiuchen just told me that Cheng Jia’s parents died in the mudslide, and also, the rescue team found Cheng Jia’s ID card, so it’s very likely she’s among them.”

Bai Xiaoxiao, originally peeling fruit, paused her movements and looked up at Wen Ran, “What do you mean ‘likely’? Did Cheng Jia die or not?”

Thinking of how Cheng Jia had once forced Ranran to swear poisonously, Bai Xiaoxiao wished she had died sooner.

Wen Ran shook her head, “I don’t know. Mo Xiuchen said they haven’t found her yet. It’s been several days. If she was buried or something, she’s definitely beyond help.”

“The best thing would be if they never find her, let her be gone without a trace,” Xiaoxiao said bitterly.

“Finding her would mean she’s gone without a trace. If not found, she will just remain preserved underground,” Wen Ran corrected with a laugh. Xiaoxiao frowned, annoyed, “Forget it, forget it, whether her body is preserved or not, she’s dead, and that’s good. It spares her from coming back and trying to steal your husband.”

“Right.” Wen Ran smiled faintly, unfazed by Cheng Jia’s death. If it weren’t for Mo Xiuchen’s unwavering determination, who forgot everyone else but wasn’t seduced by Cheng Jia and followed his own heart, Mo Xiuchen might have really been stolen away by Cheng Jia by now.

“Ranran, let’s go out and celebrate later.”

Xiaoxiao cut up a peeled mango, placed it on a fruit plate, and handed it to Wen Ran, putting a small piece in her mouth.

“Where are we celebrating?”

Wen Ran picked up a piece and fed it into her mouth.

After swallowing her mango, Xiaoxiao said, “You pick the place, I’ll pay, and also invite Miqin over.”

“Isn’t she working? Let’s go to the restaurant next to where she works. Your friend is aloof, and if we invite my brothers, she definitely wouldn’t want to join.”

“Then let’s not invite them. Just the three of us will celebrate.” Xiaoxiao had always hoped that the two of them, Wen Ran and Miqin, who resembled each other, would become friends.

However, Miqin was too cold, and she didn’t show much enthusiasm even towards Wen Ran, who looked somewhat like her.

Out of respect for Xiaoxiao, Miqin agreed to join them for lunch. During the meal, when she heard Xiaoxiao talking about celebrating the death of Wen Ran’s archrival Cheng Jia in a mudslide disaster, Miqin paused slightly while drinking water.

Looking up, she asked uncertainly, “Xiaoxiao, what are you celebrating?”

Xiaoxiao smiled broadly, “Miqin, you don’t know. That Cheng Jia was horrible. She took advantage of Ranran’s husband’s amnesia, forced Ranran to leave him…”

After listening to Xiaoxiao’s recount of Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen’s story, Miqin said indifferently, “So, that Cheng Jia is already dead.”

“Yeah, they found her parents’ corpses too. It’s bad enough she died, but she also caused the death of her own parents. Truly wicked.”

Xiaoxiao shook her head in sigh. Miqin’s eyes flickered with emotion. Her phone rang, and she said, “I’ll take this call first,” got up, and went outside to answer.

The night before she returned to G City, she was still staying in Xiaoxiao’s apartment. Wen Jin, Qing Feng, and Qing Yang were staying in a hotel close to Xiaoxiao’s apartment, so there was nothing to worry about.

“Ranran, for my godson and goddaughter, I’ll make sure to work hard and come back home soon.”

Xiaoxiao stared at Wen Ran’s belly as if by speaking, her godson and goddaughter could hear her, her eyes and brows filled with sincerity.

Wen Ran put away her reluctance and smiled, nodding, “Okay, I’ll definitely pick you up at the airport.”

“Of course,” Xiaoxiao declared matter-of-factly. Wen Ran gave her a playful look, and Xiaoxiao quickly added, “Not only should you come to pick me up, but you should also bring my godson and goddaughter to meet me.”
