Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1033: 1032 Hero Saves the Beauty

Wen Ran felt a wave of warmth and emotion surge through her because of his words.

“That’s all in the past, I’m not sad.”

She lifted her face in a bright smile to show him she wasn’t upset.

Yet, Mo Xiuchen felt a persistent sense of guilt, thinking that he had forgotten Ranran and spent over two months with another woman, which he deeply regretted.

He tightened his embrace around her ever so slightly.

“Mo Xiuchen, let’s go outside.”

Wen Ran’s gentle voice brought Mo Xiuchen back to the present. He cracked a smile, took the fruit plate from her hand, popped two cherries into her mouth, and then, holding her hand, they went into the yard.

Outside, Wen Jin and Qin Mu sat at a marble table, while An Lin was up in a tree, leaning out to try to reach for the luscious red cherries that hung from the farthest branches.

Seeing them emerge, An Lin waved down from the tree, “Ranran!”

Wen Ran looked up at An Lin.

When she noticed the branch under An Lin’s feet, her brows furrowed, and she called out with concern, “An Lin, that’s a dead branch under your feet; it can’t hold your weight.”

“I’ll come down soon.”

An Lin glanced at the branch below her, reached out to pull a distant cherry branch closer, and, with half her body stretched out, finally managed to pick a few large vibrant cherries.

Before she could release her hold, she was startled by the sight of several tiny caterpillars on the branch. In her panic, her hand involuntarily let go, and as she failed to grab another branch, the dried branch under her feet, perhaps also startled, snapped before she could catch herself.

“An Lin!”

Wen Ran’s eyes widened in shock as she saw An Lin fall from the tree.

A few steps away, Qin Mu and Wen Jin, who sat at the marble table, stood up simultaneously. Qin Mu was closer and, in a flash, rushed forward to catch An Lin just before she hit the ground.

An Lin, pale with fear, kept her eyes tightly shut.

“Open your eyes, you’re still alive.”

Qin Mu’s body shook slightly under An Lin’s weight.

His arms ached from catching her, and he gave a slight frown as he looked at the woman clinging to him like a tree.

An Lin held her breath and slowly opened her eyes. As she saw Qin Mu’s handsome face close to hers, she turned to glance at Mo Xiuchen, Wen Ran, and Wen Jin nearby. Her face, which had been pale with fright, blushed instantly, and she scrambled down from Qin Mu’s arms in disarray.

“Take it easy.”

Qin Mu, noting An Lin’s disheveled state, softly chided her while gently rubbing his arm.

An Lin regained her balance then looked up at Qin Mu, “What’s wrong with your arm?”

“You should lose some weight.”

Qin Mu pressed his lips together and returned the comment.

“Qin Mu, An Lin is so slim already, she doesn’t need to lose weight. However, your heroic rescue just now was quite impressive. An Lin, aren’t you going to thank your lifesaver with the cherries in your hand?”

Wen Ran teasingly interjected.

An Lin had felt grateful towards Qin Mu, but his remark about losing weight had upset her, “I risked my life to pick these, and I won’t give them to him.”

Qin Mu glanced at her nonchalantly, walked back to the marble table, picked up a bag filled with cherries, and gave it a shake in front of An Lin, “Every cherry in here is tastier than the ones you picked.”

“Give me some.”

An Lin reached out to grab some.

Qin Mu lifted his hand, effortlessly avoiding An Lin’s grasp. A faint smile curled at the corner of his mouth as he turned to address Wen Ran and Mo Xiuchen, “Mo Xiuchen, Ranran, are you heading back?”

“An Lin, this bag is for you.”

Beside her, Wen Jin smiled, handing over the bag of cherries she picked to An Lin.

An Lin received it with a grin, happily saying “thank you,” her gaze drifting towards Qin Mu’s arm that he had been rubbing just before.

“I’ll head back with Ranran in the afternoon; you guys go on ahead.”

Mo Xiuchen led Wen Ran to the marble table, placing the plate loaded with cherries on top, and said to Wen Ran, “Let’s go pick loquats later.”

“Okay!”

Wen Ran nodded with a smile, recalling how Mo Xiuchen had brought her here last year during the cherry season as well.

She admired the rose bushes dotted with buds throughout the flower garden, and Mo Xiuchen followed her gaze, a gentle curve forming on his lips as he softly remarked, “Ranran, if you don’t want to go back, we can stay for a few more days and wait for the roses to bloom.”

Wen Ran raised her eyes to meet Mo Xiuchen’s tender, profound gaze, her heart warming inside, “No need; it will take about two to three weeks for the flowers to bloom. We can come back then.”

“Since we’re heading back anyway, let’s go together,” Wen Jin interjected.

Wen Ran nodded, “Mo Xiuchen, let’s go back too. We came together, so we should leave together.”

“If you say we go back, then we go back,” said Mo Xiuchen, who muttered just before about not going back, but now had no objections as soon as Ranran suggested they leave.

**

Qin Mu and An Lin had booked their plane tickets directly.

Having returned to G City, Wen Jin drove them to the airport while Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran headed home.

“Mo Xiuchen, I want to visit Aunt Qiao.”

“I’ll accompany you.”

Mo Xiuchen’s eyes twinkled as he spoke in a kind tone.

Wen Ran chuckled, “Just drop me off at the Bai Family’s place; you’ll get bored waiting while I chat with Aunt Qiao.”

“Alright, I’ll take you to the Bai Family’s place, and then I’ll come to pick you up.”

On the way to the Bai Family’s home, Mo Xiuchen took a call from a client. Upon arriving, he watched her enter the house and then actually left.

Mother Bai warmly ushered Wen Ran to the sofa to sit down and served her the fruit she had brought.

“Ranran, how many months is it?”

Mother Bai sat next to Wen Ran, looking at her with concern.

Wen Ran softly answered her question, prompting Mother Bai to inquire further, “Can you tell the gender yet? Do you know whether it’s a boy or a girl?”

“I had a prenatal checkup yesterday; it’s girl and boy twins.”

“Girl and boy twins? Ranran, you’re amazing,” Mother Bai exclaimed joyfully.

Wen Ran blushed slightly, feeling a bit embarrassed, “Aunt Bai, I’m just lucky.”

“Ha ha, ‘just lucky,’ indeed. You’re about the same age as Xiaoxiao, yet you’re about to be a mother, with both a son and a daughter, while that girl Xiaoxiao is heading abroad to study without even having a boyfriend yet.”

Wen Ran paused for a moment, remembering Xiaoxiao’s relationship with Luo Haofeng, and covered it up with a smile, “Aunt Qiao, Xiaoxiao will surely be happy too; you don’t need to worry.”

“Hope so. Now that she’s cut ties with Luo Haofeng, I’m a little relieved. Just the other day, Meng Ke was asking me for Xiaoxiao’s address abroad, saying he’s planning to visit D Country soon.”

“Meng Ke?”

Wen Ran blinked in surprise.

Hadn’t Meng Ke and Xiaoxiao broken up? Could it be he still couldn’t let go?

“Ranran, if you have the time, could you talk to Xiaoxiao for me? Meng Ke is a decent man. Maybe Xiaoxiao doesn’t like him now, but in time she will realize that marriage needs more than just love. She’s just like she was with Xiao Yuting; she won’t turn back until she hits a wall.”
