Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1010: As long as it’s a female, and alive. Chapter 1010: As long as it’s a female, and alive. Wen Ran smiled and nodded, “Yes, brother.”

Wen Jin followed up on Wen Ran’s words, “Ranran had her check-up half an hour ago. We haven’t left the hospital to tell you this good news, waiting here for you.”

“Haha, I’m going to be an uncle!” Gu Kai laughed excitedly. Next to him, Mo Xiuchen frowned and used his hand to block in front of Wen Ran, scolding Gu Kai, “Don’t laugh so loudly.”

“Ranran, how many weeks along are you?”

Gu Kai gave Mo Xiuchen a look that said ‘if you don’t understand, don’t speak’, but when his gaze turned to Wen Ran, his face brightened with a smile again.

“About five weeks.”

Gu Kai said to someone on the other side, “Move over.” He stepped over and sat down right between Wen Jin and Wen Ran.

Wen Jin glared at him and got up to sit on another couch.

Gu Kai sat down where Wen Jin had been and said gently, “Ranran, come back and live with us; I’ll take good care of you…”

“Ranran, don’t listen to him.”

Before Gu Kai could finish, Mo Xiuchen interrupted him. His smile disappeared as he changed the subject, “I just heard from Dad that you’ve been going on blind dates recently. How’s it going? If you find someone suitable, try dating. You’re not getting any younger. Instead of worrying about Ranran all the time, you should care about your own life partner.”

Mo Xiuchen spoke earnestly, seemingly truly concerned for Gu Kai, which made Wen Jin’s mouth twitch.

Gu Kai frowned angrily in response but before he could retort, Director Gu, his father, began to speak, “Ah Kai, Xiuchen is right. You and he are the same age, and Xiuchen will be a father in a few months, while you don’t even have a partner. Don’t think I don’t know how you treated those girls before.”

Towards the end, Director Gu’s expression grew stern and authoritative.

Gu Kai gave Mo Xiuchen a contemptuous look before answering his father, “Dad, you wanted me to go on blind dates, and I did. As for how I treated them, I would like to make one thing clear.”

“Hmph, you want to make a statement? Fine, today in front of Xiuchen, Ah Jin, and Ranran, tell us, what is it you want to declare?”

A slight smirk played at the corner of Mo Xiuchen’s mouth, clearly taking pleasure in Gu Kai’s predicament.

Wen Ran could barely contain her laughter, while Wen Jin looked at Gu Kai with a sympathetic gaze.

Gu Kai pursed his lips and lifted his chin proudly, saying, “The women I’ve been set up with are potential life partners, not nannies or hourly workers whom you can dismiss whenever you want. What’s wrong with being strict?”

“Anything else?”

Gu Yan gave him a sharp look and picked up his teacup to drink.

Gu Kai continued, “Dad, next time someone wants to introduce their daughter to me, could you please screen them first? Don’t agree to just any oddballs. After all, I am currently G City’s most eligible bachelor. Having a timid and pretentious woman marry into the Gu Family would be an embarrassment.”

“Timid and pretentious?”

Gu Yan narrowed his eyes, his gaze heavy as he watched his son.

Undeterred, Gu Kai nodded confidently, his brows raised arrogantly, “Right, like the first one who ran to the bathroom to throw up just hearing me talk about surgery. The second one, I told her she was sick, and she flatly denied it. As for the third, she looked like I was going to chop off her ear for research when I just wanted to take a look at it, turning pale with fright…”

Listening to Gu Kai enumerate the failings of his blind dates – how timid and pretentious they were – Wen Ran hung her head shaking her shoulders uncontrollably.

“The fourth one ate rice one grain at a time, and she wiped her mouth after every bite. Facing such women, I’d rather be dead.”

“The fifth one, a gust of wind would blow off a layer of her makeup, am I supposed to eat food or eat powder?”

Mo Xiuchen frowned unhappily, gently wrapped his arms around Wen Ran’s shoulders, and comforted her, “Ranran, if you want to laugh, just laugh out loud. Holding it in isn’t good for the baby’s development.”

“Cough…”

Wen Ran had intended to laugh, but after Mo Xiuchen said that, she choked on her saliva and started coughing violently.

“Ranran, what’s wrong?”

Mo Xiuchen’s eyes narrowed with concern, and he quickly patted her back to ease her breathing. Wen Ran coughed a few times and then stopped. Sitting on her other side, Director Gu corrected him, “Mo Xiuchen, can you stop being so over-sensitive? Ranran is just pregnant. Is it really necessary to be this fussy?”

“Ranran is pregnant, of course, we need to be extra careful.”

Mo Xiuchen rebutted dismissively and then added, “And in the future, don’t talk about surgery, bloody matters, or anything about pretentious women in front of Ranran.”

“Ranran is just a little over a month along. You’re not starting prenatal education already, are you?” Gu Kai rolled his eyes, unable to endure it.

“Ranran, don’t go back with Mo Xiuchen. Stay at our place for the next few months. He’s too frightening.”

“Don’t stir up trouble. Ranran, let’s go home. You didn’t rest well on the flight. When we get home, have something to eat and then sleep well.”

Mo Xiuchen didn’t want to hear any more of Gu Kai’s agitating words and got ready to leave with Wen Ran.

“Fine, I’ll take you guys.”

Unexpectedly, Gu Kai didn’t object but instead stood up first, ready to see them off.

“Mo Xiuchen, Ranran, don’t leave just yet. Since Ah Kai says the ones I found for him before were all unsuitable, let’s have Mo Xiuchen, Ah Jin, and Ranran help you look over them and pick a few outstanding girls.”

After speaking, Gu Yan walked toward his desk.

Inside, Gu Kai cursed quietly, pursed his lips, threw himself onto the sofa, leaned back into it, and in a very unladylike manner, propped his legs up on the coffee table. His defiant demeanor clashed terribly with the pristine white coat he was wearing.

“Okay, Dad.”

Mo Xiuchen glanced at Gu Kai and replied unhurriedly.

Wen Ran looked from Gu Kai to Mo Xiuchen, a touch of confusion appearing between her eyebrows. She wondered why Mo Xiuchen seemed so happy about her brother’s matchmaking situation.

Gu Yan came over with a thick file and handed it to Mo Xiuchen, saying, “This contains profiles of outstanding girls from various cities that have been selected for Ah Kai. They are all top-notch in terms of family background, education, and character.”

“Dad, didn’t you say there were only a few the other day?”

Gu Kai furrowed his brows, looking at the thick document in Mo Xiuchen’s hands, complete with photos and information.

Gu Yan scoffed, “If I don’t prepare a few more, how can I pick out an excellent one from the unsuitable ones to satisfy you? Ah Kai, if you keep being so picky, I might not just go after unsuitable ones, I’ll have you meet any woman as long as she’s alive and female.”

“Dad, are you possessed?” Gu Kai yelled, displeased.

He failed to see the unusual smile the momentarily emerged on the lips of Mo Xiuchen, who was looking down at the file.
