Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 1006: 1005 scared away Chapter 1006: 1005 scared away “Ranran, if you feel it’s necessary to tell Bai Xiaoxiao, then tell her.”

Mo Xiuchen added after a moment of contemplation.

Although Ah Feng had asked him not to tell Bai Xiaoxiao, if he finally compromised to his mother’s wishes, Mo Xiuchen couldn’t let Ranran keep deceiving Bai Xiaoxiao forever. That would be unfair to Bai Xiaoxiao.

Wen Ran pursed her lips and said softly, “Let’s see how it goes. Since Luo Haofeng has asked us to keep it from Xiaoxiao, we’ll keep it from her for the time being. If he firmly decides to be with Xiaoxiao, then Xiaoxiao’s decision to journey far for him won’t be in vain.”

At this point, Wen Ran didn’t continue.

She knew that Mo Xiuchen understood what she hadn’t said.

If Luo Haofeng married Qi Meiling behind Xiaoxiao’s back, as Xiaoxiao’s best friend, she certainly wouldn’t forgive him.

A relationship is a matter between two people. Even if one has to bow out, at least the other should be given notice.

“Alright.” Mo Xiuchen had no objection to her decision, not because Ranran was the woman he loved, but because he felt Ranran was doing the right thing.

The greatest obstacle between Bai Xiaoxiao and Luo Haofeng was his family, not Bai Xiaoxiao’s.

Even when Xiaoxiao’s mother had previously objected, she hadn’t acted as vehemently as Luo Haofeng’s mother.

“Ranran, you should get some rest.” Seeing her in a bad mood, Mo Xiuchen wrapped his long arm around her shoulder and pulled her into his embrace, audaciously blocking her view.

Wen Ran, resigned, could only mumble in agreement and closed her eyes to rest.

For the seven o’clock date, Gu Kai arrived at Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion at six fifty-nine, ascending to the second floor right at seven o’clock.

At table number nine, the woman he was meeting for the arranged date had already arrived. As she was sitting with her back to the door, he could only see a slender silhouette with a dignified posture, wondering if her face would be as different from her figure as night and day.

Gu Kai’s gaze lingered on her silhouette for half a second before he approached.

“Hello!”

The woman was looking down at a newspaper and only looked up at the sound of Gu Kai’s voice.

It was a delicate and pretty face, consistent with the graceful figure. When her eyes met Gu Kai’s, she revealed a polite and appropriate smile, “Hello, Mr. Gu!”

She stood and reached out her hand proactively.

Gu Kai’s mouth curved in a smile, a trace of it appearing on his handsome face, yet not reaching his eyes. Those Mo Yu-like eyes clearly showed estrangement and a faint indifference.

After shaking hands, they took their seats in turn.

Gu Kai summoned the waiter to order, and although he was reluctant to go on this arranged meeting, now that he was here, he would not be overly rude, gentlemanly allowing the woman to choose the dishes first.

The woman ordered two dishes and a soup, then pushed the menu to Gu Kai, “Mr. Gu, take a look, do you want to add anything else?”

“No need, that’s fine.”

Gu Kai glanced at it, looked up at the waiter who immediately picked up the menu and smiled, saying “Just a moment,” before turning away.

With few dishes ordered, they were served quickly.

Gu Kai looked at the two dishes served—one meat, one vegetarian—along with a seafood soup, and showed no intention of eating. The woman didn’t hesitate, picking up a piece of meat and eating it before raising her head to ask, “Aren’t you eating, Mr. Gu?”

Gu Kai shook his head and said indifferently, “Seeing this plate of meat, I’m reminded of the surgery I performed today, slicing…”

“Ugh…”

Gu Kai’s words were cut off as the woman who had been eating heartily just moments before suddenly stood up, covered her mouth, and ran toward the restroom.

“So boring.”

Gu Kai’s lips curled into a disdainful smirk. A few casual remarks and she was off to the restroom to vomit. How could such a woman be fit to enter the grand doors of his Gu Family home?

A few minutes later, the woman returned to her seat, her complexion slightly pale.

“Mr. Gu, I’m very sorry, I just…”

“It’s okay, you’ll get used to it.”

Gu Kai smiled faintly, not feeling apologetic at all for causing the lady to feel nauseous. Instead, he interrupted her, continuing, “I average two surgeries a day. What I told you about just now is quite normal. If you saw a craniotomy or…”

“Mr. Gu, I have something else to attend to, I need to leave.”

Without waiting for Gu Kai to finish, the woman grabbed her purse and bolted.

As he watched her flee the hall, Gu Kai couldn’t help laughing out loud and took out his phone to call Wen Jin, “Ah Jin, come join me at the Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion for a meal.”

Half an hour later, the person sitting across from Gu Kai had changed to Wen Jin.

The original two dishes and one soup were cleared from the table, replaced with their favorite dishes.

“You’re saying you came here for a blind date?”

Wen Jin couldn’t help raising his voice incredulously at the mention of a blind date.

Gu Kai nodded sulkily, “Exactly. I have no idea what got into my dad. He suddenly forced me to go on blind dates and even started talking about carrying on the family lineage.”

“Is that so?” Wen Jin looked at Gu Kai, amused.

His eyes twinkled as he asked, “So, the person you were supposed to meet on your blind date, she didn’t stand you up, did she?”

Gu Kai snorted. His expression of grievance swiftly morphed into one of arrogance and pride, “Scared her off with just a couple of sentences.”

“Scared off? What do you mean?”

Wen Jin was puzzled. Gu Kai was handsome and aristocratic; his habitual white coat made him look every bit the genteel and refined man.

Anyone who didn’t know him would believe at first glance that he was a gentleman, mild as jade. But now, Wen Jin knew better; Gu Kai’s haughtiness was in his bones and couldn’t just be feigned away.

Gu Kai picked up a chopstick full of food and elegantly placed it in his mouth. After swallowing, he explained, “I told her that after seeing all that stuff in surgery, I lose my appetite. She ran off scared. How could such a cowardly woman even think about setting foot into our Gu Family’s threshold?”

By the end, Gu Kai was full of scorn.

Wen Jin’s mouth twitched, not quite agreeing. “Ah Kai, when you talk about those things, it’s not just girls, even men would probably lose their appetite. If Uncle Gu knew you were doing this, do you think he’d let you off?”

“I’ve thought it through, no big deal. If they come one by one, I’ll just scare them off.”

Gu Kai was previously bothered by the idea of blind dates, but after what had just happened, he wasn’t worried anymore. Just like Ah Jin said, even men might not be able to sit through his stories, let alone women. Ten out of eleven would probably scare off on their own.

“That’s not a solution. If Uncle Gu is intent on you going on blind dates, he won’t let you mess around. You’d be better off trying to get along with someone. Who knows, over time, you might even start to like them.”

“That sounds nice. How about I go tell my dad to find a few for you too, so we can go on blind dates together in the future?”

Gu Kai’s remark almost made Wen Jin choke. Pretending to be displeased, he glared at Gu Kai and then raised his hand to soothe his chest, saying:
