Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 701: 700, if you say the word “die” again

A month later

A City

In the intensive care unit of the military hospital, Mother Qin sat by the bedside, watching her son deep in sleep. Tears uncontrollably welled up in her eyes.

Beside her, Father Qin, who was standing next to her, frowned and said sympathetically, “Ah Mu will definitely wake up today. He’s fine now. You should be happy. Why are you crying instead?”

“We have no idea when Ah Mu will wake up. He won’t recover in three to five months. How can I be happy about it?”

Mother Qin looked up at her husband with disdain, and was about to say something when she heard her son suddenly mutter “Ranran!” in his sleep.

Startled, she quickly held her son’s hand and softly called him, “Ah Mu, Ah Mu.”

Qin Mu was awakened by her call. He slowly opened his eyes, and the fear and worry from his dream was still visible on his pale, handsome face. His gaze lingered on Mother Qin for a few seconds before slowly focusing. When his brain started working, he suddenly gripped Mother Qin’s hand tightly:

“Mom, where is Ranran, is she alright?”

Mother Qin looked at him with a complex expression, somewhat puzzled by her son’s reaction to Wen Ran. She remembered the night a month ago, when she received the news that her son had jumped off a cliff following Wen Ran. She was shocked beyond words.

Seeing her silence, Qin Mu became more anxious. He struggled to get up: “I need to find Ranran.”

“Ah Mu, you stay in bed, you’re not allowed to go anywhere.”

Father Qin, who was standing behind Mother Qin, suddenly spoke, his voice stern.

Mother Qin was frightened by his stern tone but quickly composed herself and held Qin Mu back on the bed soothingly, “Ah Mu, you just woke up. You can’t get agitated. Old man, go call the doctor to examine our son.”

“Mom, I need to find Ranran.”

If Mother Qin did not understand now, she would have lived in vain for so many years. She sighed softly and said gently, “Ranran is fine. She’s in the ward downstairs. Ah Mu, you have to lie down and not move.”

On hearing that Wen Ran was alright, Qin Mu looked dubious. He hesitated for a moment, then did not move and lay obediently back in bed. A thin layer of sweat had formed on his forehead due to the struggle earlier.

The doctor arrived in the ward soon, did a comprehensive check-up on Qin Mu, and asked him some questions. He told Father Qin and Mother Qin that the blood clot in his head was slowly dissipating, and perhaps he might not need another surgery after a couple of days of observation.

After receiving a phone call, Father Qin left with the police, instructing Qin Mu to take a good rest before leaving.

In the ward, only Mother Qin was left. Looking at the scab on Qin Mu’s forehead and thinking about his injuries, she felt a pang in her heart, and her eyes quickly welled up with tears.

Seeing his mother about to cry again caused Qin Mu to have a headache again. He softly said, “Mom, you go back and rest first. I won’t die.”

“Dare you to say ‘die’ again,” Mother Qin’s face changed. She glared at Qin Mu angrily. After glaring for a couple of seconds, tears suddenly fell from her eyes. She wiped her tears while chiding, “You ungrateful brat, have you ever considered what I would do if something happened to you?”

“Mom, I’m sorry!”

Qin Mu’s face changed slightly. At that time, he didn’t have the time to think about anything else. Wen Ran jumped off the cliff right in front of him, and he instinctively followed suit.

“Who wants to hear your apology? Promise me that you will never do something so dangerous again. If you dare to do something like that again, I will disown you.”

Thinking of the thought of nearly losing her son, Mother Qin’s heart ached in a way she couldn’t express. She was nothing like her usual gentle and loving self, and her eyes stared at her son with resentment.

Qin Mu quietly listened to Mother Qin’s reprimand before obediently promising, “Mom, I promise I won’t do anything that worries you in the future.”

Mother Qin looked at his helpless yet obedient look, let out a sudden laugh while her tears were still wet, and scolded, “You naughty boy!”

Qin Mu gave her a small smile and asked softly, “Mom, did I really sleep for a month?”

The doctor had mentioned during his check-up that he had been in a coma for a month.

Mother Qin nodded, “Of course it’s true. A month ago, you followed Wen Ran and jumped off the cliff. I thought… you really left your father and me behind. Your father had people search along the river for three days, but we didn’t find you and Wen Ran. He said that… even if you guys were… there should still be fragments of clothing…”

On saying this, Mother Qin wiped away her tears and continued, “It wasn’t until a week later when we received a call that we found out you guys were washed downstream by the river and rescued to a hospital…”

Listening to Mother Qin recounting the events of that night, Qin Mu felt like it happened in a different lifetime. He had been in a coma for a month and didn’t know anything that happened during this time.

Moreover, he had been awake for quite a while, but Luo Haofeng and the others hadn’t visited him. Earlier, his mother had mentioned that Wen Ran was in the neighboring ward, but the doctor who examined him didn’t answer when he asked about it.

“What happened to Fu Jingyi and Liao Dongxing after Wen Ran and I jumped off the cliff that night?”

Looking intently at Mother Qin, Qin Mu had many doubts in his heart, and many questions he wanted to ask. That night, because Liao Dongxing had changed the meeting place at the last minute, his previous arrangements became useless.

When they first arrived at the top of the mountain, Liao Dongxing had brought his men and Wen Ran, and Fu Jingyi had already reached the top.

At first, they did not see the bomb tied to Wen Ran, because she was wearing a jacket, and the bomb was tied around her waist, blocked by the jacket.

It was also night, and the top of the mountain was dark. Liao Dongxing deliberately chose such a location. Only the lights from a distant car illuminated them, and it was not directly towards them.

Under such circumstances, there were pros and cons for them. The advantage was that the person with them was not the real Mo Xiuchen, but Jiang Liu pretending to be him. The disadvantage, of course, was that such lighting and terrain were not conducive to saving Wen Ran.

Liao Dongxing’s advantage was that Wen Ran was important to Mo Xiuchen, he insisted that they return the evidence to him first. Being fake, Mo Xiuchen of course could not go himself, so the task of handing over the evidence fell upon Qin Mu.

He gave the evidence Liao Dongxing wanted to him and asked him to release Wen Ran. To his surprise, Liao Dongxing readily agreed. Fu Jingyi was particularly agitated after spotting Gu Yan and walked towards them, probably relying on the fact that Wen Ran was still in Liao Dongxing’s possession and Mo Xiuchen needed him to save her, he acted recklessly.

Qin Mu was not concerned with Fu Jingyi. All of his attention was on Wen Ran, and to his surprise, Liao Dongxing, that despicable villain, had tied a timed bomb to Wen Ran.

When he heard the siren from the foot of the mountain, Liao Dongxing, who didn’t care at all about his own wife and child, pushed Wen Ran to the edge of the cliff, threatening them to jump off the cliff.
