Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 712: 711 Unknown Incoming Call

In the living room, Nanny Zhang and Housekeeper Uncle Liu looked at each other, their faces washed with a layer of sadness.

A few minutes later, Wen Ran emerged from the bathroom, wearing a faint smile on her face.

Her clear and bright eyes were even more translucent than before as they scanned everyone in the room.

She said lightly, “I’m going upstairs to pack my clothes. Since I’m here, I might as well take them with me.”

“Miss, you don’t need to rush to take your things away,” Nanny Zhang hurriedly explained. “Young Master Mo won’t be home for a while.”

Wen Ran paused. Mo Xiuchen had been abroad for a month and a half for his convalescence. Was he not planning to return home?

Qing Feng interjected, “Miss Wen, actually, even if Young Master Mo comes back, he won’t be staying here. You don’t have to take all your things. Young Master Mo has lost his memory, and neither Cheng Jia nor Old Sir Mo dare to let him come back.”

“Indeed, Sir Mo previously warned us not to call Young Master Mo or tell him anything that might confuse him. Just yesterday, Sir Mo stated that Young Master Mo will be staying in D Country for a while. MS Group plans to enter the European market, and both Cheng Jia and Young Master Mo will be stationed there…”

Little Liu muttered his words with some resentment. He harbored great animosity toward Cheng Jia, and indirectly, toward Sir Mo as well.

They had no idea what had transpired recently.

That Young Master Mo was taken away by Sir Mo.

Subsequently, Sir Mo arranged for Young Master Mo and Wen Ran to divorce, with Cheng Jia taking Wen Ran’s place as Young Master Mo’s fiancée.

Now that Wen Ran has returned, it seems she doesn’t plan on bringing Young Master Mo back.

At this thought, Little Liu blurted out, “Madam, do you really plan to give Young Master Mo to Cheng Jia and not bring him back?”

“…”

Upon uttering these words, Little Liu received a cool glare from Nanny Zhang.

Even though Nanny Zhang had her doubts, her age taught her to hold her tongue, unlike Liu’s directness.

Wen Ran’s lips curled into a thin smile, though it betrayed a tinge of bitterness. “I once promised Chairman Mo that I would not bother Mo Xiuchen again.”

Initially, Mo Jingteng took Mo Xiuchen away and arranged for him to be treated in a separate hospital.

When Gu Kai and his son found him there, Mo Jingteng immediately discharged Mo Xiuchen from the hospital.

At that time, only a few days after Mo Xiuchen’s surgery, his condition remained unstable and highly susceptible to infection.

Mo Jingteng used Mo Xiuchen’s health as a threat.

Over the phone, Cheng Jia warned Wen Ran that if she continued to track Mo Xiuchen, or if she refused to let go, they would not return him to the hospital.

If anything were to happen to him, it would be Wen Ran’s fault.

There and then, Wen Ran promised never to interfere with Mo Xiuchen again.

She would not let her family or friends try to find him.

If they were to cross paths in the future, they would behave as strangers, and she would not tell Mo Xiuchen about their past relationship.

Cheng Jia didn’t believe her and demanded that Wen Ran swear an oath.

Wen Ran will never forget the oath she made that day: “If I break this promise, may I be struck by lightning.”

But Cheng Jia pushed further: “Wen Ran, I don’t need you to swear on your own life. I want you to swear on Mo Xiuchen and all your loved ones. If you break your promise, none of them will meet a good end!”

Wen Ran didn’t know how she managed to utter those words.

She felt no pain then when she repeated Cheng Jia’s stipulations word for word.

In the end, she made Cheng Jia promise to send Mo Xiuchen back to the hospital immediately.

What Cheng Jia wanted was her commitment.

She knew that Wen Ran valued Mo Xiuchen’s life more than their relationship.

Wen Ran had made a similar promise to Fu Jingyi before.

Having made one more promise to Cheng Jia didn’t really matter.

On the night of the cliff incident, the person she was most worried about was Mo Xiuchen. She feared that he would spend his entire life suffering from their shared memories.

Now that he had forgotten about her and was living a good life, even if they couldn’t be together, she was content.

“Miss Wen, we don’t have Young Master Mo’s contact number and can’t get in touch with him. Cheng Jia and Chairman Mo definitely don’t want him to come back. That’s why they’ve used the pretext of expanding into the European market to keep him in D Country,” Qing Feng analyzed calmly. They all despised both Cheng Jia and Mo Jingteng.

Wen Ran tried to keep her composure and spoke softly, “No matter where Mo Xiuchen is or who he is with, as long as he is well, that’s all that matters. You all don’t need to worry.”

She pressed her lips together, voice faltering slightly before she spoke again, “Based on what you all just told me, Mo Xiuchen won’t be returning home for a while. So, I’ll leave everything in your good hands.”

“Miss Wen, with Nanny Zhang, Housekeeper Uncle Liu, and Little Liu taking care of the place, we can continue to serve as your bodyguards. After all, Young Master Mo initially signed us for a one-year contract and has paid our salary for the year.”

Having Qing Feng and Qing Yang remain idle all day seemed a waste.

A small smile crossed Wen Ran’s face, “I don’t need protection anymore, but since you two have nothing to do…”

She hesitated then continued, “I can assign some tasks for you.”

“Miss Wen, what tasks would you like for us to do?”

Qing Yang, who had been silent all along, looked curious.

The light in Wen Ran’s eyes flickered, she said calmly, “You two should take a trip to the countryside in the next day or so and check whether it’s possible to plant fruit trees in the open areas in front and behind the villa. I also want to design a small garden in the courtyard.”

A look of surprise passed through Qing Yang’s eyes as he exchanged a glance with Qing Feng.

He readily agreed, “Sure, we’ll go tomorrow. Did you have anything specific in mind in terms of what fruit trees you want and how the garden should be designed?”

“I’ll draw up a garden design for you in a bit. As for the fruit trees, I’ll get in touch later, you’ll only be in charge of planting them.”

“No problem.”

Both Qing Feng and Qing Yang replied in unison.

Hearing Wen Ran’s instructions for Qing Feng and Qing Yang to plant fruit trees in the countryside, joy immediately spread across Nanny Zhang’s face.

Of course, she knew by “countryside,” Wen Ran was referring to Mo Xiuchen’s grandparents’ hometown.

The fact that Wen Ran wanted to redevelop that area indicated she still hadn’t let go of Young Master Mo yet.

“Madam, go ahead and draw the plans for Qing Feng and Qing Yang. I’ll prepare dinner. Although you and Young Master Mo haven’t been home these past days, we’ve made sure to stock the foods you both love.”

Wen Ran wanted to tell her that she planned to eat dinner at her own home.

Seeing their hopeful eyes, warmth spread through her heart. She nodded, giving them a light smile, and softly agreed, “okay!”

Upon hearing her agreement, Nanny Zhang happily made her way to the kitchen to prepare dinner.

Uncle Liu and Little Liu also returned outside to their unfinished tasks.

Wen Ran went upstairs, back into the master bedroom.

She found paper and pens in Mo Xiuchen’s study and sketched out the garden design she had in mind.

She also estimated the size of the open grounds both in the front and in the back of the villa.

Leaving the study, her gaze fell onto the bed a few feet away.

Suppressing the pangs of sorrow that welled up in her heart again, she closed her eyes, turned around, and left the master bedroom.

Just as she was about to descend the staircase, her phone buzzed in her pocket.

Seeing the unknown number calling, Wen Ran’s heart clenched, she took a deep breath before answering, “Hello!”
