Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 704: 703 You all are my real brothers

Wen Ran slept for two hours straight.

When she awoke, the sun was setting outside the window, a gentle breeze carrying the fragrance of flowers came through the slightly opened window, dispersing the strong smell of disinfectant in the ward.

As soon as she opened her eyes, she saw Gu Kai sitting in the chair in front of her bed, reading a medical journal.

Seeing her awake, he immediately put down the magazine in his hand and said with a smile, “Ranran, you’ve slept for two hours. If you didn’t wake up, you would have missed dinner.”

Wen Ran felt great after a good sleep. There was a glow on her clear and fair face, not as pale and dull as the past few days.

She smiled slightly, looked at the thermal lunch box on the small table, and whispered, “Brother, how long have you been here?”

Gu Kai leaned slightly, opened the thermal lunch box, and a strong aroma of soup spread instantly.

“I’ve been here for over an hour. I have good news. Ah Mu is awake. After you finish this soup, I will take you to see him.”

Wen Ran’s eyes lit up, and a smile spread across her face, “Really? Qin Mu is awake!”

“Of course. Don’t you trust your brother?”

Gu Kai playfully rubbed her nose. Wen Ran blushed and dodged, pouting in dissatisfaction.

“Brother, stop rubbing my nose. I want to see Qin Mu first, then come back and have the soup.”

Wen Ran was about to get off the bed as she spoke.

Qin Mu was the one who saved her life. If it hadn’t been for Qin Mu holding onto her when they plunged into the river, using his own body to bear the force and impact of the fall, she might be meeting the King of Hell by now.

Even if she didn’t die, she certainly wouldn’t have recovered as quickly as she had.

Gu Kai held down Wen Ran who was trying to get up, his tone slightly serious, “Eat dinner first. After that, I will take you.”

Wen Ran frowned, “Brother, I’m not hungry now. Can I eat later.”

Wen Ran was only injured in the head. Compared to Qin Mu’s injuries, hers were relatively minor. As a result, she woke up twenty days earlier than Qin Mu.

If it weren’t for Gu Kai’s insistence on her staying in the hospital, she would have been discharged by now.

“Ah Mu must be sleeping now. He just woke up and doesn’t have as much energy as you. Have your meal first and take a rest, then I’ll accompany you to see him.”

As Gu Kai was persistent, Wen Ran closed her eyes and sighed in resignation: “Alright.”

“That’s my good girl.”

Gu Kai smiled and praised, treating Wen Ran completely like a child.

However, with Wen Ran’s delicate appearance, smooth and fair skin, and untreated black hair, she looked younger than she actually was, coupled with the fact that she was not that old in reality.

Not yet 24 years old, had it not been for the calamity that befell the Wen Family, she would still be the pampered pearl in the palm of the hand, enjoying her carefree single life.

“Brother, do you want to eat something too? Eating alone isn’t fun.”

Wen Ran looked at the soup and rice he had served. She was confined to the hospital all day and wasn’t very hungry, so she couldn’t eat much.

“Sure, I will accompany you.”

Gu Kai smiled. This is the meal that Mother Qin brought.

She brought a lot, and there were extra bowls and chopsticks. The meal was indeed too much for Ranran to finish alone.

With Gu Kai’s help, the soup and rice were all finished.

When Gu Kai went to wash the dishes, Wen Ran’s cell phone beeped with a new message. She picked up her phone and unlocked it.

It was a picture message with a short caption attached.

The time on the photo was early morning, and the background was a hospital ward.

Her slender fingers traced the handsome face of the man in the picture.

Her gaze softened as she stared at the pair of deep eyes that had lost their gentle touch. A vibe that warned strangers to keep their distance emanated from his body.

“Ranran, what are you looking at?”

Gu Kai, with the cleaned thermal lunch box, saw Wen Ran glued to her phone. Mo Yu’s eyes narrowed instinctively as he casually asked.

Wen Ran chuckled, put away her phone, and looked at Gu Kai, “Brother, you washed it so quickly, is it clean?”

Gu Kai raised an eyebrow, “I am a doctor, you shouldn’t doubt that a doctor can’t wash dishes clean.”

“Hehe, alright, I should not doubt you.”

Although Wen Ran said so, her smile showed not a hint of remorse for doubting him.

Gu Kai didn’t argue with her, his gaze swept over her hospital gown.

He said, “Let’s go, let’s visit Ah Mu now and return the thermal lunch box to Aunt Qin, so we can have breakfast tomorrow.”

“Brother, after visiting Qin Mu, I want to be discharged from the hospital.”

Wen Ran pursed her lips and spoke softly.

“Huh?”

Gu Kai blinked, taken aback.

Seeing the serious look on Wen Ran’s face, she wasn’t joking.

He squinted his eyes, examining her intently, “Ranran, why are you in such a hurry to be discharged? Even if you want to leave, you can wait till tomorrow.”

Wen Ran avoided Gu Kai’s probing gaze.

She calmly said, “I am perfectly fine now, it’s not right for me to still occupy the hospital bed. Brother, I was not discharged before because I was worried about Qin Mu. Now that he’s awake, I can rest assured. I want to go home.”

Gu Kai’s expression stiffened at her mention of ‘going home’.

Wen Ran felt a pang in her heart, but she managed a smile, saying whimsically, “Brother, I’ve been living in the Wen Family for more than ten years. This time when I return, I want to stay in the room you decorated for me.”

Gu Kai also quickly regained his composure, smiling as he asked, “Aren’t you afraid that Ah Jin will be unhappy?”

“Why would he? My brother has been busy lately. If I stay there, he’ll have to worry about taking care of me.”

Gu Kai frowned at the mention of ‘my brother’.

He said, somewhat resentfully, “Ranran, who is your real brother after all? When you mention me in front of Ah Jin, do you also say ‘my brother’ all the time like now?”

Wen Ran was taken aback, looking at Gu Kai’s jealous expression, she suddenly burst out laughing.

“What are you laughing at? Did I say something wrong?”

Gu Kai glared at her.

Naughty girl!

He was her real brother who had been looking for her for more than twenty years.

Why did it always seem like she regarded Wen Jin as her real brother, pushing him to the back?

Such feelings really hurt the pride of Gu Kai who was usually arrogant and proud!

Wen Ran held back her laughter, lifted the blanket, and got off the bed.

She stepped forward, took the thermal lunch box from Gu Kai’s hand.

Seeing him still glaring at her, she smiled playfully and coaxed, “Both of you are my real brothers. Over the years, I’ve gotten used to calling it this way. How about this, when we go back to G City, you…both of you should discuss this issue together. Whoever is older, I will start calling you ‘older brother’, ‘second brother’, so I won’t get tired of calling the wrong names.”

By the end, Wen Ran pouted her lips in aggrievement.

When Wen Jin and Gu Kai were together, she didn’t know how to address them. But this guy, Gu Kai, was not satisfied.

Before, when she called him “Older Brother Gu”, he was delighted.

Now, when she called him “Older Brother Gu”, he gazed at her with a pitiful look as if she wanted to sever their sibling relationship.

Which made her feel a profound sense of guilt out of nowhere.
