Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 702: 701 Actually, I still hope she survives

If Liao Dongxing had simply used Wen Ran as a hostage and planned to escape, she would not have resolvedly jumped off the cliff.

How could Wen Ran ever want to trade their lives for her own? Furthermore, even if they did jump off the cliff, Liao Dongxing would not let her go.

So, she pushed away Liao Dongxing, who was restraining her, said a definitive sentence to Mo Xiuchen and then jumped.

At that moment, Qin Mu, who was charging towards them, reached out but only grabbed at thin air. His heart clenched, his mind couldn’t process command. He shouted “Ranran!” and jumped after her.

In that moment, even he wasn’t sure what he was thinking.

It seemed as if many thoughts crossed his mind, and yet it also seemed as if no thoughts came at all. It was just a split-second decision, but that fleeting moment was enough for him to make such a resolute choice.

He jumped off the cliff not because of his promise to Mo Xiuchen to protect Wen Ran, but because he wanted to accompany her to another world.

In this world, she had Mo Xiuchen by her side, but in the next one, she would be all alone.

When he was falling, he felt a sense of relief. Maybe, in that other world, he could openly love her. Before she took the leap, she had asked her father to erase her memories of Mo Xiuchen.

With those memories gone, there would be no more entanglement between them.

Having thought of this, Qin Mu felt a sudden wave of sadness. He had wanted to be selfish for once, but his wish did not come true.

His gaze flitted anxiously, “Mom, where is Ranran? She’s not downstairs in the ward, right? Tell me the truth, is Ranran…”

Mother Qin looked at her nervous and frightened son, felt a pang in her heart and said firmly, “When have I ever lied to you? I say Wen Ran is fine, then she is fine. The people who saved you said when they found the two of you, you were still holding her tight. They guessed you must have grabbed Wen Ran when you hit the bottom of the cliff, let your own body hit the water first to reduce the impact on her.”

The people who saved them thought that they were a couple. When Father Qin and his team went to pick them up, those people praised Qin Mu for his deep love for that girl…

Qin Mu’s gaze flickered, and he dropped his eyes. The scene of them jumping off the cliff together replayed in his mind. His fall speed seemed to be a little faster than Wen Ran’s. When they hit the bottom of the cliff, he finally reached out and grabbed her. Just a second before they plunged into the river, he pulled her into his arms, and let his body go first.

It turned out that even though he was selfishly thinking about going to another world with her, his body’s reaction was hoping for her to survive.

Even if she had a bomb strapped to her when he hugged her, there was a chance they would both get blown to pieces. still, he hoped his body was the first to hit the bottom, so she wouldn’t get hurt as much when she fell in the river.

Jumping off a cliff with a bomb, no wonder everyone thought they couldn’t survive.

However, they overlooked one thing. The bomb on Wen Ran was not real, but fake. No one had expected this, including Liao Dongxing.

Liao Dongxing wanted them all dead. However, he did not factor in Fu Jingyi’s madness. Perhaps no one knew what he was thinking. He hated Gu Yan for taking baby Wen Ran away twenty years ago, raising her with poison for six years. In the end, it was he who replaced the bomb they were supposed to strapped on Wen Ran.

He wanted to take Wen Ran away in the confusion, but by a stroke of luck, he ended up saving her life instead.

There was a knock on the hospital room door. Luo Haofeng and Gu Kai were the ones who walked in.

“Ah Mu, we heard you woke up and immediately wanted to see you. You better not pull off a stunt like that next time, or I won’t be so lenient,” Luo Haofeng came over and lightly punched Qin Mu’s shoulder.

There was a flicker of complexity in Gu Kai’s gaze as he looked at Qin Mu. A slight smile appeared on his handsome face, “Ah Mu, how does it feel to sleep for a month?”

Qin Mu let out a weak smile, having slept for a month, his body felt weak and his mind was still groggy, not yet fully awake. He looked at Gu Kai and Luo Haofeng, and asked instead of answering, “Where is Xiuchen? Hasn’t he returned yet?”

One month. If the surgery went well and there were no complications, Mo Xiuchen should have returned.

As soon as he spoke, Gu Kai’s face tensed slightly, and he avoided the question, “You were asleep for a day, and Ranran wasn’t at ease. Now that you’re awake and she’s still asleep, once she wakes up and knows you’re awake, she’ll be so happy.”

“Ah Mu, you really scared us to death that day.”

Luo Haofeng still felt a lingering fear when he thought of that night.

Mother Qin stood up and smiled, “Ah Feng, Ah Kai, you guys chat with Ah Mu for a while, I’ll go and make some food for him.”

“Sure.”

Gu Kai nodded, saw Mother Qin out, and closed the door before returning to the bedside and sitting down in a chair.

Luo Haofeng sat directly on the bed and stared at the scar on Qin Mu’s forehead, sighed and said, “This shouldn’t leave a scar, right? If it leaves a scar, you won’t be handsome anymore.”

Gu Kai gave him an amused look, “Do you think Ah Mu is like you, living off his face?”

“When have I lived off my face? I live off my charisma, understand?” Luo Haofeng protested dissatisfiedly. Qin Mu couldn’t hold back his laughter, but the laughter tugged at his injuries, causing pain throughout his body.

Seeing him wince in pain, Gu Kai hurriedly said, “Ah Mu, you can’t do any strenuous exercise right now, not even laughing. It will take three to five months for your injuries to fully heal.”

The injuries he suffered were not just external, but his internal organs were also severely damaged.

“Ah Kai, when did you return? Was Xiuchen’s surgery successful?”

Qin Mu looked at Gu Kai earnestly. They hadn’t answered his question earlier. He felt a slight unease but hoped nothing went wrong.

“Xiuchen’s surgery was very successful.”

There was a hint of melancholy in Gu Kai’s eyes as he explained softly, “Xiuchen’s surgery was performed by my father, Brown, Joseph, and Fu Jingyi.”

“Really? That’s wonderful, is he already back?”

As soon as he said this, Qin Mu winced in pain.

Xiuchen’s surgery was a great success, and Wen Ran was fine too. Although his own wish wasn’t fulfilled, as long as they were happy, his suffering was insignificant.
