Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 732: Our relationship, is only limited to

In D Country, Cheng Jia had been suffering from a foot injury since the day she fell down the stairs.

Those days, she was unable to work, nor could she continue to serve as Mo Xiuchen’s caretaker, so he hired a nanny.

Every morning, the nanny prepared breakfast.

Cheng Jia, hopping on one foot, would nevertheless persist every day to cross over to Mo Xiuchen’s apartment to share breakfast with him.

Mo Xiuchen told her to eat at her own place, not to accompany him for meals, but she insisted on being with him.

Mo Xiuchen had an important client to meet today.

He rose exceptionally early, and by the time the nanny brought breakfast to his door, he was already dressed and ready to go.

Opening the door, he saw Cheng Jia, standing on one foot next to the nanny.

His handsome brows furrowed in displeasure, “Didn’t I tell you not to come over?”

Cheng Jia smiled at him and said, “I know you have an important client to meet today. I came over specially to see if there’s anything else you need me to prepare. Mo Xiuchen, you look truly handsome.”

She looked at Mo Xiuchen, full of affection.

His tall frame stood out in the contrasting colors of his white shirt and black trousers. His features were refined and striking. His every action displayed an air of nobility. After two months of recuperation, he no longer looked as thin as he did right after his surgery.

During those days, Cheng Jia had been very careful to nurse his health.

She faithfully followed the doctor’s instructions, preparing various nourishing soups for him every day, which naturally showed positive effects.

Mo Xiuchen pretended not to hear her compliment and affectionate gaze, turned around, and walked towards the living room.

The nanny holding the breakfast urged Cheng Jia to enter the room first. Cheng Jia hopped into the room on one foot, shouting after Mo Xiuchen, “Wait for me.”

Mo Xiuchen turned to look at her, furrowed his eyebrows, and slowed down.

Cheng Jia caught up with him, immediately her face lit up with a smile. She continued to hop forward on one foot, daring not to reach out and touch him.

Recently, Mo Xiuchen had made some rules with her.

It was the day she sprained her foot, when she was sent to the hospital.

By the time Mo Xiuchen got to the hospital, the doctor had already plastered her foot. Seeing him, she wanted to throw herself into his arms and sob.

However, before she could even throw herself at him.

He blocked her with one arm, eyebrows furrowed, squinting at her, “How could you be so careless as to fall down the stairs?”

At that moment, Cheng Jia was on the verge of tears, looking at him pitifully.

She told him what happened — a child bumped into her while she was descending the stairs, causing her to lose her footing and plunge down the stairs.

She pouted, grabbed both of his hands, ready to say something.

Mo Xiuchen coldly withdrew his hand, ignoring her feelings, with a pained expression.

“Cheng Jia, let’s talk.”

He turned a blind eye to her foot, and instead wanted to talk about their relationship.

Seeing his serious demeanor and cold tone,

Her heart suddenly hung in a balance. Unknowing whether it was fear or pain, the tears began to fall from her eyes.

Mo Xiuchen pulled out a tissue from the box and handed it to her.

He calmly said, “Cheng Jia, I mentioned before that we’ll postpone our marriage until I regain my memory. Besides that, there’s something more I need to clarify with you.”

Cheng Jia watched him tentatively, asking, “What is it?”

In her heart, she knew it couldn’t be anything good.

Indeed, as she suspected, Mo Xiuchen sought to take advantage of the situation.

Not only was he intent on nullifying their future marriage, but he also set some rules with her, “We’re not engaged anymore, you’re not my fiancée, but simply my secretary. Our relationship is limited to work.”

“Mo Xiuchen, I won’t accept this! You’ve already delayed our wedding, how could you deny our relationship as well? Unless you make me lose my memory too.”

She gritted her teeth, looking desperate and sorrowful.

She thought that her definitive stance would dissuade Mo Xiuchen.

However, she underestimated Mo Xiuchen. His decisions wouldn’t be changed just because she played the victim or appeared sad.

Narrowing his eyes, he spoke without a trace of emotion, “If you wish to erase your memory as well, I can contact a doctor for you right now.”

Cheng Jia’s face turned deathly pale.

She only felt a chill creeping up from her feet, spreading through her body within a split second. She found herself shivering from the cold.

She clenched her teeth, unable to speak another word.

Mo Xiuchen’s gaze was frosty, watching her intently as if waiting for her decision.

After several seconds, seeing she wasn’t speaking, he resumed, “As I mentioned before, I lost my memory. Regardless of how I treated you, it doesn’t have anything to do with the present. I won’t force myself to be with you against my own will. You may choose – either leave or wait.”

Cheng Jia’s face lost all color, tears teetering on the edge of her eyelashes, threatening to fall, yet she dared not let them drop.

Mo Xiuchen’s voice was deep and clear, lacing with an unquestionable authority and nobility.

As if he was the born king, others could only obey, not resist, “My requests are simple, the boundaries of our relationship is limited to work until I regain my memory, or until I fall for you again. In private, we are at most ordinary friends.”

“There’s no need for you to take care of my daily life as before. I’ll hire a nanny to take care of those matters.”

Cheng Jia didn’t speak, she just listened.

Mo Xiuchen seemed satisfied with her silence. He paused for a moment, softening his voice, “This is fair to both of us. You don’t have to cling onto the feelings of the past and insist on staying by my side. If one day you find another man you like, don’t feel guilty about it. Go ahead and be with him. I won’t stop you.”

“I won’t. I’ll only love you for the rest of my life.”

Cheng Jia’s words slipped out automatically. She stared at him with tear-filled eyes, full of deep affection, as if she were swearing a solemn vow.

Mo Xiuchen’s brows slightly furrowed.

He was indifferent to her confession, void of any feelings. Without any pity for her injuries or her longing gaze.

That’s why he said those words to her.

Cheng Jia knew that Mo Xiuchen’s words were not empty threats. If she couldn’t keep his rules,

If she did anything against his will, he would definitely drive her away directly.

She had no choice at all.

The only thing she could do was to seize the opportunity to be close to him.

Make him fall in love with her, truly and sincerely. If she could make him love her, all her current bitterness and sorrow would be worthwhile.

As a result, she dared not do anything to upset him.

Remembering those agreements, even when hopping on one foot becomes difficult, she didn’t dare to ask for his help, let alone reach out to touch him.
